- This time of year is busy for all of us that have 2 properties - double the maintenance and projects. On top of the deck project, we have our lake property that needs to be seen and lived at, and worked on. We spent a couple of days there doing just that! I had an intrusion scare there for sure but I think things are ok! That was a near disaster for sure.
But there are a couple of new things on top of the deck disaster we are now dealing with, and one is pretty bad. Poor Steve.
Lots going on here these days, and the deck project is just taking longer and longer, but we will get there!
I appreciate you tuning in, and see you in the next video :)

-As an orthopedic surgeon I have both done and had lumbar surgery. Tell Steve that he will surely get relief from that procedure.
My father had done and it was a game changer.
As someone that has been dealing with back issues for well over 40 years, I can tell you that stretching everyday, and I mean EVERYDAY, goes a very long way in staying pain free. I crushed a disc in my back to the point where it pinched off my spinal cord, they removed that crushed disc in September of 1978, and as long as I stretch everyday, I am totally pain free. I am not a doctor, so I can't say it will work for everyone, but it sure works for me. I wish you and Steve all the best.
As a fellow back pain sufferer I agree with this statement.
And will add if you find ( a good deep tissue massage therapist)
unfortunately they are not all the same, they can work wonders.
Everything works better and feels better when not in spasm.
I agree and tell Steve to stretch all the time!
Ditto, as a fellow back …… I’m in PT right now for the lower back pain. I was a volunteer firefighter in PA when a barn beam fell from 20’ above hit my lower back and pinned me to the floor. I’ve got bad disks and stenosis down there T12 L1 area. BUT I cannot give up building stuff, so the battery operated heating/vibrating Velcro belt is getting daily use. The arthritis in both my hands is killing me but with compression and ice gloves, i make it another day. I am so inspired to get back outside and build cabin like ( sheds ) structures, similar to your cliff side cabin. Keep up the fantastic work and video’s.
44 years ago i started videoing my building projects, being a licensed remodeling contractor in Delaware back then, i discovered that projects took 2-3 times longer because of the camera work. No you tube back then, just AOL, who recognized my social activity on their building forms, and they asked me to be a permanent moderator for them. BUT, not having full time, time to do that, i thanked them and respectfully said no thank you.
Damn, imagine if i kept up with the video’s, I’d be a You Tube millionaire by now. Lol.
Same here. Stretching and a hard foam roller are the only things that keep me mobile. I roll out all the snap crackle and pops as soon as I get out of bed. When I do get a sprain, I wear a tight lifting belt until it heals, the destructive spams happen due to the instability of your core. I find tricking my body into thinking I have good abs and obliques with a belt really settles them down :)
Stretching will not fix the problem, go look up what she said, sick of morons
Dear Michell,,
I read the events leading op to Lenny crossing over the rainbow bridge.
My heart goes out to you...and Steve too. You have done so much in the line of pet rescue and you can be reassured that you gave Lenny the best final chapters of his life
And, you have done the same for other un-wanted, even a very sweet cat.
Your skills continue to amaze me...should I list them???... You run a saw mill, you built a deck, you play hockey, you have a deep sense of comedy in you
and you are, by far, the most beautiful woman on RUclips...my God, the number of items you've hauled down to the cliff must number in the hundreds!. I have heard a song in your background music that goes..."How do I find A Girl Like That"
And...your eyes...they're mesmerizing!
God bless you for the willingness to insure that at least your pets receive an honorable, humane, and loving exit from this life.
This world needs a lot more beautiful and loving souls like you...both of you!
PS...when I saw you laying on the floor with Lenny, it flashbacked me to the final day of my standard poodle's life...her name was "Piper" I did the a similar thing...I laid on the floor at my vets office
with Piper...I held her paws, looked her right in her eyes...I didn't know it at the time but my vet said..."John...she's gone" I wept...sobbed actually... still do sometimes. I have some very nice artwork that was made in her honor.
Peace, Michelle.
Praying for Steve and speedy recovery ,also bless the doctors nurses and staff 🙏🏻❤️
"Buttons are stupid!" LMAO! Get better soon Steve
We have an American Bulldog or Staffordshire Terrier and she rather enjoys chewing up shoes, remotes, my computer mice (plural lol) plastic bottles, wood from our fire wood, window sashes among other things, but we still love her! My wife has chronic back problems so I'm really feeling for Steve as I know what he must be going thru. We'll keep him in our thoughts and prayers this next week and hope he gets some relief from all this. Hang in there lady. You're amazing!
Thank you my friend! Clyde doesn’t chew anything now, it was really just a stress thing. Actually now that I think about it, many of the rescues we’ve had over the years have gone through a chewing phase, due to stress, but none of them chew anything now.
Clyde could chew anything, and I would love him the same no matter what. We love our pets, don’t we!?! 🥰
@@michygoss7148 ❤❤
I had recuring back problems for 30 years and when i retired and went to the doctor at 62years.... My doctor asked if I had any problems and I told her about my back problem... Pain would start above my right shoulder blade and run down my spine like an electric shock.... shecked my back and told me I had a lipoma and that was my back problem.. She told me to go to a back surgeon and have it removed. I did that and have been pain free for at least 2o years now. She said it had to be removed as if I didnot I would end up I wheel chair....She saved me thank God' AND STILL KICKING PAIN FREE.
My wife still has her red checked shirt as well, calls it her “Surrey dinner jacket” 🤣🤣
I think Clyde was saying "get well soon Steve" and "thanks a lot for sharing my fun chewing experience".
He was actually barking at the septic truck that was there when we had our septic tank pumped. Haha
Ruptured a disc in my back in the summer of '69. Now it's 50 years later and sciatica is so bad it is insane. I will be watching intently to see how he fares; my prayers go out for him.
The kind of work you are doing there will break down a man twice your size. Please be patient with yourself and let your heavy equipment do all the lifting.
As a sufferer of back issues, I can relate ! Steve is a tough man ! He will be in our prayers 🙏
I can feel every bit of back pain Steve is going thru. Had my surgery some 30 years ago and it helped. I was told that it may come back over the years and now it has. For the past 4 years I have been in pain, some days worse than others. Being 70 years old, I'm not too sure I want to go thru surgery again. Atleast you understand his pain, must be due to your profession.
My Wife acts like I still should be a 20 something year old and just get things done around here.
Always enjoyed Japan. Was stationed in Okinawa for a year, and 2 years in Iwakuni. Just not enough wilderness and snow for me, so Alaska is the perfect place for me.
I've had bats living under my eaves for years. Haven't had a pest problem for years. Best of all, there are very few mosquitos, which is awesome for a house in a pine forest, next to a slow moving creek.
That Steve, what a chatter bug. lol. Talking about his trip to Japan kept me on the edge of my seat. I really hope and pray that all goes well with his back.
I wish the best for Steve. It's good to see that he still had his sense of humor through that pain sometimes that's the best way to deal with it until you can get it fixed. Love Cludes sign off message at the end too. He is such a a cutie. Thank you Michy for sharing this video with us. May y'all have a good one. Have fun take care
P.s. can't wait to see if you name the bats lol
Lady of the Lake 👍
The Hogan's Heroes clips on TV always crack me up when Steve's around. Edit: Oh, fuck. I'm really sorry about Steve's back. Good luck to you both.
Love that old hound dog. ARF, ARF to you too my friend.
For wood storage use thicker stickers between planks so you can get fork lift tangs in. Then you can simply lift off the pile to get to the choosen plank. Racking doesn't work unless you have narrow long space.
Thanks for video content.Really enjoy them, well polished show. And heres to Steve getting back to full strength soon.
You should make some bat boxes and put them up around your property to hopefully entice the bats to go there instead of back inside your cabin walls. If you don't know, a bat box is basically a bird house but for a bat.
Good luck with the surgery, hopefully it's very routine and has a speedy recovery.
Yes that’s a good idea!
Hi Michy, best of luck to Steve for his back surgery. I’ve had two surgeries on my back starting in 2002 and last one in 2021. You have to keep in the back of you head that you just can’t do what you used to. I’m 71 now and doing great so Steve again best of luck to you and Michy
best of luck to Steve with his surgery . My brother has the same ailment . That Clyde is a real character .
Hope Steve feels a lot better. In my 40's I used to have to roll out of bed onto the floor and grab the window ledge to pull myself up. Just terrible bad pain. I don't know what happened, but it's gone now. Yep, Steve's walk brought back memories.
So many things in this video I can relate to... but just to name a few:
1) I also bought a garden tractor to the cabin for mowing the lawn few years ago. Previously it took a whole weekend to walk with the mower around the whole yard and there was never any time or energy to do anything else if I just went for the weekend. Just mowing the lawn and returning back to the city just to do it again the next weekend... Now it's been few years that I'm just cruising around the yard with a cold drink in my hand for a couple of hours on one day, instead of pushing the mower for over 8 hours in a weekend.
2) I've also had bats living behind the boards that are around one west facing window for a few years now at the cabin. At first I felt a bit worried since the wall was lightly covered with bat poop under the window. But then again watching the bats flying at night and eating all the nasty bugs they're just awesome.
3) Back pain. I "lost my legs" when I was still under 30, which is just over 10 years ago after a visit to a chiropractor. I was in the shower that night when I fell to the floor with a striking pain in my back like I was being stabbed. Few years before that I fell with my motorcycle, and after that I had nasty pain in my hip in the autumn times. At first it was just diagnosed wrong and I was eating pain medicine for "hip pain"... but after that chiropractor visit I did no longer have pain in my hip, just in my back... and the pain was unbearable. I couldn't walk, drive or work. I booked a very expensive surgery and a very professional orthopedist / surgeon did a surgery on my back and there was two intervertebral discs destroyed that he fixed... one that was old and had already scar tissued itself, and a fresh one... so the scarred one was from the motorcycle accident I had earlier and it caused the nerve pain to my hip... and the second fresh one was by the chiropractor twisting my spine. But the surgery did fix them and I didn't lose my ability to walk, which I was afraid of for the 2 weeks I was in unbearable pain waiting for the surgery. It did cost a lot, my kitchen renovation money went into my back, but I'm glad I chose my back instead of kitchen back then. I can walk and run and live normally. Just today I ran over 15 kilometers with no problems. So happy I can run, when over 10 years ago I couldn't even walk to take out the trash because of the pain for the few weeks. So good luck to Steve with the surgery, hopefully his pain also ends and he can live full life again!
"Bad things come in 3's, right ?!?"
Yes, except when it happens 4,5,6,7...n times in a row!
Love that flannel shirt. It's so classic. Stuff like that is coming back. Very clever way to cut spare wood. Hoping that Steve fully recovers. Do worry about the addictive effects of the morphine and Percocet. Understand why Steve has the surgery in the US -- the Canadian waiting list is unreal.
Prayers for steve, back pain sucks.. good thing he has a hot mama to take care of him... yall take care, and give the the fur babies a hug...
I wish the best ... I had my spinal column closed up on me.. One month in wheel chair and then had the operation. They had to open up my column, luckly I walked out of the hospital after the surgery.. Tanh God for the surgeon that helped me .
Best wishes for Steve's surgery. You take care too, don't work too hard. Most tasks will wait a bit for your attention. At least the newcomers in the siding went to bat to help out. 8^) Cheers!
Good luck with everything! My old man suffers the same issues. He's nearly 60. Currently they are looking at implanting a Spinal Stimulator into his back. Crazy stuff!
Good Luck to Steve with his surgery ! I believe he will ultimately be fine 🙂 because he is so strong mentally. Fingers crossed 🤞
Best wishes to Steve! I was lucky in that I switched from a desk job to a physical job in my early fifties. That made me build up my core strength and killed my back problems. Doesn't mean I don't remember what it was like though, even if mine was only muscular.
Best Wishes for success in Steve's surgery.. "I know we're going to be okay if Steve still has his sense of humor through all of this and he does" - ...Gold... Round-up works wonders on weed control.
Oh trust me - Steve tried the Agent Orange route. It really just made a mess of dead grown weeds that looked awful and still had to be dealt with. (I didn’t mention that to reduce the amount of comments about how awful that is for you…). 🤪🤷🏻♀️
I want to tell you good luck with the surgery, Steve. And a speedy recovery.
I pray that the surgery goes well for Steve, back surgery is a very touchy thing. I hope the surgeon is well versed in the procedure.
Steve is extremely fortunate...to have a top notch RN to help him thru this.....hopefully he has a speedy recovery. Is amazing what they do now days. My wife has had r back surgerys, 15 years apart.....now 71 years old...and will not retire, after 30 plus years as a Custodian and Commercial cleaner. She says it hurts (physically) to quit working. I am thinking of getting her a new push mower...as she will not drive riding mower....LOL !!!!
We have a push mower at home, and I like that. But out there, it’s a whole different can of worms. And we get spend so little time out there as it is, reducing the time spent maintaining the weeds has become a welcome change 😁
OH MAN TONS OF WORK YOU HAVE!!!.... HOPE ALL IS WELL WITH STEVE!....GET WELL SOON!
It's inspiring to witness the herculean effort you devote to your many projects. And also Exhausting!! I need a nap. lol Hope Steve is recuperating comfortably.
To create flexible shelves to store lumber you could attach ropes to the rafters in a loop with various lengths to create a cradle for wood at various levels below the rafters.
Praying that Steve will have a good outcome with his surgery.
Michelle, be sure to let Steve know that we all are rooting for a successful surgery and recovery for him! Also, it's good to see the doggos are living their best lives!
Good to see you again, to bad about the deck and the well pump, but Steve of course is the most important, so here's wishing Steve a great outcome and recovery moving forward.
Wishing you & Steve all the best with his surgery. Hope he will be back on his feet pain free as soon as possible...
It looks like the pups are enjoying themselves and can't forget Southgate. 💗
I certainly can relate to Steve's issues, I have Ankylosing spondylitis, different to what Steve is going through, but unbearable pain at times, please send my best regards for a successful and speedy recovery, Love your videos!, Thanks for sharing!
I have the same mate. Gotta just keep going!
I saw the suggestion of making bat boxes. With your creative talents, I'm sure you could fashion those slab scraps into some awesome bat boxes.
I wish you and Steve the best with upcoming surgery.
On your chainsaw, Check the carb to engine screws. I had them vibrate loose on my Husky. It was running worse and worse until I looked it over and found the loose screws. Fixed it right up.
No wait. That was my Toro 2-stroke weed-eater.... but same concept.😁
Prayers for Steve and you that the surgery goes well and he has a good recovery. Hang in there you two.
Well big thanks to Steve for taking the time to share with us. Hoping his surgery fixes all his pain problems, yes he is very right when he said a hottie came in the room. Your mom’s shirt looks good on you well I think you probably make anything look good.
Yes moving stuff to get to other stuff is a big pain in the wood shed, metal bin was the same way till I put up racks to be more organized. Hoping all goes smooth sailing in the next week for Steve and you.
Thanks for sharing the adventure
puffed out he's chest and looked and said oh it's just you! Thanks for Sharing, Michelle and our very best to Steve and that back surgery goes flawlessly. Prayers to you both.
I had the same diagnosis with my back, suffering too much...only morphine and percocet helped me a bit.Since 2019 when I had surgery in Toronto's neuro hospital i've got new life. (63 years old now).Good luck to Steve.
If I had one of those harnesses for our weed whacker when I was a kid, my back might not feel the way it does.
Beste Wünsche für die Operation, und den anschließenden Heilungsprozess. Viele Grüße aus Deutschland von Elke Weiß
LOVE the red flannel, we in Ontario call that a Kawartha Lake dinner jacket! Had a red and green one back in the day. Glad to see Steve is back safe and sound 👍
Michelle, I believe I recall that you have a welder. Regarding your lumber shed, you may want to weld up a lumber rack with an open front so you can stack the lumber on horizontal metal bars that are welded to uprights in the back.
I also wish the best for Steve! I love your videos and wish your and Steve the best in this healing process.
Best of luck to Steve, be well soon!
As for you Missy, don’t pretend you’re superwoman and injure yourself and you need to stay healthy. Godspeed.
A great idea = "When we pray Good coincidences happen - when we don't they don't. "

Wishing Steve good luck. With the amount of physical work you do it's now wonder you have some pain. Hope it doesn't get worse. Good ol' Clye. He lets the world know he is here. He makes me smile.
Steve, I can see from your walking you are in agony! Hoping the surgery is successful. Ps thanks for all the Clyde content today. His bark goes to my heart many would find a hound bark annoying but I see it as a symphony lol. At the end I think he was barking " hi Mary and Dave from Connecticut USA". WE LOVE YOU BUDDY
The background music is so relaxing. You got wood that's for sure
Wishing Steve all the best and a speedy recovery.
Loved Clyde's "talk" at the end of the video.
Pinching a zipper pull sometimes doesn't work because of internal wear that pinching can't fix. Before you throw that jacket away (or any item you're thinking of tossing because of a faulty zipper) try replacing the zipper pull if you can find the correct one. Could be tough locally, maybe add it to your to-do shopping list while south of the 49th.
Hi Michelle, My name is Roy and I just found your channel by chance. It brought back great memories working for Dale Foote, tailing on his sawmill. Dale trained me well. I was green as grass when he hired me, and I remember his words well; Dale said to me, " Roy, my job is to make that mill spit out sawdust, that's how we make money. If there isn't sawdust spitting out of the mill, then we aren't making money . Your job is everything else it takes to keep me spitting sawdust from the mill." That was the best training session I ever had and those great memories came back watching your shows. I did the same as you with the slabs for firewood. Thank you and keep on spitting sawdust !;)P.S. I pray that Steve's back gets better... an inversion table works for me, just a suggestion.. God bless you both and your beautiful family of furry friends.
I suffer from cervical stenosis, so I know what Steve is going through. Praying for the absolute best results for him. Thanks for all your informative videos and keep up the good work. Don`t over do it!
Good luck Steve. Don’t push it after the surgery. You don’t want to reinjure it.
Steve's sense of humor is great and will help in the surgery recovery. You are certainly a wonderful helper, with your medical training, and my prayers are that this "season" will strengthen your relationship together and allow him to be pain-free for many years. Hope you don't need something similar with all of the heavy lifting that you do.
Just adding my thoughts and prayers for Steve's surgery and recovery. Lucky for him, his wife is "pretty hot"
M! Prayers for Steveo! He's tough and has the best nurse ever, so he'll heal quicker than most. Thanks for loving him.
I loved the shot of SG, King of the Jungle, calmly overlooking his kingdom at the dawning of a new day. ❤
Your rough-sawn lumber will give the perfect grip for bats climbing into their new houses. 😊
Thanks for sharing, MG!
Yeah, a rack for your wood is a great idea. In the style of kayak racks, but with sturdier support frames. Pole frame is fine. Preserve your good lumber well.
Oh man, I hope he finds relief! I've minor back discomfort and I can't imagine that level of pain.
Good Luck with surgery Steve. I've had 4 back surgeries unfortunately the last two were termed Failed Back Surgery. This was 20 years ago and I'm still getting along with things. Wishing Steve well with everything.
Here’s to a successful surgery and a speedy recovery for Steve! 🍻
Best thing on this video…. The Central Park hat…. Do I ever remember playing many rounds of golf on that course… so sad it is gone.
Got that hat at the thrift store!!
good vibes sent to Steve...
I don’t know about you two working so hard but for sure the dogs are having a great time 😂
Michelle, you need a mulcher, to make use of all the young trees you're cutting down. This will be a dual purpose... Helps you get rid of all the younger trees, and also saves you time, weed-eating...
I hope Steve has a successful surgery and speedy recovery. It's hard to see people in pain.
Praying for Steve to have a speedy recovery. I love your content. What a wonderful life, despite the challenges.
Sincerely hoping that Steve gets sorted out next week.
All the best to both of you.
Wishing Steve and yourself good luck with his surgery.
Hi Michelle. My wishes go out to Steve for a quick recovery soon. As always you look gorgous. Things and projects never end. Great video. Stay safe and happy.
Your a pretty cool woman! Been a joy watching you and your hubby the last few years!! 🙌🏼 good luck Steve😁! Just a set back in life.
Get well soon Steve
Hope everything works out for you and Steve and all the projects you are dealing with. Gosh I love Clyde!
Praying for Steve!! I know the feeling well, and at times have been thankful for everything from Dilaudid, percocet, fentanyl, etc. Had emergency surgery in '17, and am seeing about a dozen doctors in the last few years since accident in 19. They say surgery is not an option right now, and I hate taking meds, so it's one day at a time, and try not to overdo it. Chiropractor and cane keeps me going.
Prayer for successful surgery and speedy recovery!!🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
TALKING ABOUT STEVE IN FRONT OF THE FIREPLACE, YOU HAVE BEAUTIFUL EYES. STEVE IS SO LUCKY TO LOOK INTO THEM WHEN EVER HE WANTS TO.
I pray your husband gets better. Life is so strange. 😢
Hope Steve’s surgery goes well!! Good thing about the rule of 3 is that it’s all up hill now :)
Hoping all goes well for Steve and that he isn't a difficult patient once he is back home. lol
If you you really want to save those jackets there is an amazing woman named Tarrah that runs Silver Moose Customs in Sun Peaks, BC. She would have no problems replacing those zippers and whatever other repairs need to be done.
My best wishes to Steve on a successful surgery and recovery. Hoping this procedure will provide him with the relief from pain and discomfort.
Fingers crossed for Steves surgery. I look forward to seeing the next videos with him healing up nicely.
Good luck Steve. She does look good from the back!
I feel for Steve…back pain is the worst.
Best of luck!
Good luck Steve, wishing you well. You, as I, have a loving caring wife. Sounds like you going to be well looked after but don't let her work ethic lapse. We need more excellent videos like this. Thankyou
I hope everything went well for Steve and I have never seen a harder working lady 😊
As Southerner, I appreciate the "Yall".
I had surgery in the US 2 1/2 years ago. Fully recovered. Steve will be fine.
Wishing Steve a speedy recovery!
I live in the Northern Sunshine coast BC and I have not seen a Bat in the last four years. I live on 10 acres with 4 acres of grass between me and Malaspia straits. Bats used to be plentiful but now they have disappeared. I'm glad you still have some.
