Got an engine rebuild to do at some time. Told parts are on back order . Rattling timing chain and turbo failure @70000 miles . My old Pug 1.9 td 400,000 miles until hit by an idiot, 2.0hdi couriers van 500k plus. Engine builders have gone backwards in leaps and bounds

Nobody knows .... pffffff ..
I have a 2020 XE P250. Most boring car I have ever had. And the engine is horrible. Noisy, course, thirsty as hell, sounds like a diesel when it fires up from stop start. It’s a 2L 4 pot and in all driving situations uses more fuel than my wife’s BMW M140, and that’s a straight 6 3.0 turbocharged petrol engine, it is silky smooth too, take note Jaguar that’s how you make an engine!! Even mapped to 430bhp it does 25% more MPG than the ingenuum lump in the XE. Avoid this engine.
I agree Barry. I will never buy an X260 Jag, P250 or not. Tata's influence is everywhere in it. It's beautiful from outside, but the quality of the materials, even down to the clips that hold the interior together are poor quality. Take a car apart and then you will see the true quality of it. The older X250 was of much better substance than the new one. That's why I eventually sold my X260 and went back to an X250.
@@carfanfan I thought it strange that you did that. Thanks for all the videos you've uploaded...saved my ass a few times. My XF has gone in for a engine rebuild after 6 months of ownership and 75k on the clock, total cost to rebuild and replace turbo, DPF etc 6,800GBP. Beautiful to look at but an absolutely crap car! Can't believe i got rid of my BMW 420D Gran Coupe for this lump. The Bimmer had 140k on the clock by the time i got rid of it and it drove like it was out of the factory, the only major work done was a new DPF which was my choice.
and that's probably why they have decided to go all electric. Let's hope their electric motors are more reliable. Unfortunately, new Jags have lost their Jagginess and I think the older ones will become true classics. But only models as far as 2015.
the engines are junk timing chains are of poor quality and costs thousands to replace as soon as the warranty is out get shot of whatever the chocolate engine is
Does the video show the bit where Willy Wonka designed the chocolate timing chain?
The engine is pants, mine blew up at 75k requiring a rebuild, total cost 6.8k. You'll hear the same story by a lot of other affected owners.
I have 115,000 miles on mine also running a piggyback ecu and intake, but still no issues.
Looks amazing. It should last around 30k Mls
Doesnt show how its built, it shows only how it transits factory!!!!
I'm a life long Jag fan and think it's a well designed engine but as far as engine building videos go it's one of the worst
Spot on ☹️😡
You're probably in a minority, wait till you get to 80k on your odometer ;-)
@@BaybieKI’m on 80k, still waiting for something to happen😂

@@BaybieKReally sorry to hear that. I’d avoid BMW, a friend had a 2.0 diesel which blew up because of a timing chain failure.
Runs like a pneumatic drill, sounds like a sewing machine and has a tendency to blow itself up at very low mileages.
60k on this engine had no problems at all. Strong engine.
Mine also has one of these and they are very good. Awesome power and fuel economy.
Rubbish

This engine is full of problems.

This is just a video of the engine being moved around the factory, what a waste of my time !
exactly..... it's a hoax video.
That showed us nothing on how they are made. Too many repeat, back and forth, back and forth shots of the same parts. Awful music.
Total crap. Fuel in the oil sump being a major problem.
First I have heard of this problem.... are talking about the Ford based 2.7 diesel engines?
Oil dilution?

Rubbish timing chains on these engines

Single-handedly one of the worst diesel engines made from a reliability perspective. JLR should be ashamed.
