What I really love about the dynamic between these two is that Liza is really letting Lorna shine. You can see the love and pride that they have for each other and neither is trying to upstage the other. This is a very touching interview
Such real and wonderful women they all are...Judy was so taken advantage of by the short sided businessmen without a heart. We love you Lorna, and Liza...stay strong! God bless your Mama!
5:35 made me cry. Liza saw that Lorna was crying and she couldn’t finished the sentence so she did it idk bout you but that was touching. And when they hugged and said I love you and so on.
I think this comment would've made Judy very happy. It's clear, whatever people may want to say about Ms. Garland, she loved her kids and they loved her.
Amen.. I really hope and pray that Judy Garland is in heaven looking down at her beautiful children. She was the most famous star of her time and natural Performer. But like you said her best work were her children. God bless Judy Garland and her children!!!
Haha, when Lorna says "There isn't an age difference anymore," Liza totally smirks and winks at the interviewer like "That's what she thinks." Classic older sibling, always looking out for the little sister.
Okay, I cried. Really good to see these two sisters together. Sounds as though they all have worked hard to overcome the hardships. It must have been hard for Liza to feel like she needed to be the adult, then Lorna the adult for her brother.
I really like what Lorna said about how "you can't blame ignorance". I never thought of Judys situation with MGM, Drugs, and the lack of knowledge of addiction with ignorance, but now I have a better understanding. I really like Lorna's elaboration on that. She and Liza are very intelligent
klassicalmuzik they pumped her to keep her awake, they wanted her to sleep and oh get her to lose weight...Judy couldn’t win. A blessing for children but a loss for such a great talent who was blameless.
Like I said above, they didn't care one way or the other though, just wanted the goose that laid the golden egg to keep raking in the dough. Kinda how our republican Congress feels about us little people.
I met Lorna in LA in 2003 at a restaurant...she was SO nice and real..she gave me ticket's to see TWO of her shows ..for free...The show was Fantastic and that girl can Sang !! Yeah, Sang ...what a show....But in the end, NOBODY< NOBODY can touch Judy's talent ...World's Greatest Entertainer EVER !!! xoxo
Lizas mannerisms and humour is exactly like Judys! And Lornas voice is more similar to Judys. They both seem such amazing women!✨so talented and driven, intelligent! Judy would be so proud😭💞
Never knew he was a photographer...I wandered if he sang too.(He probably can sing too...)if he was in the business in that way..All of Judy's kids are Talented..
Amanda Allen yes it's joe in the 60s interview. We have never really seen him since or heard from him. What is Joe's surname? Is it Luft (like Lorna?). Judy only had Liza with Vincente didn't she?
Ben Schaeffer I think one of the problems with Lorna is her honesty and transparency. Showbusiness depends on persona or mask to make it work and to activate or alchemize the magic. Lorna wears her heart on her sleeve. Judy and Liza both possess this ability to project persona (a mask) - which is a form of artifice or artfulness. And that's what makes them great performers. With Lorna there seems to be less "mystery" or less complexity; and I think that's what perhaps may have hampered her career and kept her from becoming iconic like her mother or older half-sister. Iconic fame is such a strange beast because here you have 3 women and a younger brother/son Joey. And yet only 2 of them became iconic. Why? They're all from the same family. The answer lay in the mystery of persona: A preternatural ability to project suffering (even when happy) of some kind and the drama (or comedy) of the human condition. Like Judy, Liza knew how to own the stage and make the grand gesture; their performativity was masterful. Posture, gesture, pose, carriage, phrasing, rhythm, pace, kisnestetics, style and grace: all these "soft" skills or sensorial skills are really important and very understudied. People these days all think having a great "voice" is enough. Reality Television franchises like 'X Factor' or 'The Voice' are sardine cans of really great "singers". But who cares?!!!!!Singing well simply isn't enough. Judy's and Liza's voices in fact aren't really that "great" ... when you listen closely. They're often hoarse or too breathy and even sometimes off-key. But WE 'children of Dorothy' don't care! There are a multitude of far greater technical singers out there. (The same could be said of Maria Callas: there were far greater technical opera "singers" but no one could act AND sing AND interpret a story like La Callas!)- same for Judy. Same for Liza! No one can SELL a song like Judy or Liza. Lorna sings well but she doesn't sell it like Mamma did and certainly doesn't "interpret" or "act" through the song the way Liza and 'Mamma' could. Unlike Lorna, they were actresses who sang. Those women act out a song by belting it! That's what selling is: pitching/presenting/spruiking and closing the deal with a big strapping belt! Judy and Liza (along with Frank, Dean and Bing) are the greatest saleswomen and spruikers of the American songbook of the 20th century. Singing is quite something else. That isn't to take away their talent or not pay them their due, but I think the differences should be noted because most people appreciate them but have no connoisseurship about what it is that they're appreciating. 'Ma & Pa Kettle' and even your average queen from San Fran or NYC thinks it's all faaaabulous dahhhling. But no.... Sales is the true Gumm-Garland-Minelli legacy. Not their singing.
Judy got the wizard of Oz, Liza got cabaret. Lorna never got that iconic roll like her mother and her sister unfortunately. If she had this wouldn’t be a debate. Can you name any other roll that was as iconic for Liza besides Cabaret? Not really. Yes her special Liza with a Z. But that’s about it. Judy however had wizard, St. Louie, a star is born, the list goes on. Unfortunately Lorna got Grease 2, 😂 I love her in that movie but it’s not what you would call Oscar worthy. All that aside. 2 very talented daughters of the most talented woman to ever grace the stage and screen.
It’s so sad Judy Garland was so young when she passed away. She was a amazing actress! She is over the rainbow 🌈 now. She is in heaven and she is in peace.
Lorna is a force. I saw her in Guys and Dolls and when she came out for her bow the house came down. Judy was the entertainer of the century and a beauty. Seeing Liza at Carnegie hall was like seeing a meteor, a pillar of power. I love these women.
Stephanie Stanley What s beautiful tribute I love them as I loved their mother Seeing her as a child on Tv and being enthralled by every performance ! Got to see Liza in 86 unforgettable Ice only seen Lorna on interviews and am so happy about the people they have become
My first impression of Lorna was bland, medicore child using her mom's fame for public face --- but i completely change my mind upon watching this interview. She was a daughter and little sister smack dab in the middle of everything from show biz to family chaos. And somehow managed to become a down to earth, sensible adult with a great sense of humor. I can say I'm now a fan of Lorna Luft. Love the sister's chemistry in this interview. She may not look identical to Judy but she has a special place in the world and her mother's story no doubt.
I'm getting there too. My only exposure to Lorna up til now was reading a catty review when i was younger, which dubbed 'songs my mother taught me' 'songs my mother sang better', and I unfairly based my opinion on that. It's good to see her as herself here. Judy and Liza's warmth, openness and vulnerability are a good part of what makes them so magnetic and endearing to people. Lorna doesn't give me those vibes at all, but then, why should she? she isn't them - she's Lorna. It's not her job to be like her mother, or her sister; and it's wrong of people to expect/demand her to be. It's her job to be the best version of herself she can be.
Say what you want, Judy did try to instill common sense and self-worth in her children. And I have no doubt that Vincente and Sid provided the rest for the children to grow up relatively normal.
It's funny, isn't it. Liza has her looks, and they both have some very striking aspects of her voice. They've done such a great job with the arrangements/harmonies for her duets with Judy. Inspired stuff!
I never had a sister - and wanted to have one so much. I have two older brothers with a large gap between us. THEY are close like this. I cry with these sisters... and the sister I wished I always had.
Mc Kenna One day you will have a daughter Don't cry precious one I see what you saw in the video The love those 2 sisters have Liza and Lorna I just love what u said in the comment
Mc Kenna: You can have my sister! She’s pure evil & has even committed murder. I don’t know how she does it but she gets away with all her crimes. She should be locked up so no one else suffers because of her.
I saw Lorna Luft at the Kate in Connecticut and she was dynamite. 90 min of pure energetic entertainment . She sang songs from the greatest songwriters ever!!! Pure enjoyment. Her piano player was smoking...
Owing to Judy mother's driving force and MGM having audtioned Judy positively, aged 7 she got the opportunity to be sb in the grand show biz... and her talents and AMBITION and love for working with people all around the clock were the name of the game. Her gorgeous daugthers didn't have a chance to perform vaudeville numbers like Judy did aged 2 to 7 along with her sisters- The Gumm Sisters of course. ... Judy was born to be the largest diva-kind of singer and performer in history. Wit, charm, talents, stamina and love make miracles for her. Yet at times something's got to give. She realy loved men... unfortunatelly for her Judy didnt make a better research per se beforhand. She wholeheartedly grabbed the guys and placed them close to her enormous heart and soul for good...
These two are so adorable together, loving Judy's tribute to Lorna too. I do feel in some ways, that when Judy passed on, her spotlight was shone straight onto Liza and Lorna was left in the dark, jumping up and down with her hands in the air, wanting so badly what her sister had and she never quite got there. But MAN, you can really really tell that Liza is Judy's daughter, in so many ways, its so striking!
Beautiful!! First time watching this, didn't realize Liza had a younger sister. Two beautiful gems! Judy would be so proud! Liza looks and sounds like her Mother, Lorna has an amazing voice! Rest In Peace!
Judy Garland and Vincent Minnelli looked very much alike. Liza looks like both of them and sounds like her mom. Lorna looks like Sid Luft and sounds nothing like her mom.
Neither of Judy's daughters had the smooth strong vebrato like Judy. Lorna all but yells her songs and Judy was smart enough to control her technique and start a song and built it up to the climax where she would let go and knock the socks off her audience. Judy was the original and didnt have to compete with any person in her family and she had the most beautiful voice the world had ever known.
This is the first time I am seeing this piece- perhaps because I'm Stateside - but I thoroughly enjoyed it and learned so many things I had never known about Ms. Garland in addition to the beautiful bond Liza and Lorna share. Bravo!
Wow, beautiful sisters. I have so much more respect for Lorna and Liza. And heartbreak for Judy. She deserved a very long and happy life with her children.
Lorna sitting with Liza in this interview seems very similar to Judy sitting with her in that Barbra Walters interview, very similar body language and pride from Liza and Judy
Lorna is such a kind, caring, compassionate woman. Thank goodness she took care of her mother as best as she could. She, Liza, and Judy were all such special women... each unique and very gifted in their own special way. I am grateful that this (and the other) videos were made about them.
It is very amazing that Lorna doesn't hold grudges against MGM. However, MGM and Garland's own mother put such pressure and insecurity on Garland that I don't think the studio would have stopped the drugs even if they knew the consequences.
I share the same experience as they do. My father was addicted to drugs before and after i was born. My mom's side of the family were alcoholics some not all of them. I too battled drugs and alcohol. It can be scary and sad moments.
Addiction is NOT A DISEASE!!! Addiction is just that........"AN ADDICTION," AND ANYONE CAN GET ADDICTED to an "addictive substance"........especially when the "men in black" were shoving it down her throat in order to keep the $$$$ rolling in. And, don't think for ONE MINUTE "they didn't know" what they were doing to her. The drug companies knew.........EVERYONE IN POWER KNEW...........it's just the "slaves" that hadn't woken up yet to what was happening to them. Unfortunately, Judy Garland was a VICTIM........JUST LIKE MICHAEL JACKSON.........HOLLYWOOD PUSHES YOU AND PUSHES YOU..........YOU ARE NOT A HUMAN BEING.......YOU ARE A "HUMAN RESOURCE"........IT WAS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY. And, funny.........NOT SO FUNNY..........she made ALL THAT MONEY, AND WAS LEFT PENNILESS..........THEY EXPLOITED HER, AND ROBBED HER BLIND........😢🤔🤢
The more I listen to Lorna, the more I find myself disliking her. If she truly loved and cared about her mom the way Judy loved and cared about her kids, she wouldn't tell some of the things she talks about. I would never tell all, I would protect my mom from the blood thirsty press.I would never pile on her so I could receive the sympathy of the World wide audience, and to advance my career. Judy was a huge VICTIM, HER WHOLE LIFE. FIRST BY HER MOM, AND THEN THE IDIOTS ST METRO (give her another pill, get her in front of that camera. We did but, it didn't work, then give her another one) that worked, and the addiction was underway. I don't blame Judy for the rotten things that happened in her life, i blame the bloodsuckers who treated Judy like a thing, not a person. And, all those who had a shot at helping her, but, didn't. To all of those who used and abused her, I truly hope you're rotting in hell. THANK YOU JUDY FOR ALL THE ENTERTAINMENT OVER THE COURSE OF MY LIFE. just between you and me, some of my favorite songs are: Mack the Black, The Texas Tornado, Get Happy, Howdy Neighbor, How about you, Be a Clown, A Couple of Swells (You destroyed Fred in that number), and I Was Born In Michigan, the La Conga, AND OF COURSE THE SONG THAT IS KNOWN WORLD WIDE, THE SONG THAT IS YOURS AND YOURS ALONE. NEVER HAS A SONG, AND IT'S SINGER FIT SO WELL TOGETHER. JUDY AND OVER THE RAINBOW WERE TOTALLY INSEPARABLE. HAROLD ARLEN WAS BLOCKED, HE COULDN'T WRITE A NOTE THAT HE LIKED, HE AND HIS WIFE WERE GOING TO DINNER ONE NIGHT, AND HAROLD ASKED HER TO PULL OVER, HE TOOK A SMALL PAD OF PAPER OUT OF HIS POCKET, AND WROTE THE MUSIC FOR OVER THE RAINBOW. AFTER THEY GOT HOME FROM DINNER HAROLD CALLED YIP HARBURG WHO HAD BEEN WAITING FOR HAROLD TO GET UNBLOCKED. YIP BANGED OUT THE LYRICS IN NO TIME, HENCE, OVER THE RAINBOW. IT WAS WELL WORTH THE WAIT. By the way, when Yip heard the song he didn't want to use it. He felt Harold should write a Symphony with what he wrote. Harold said no, Hence, OVER THE RAINBOW WAS BORN. True story, I heard Mr. Arlen tell it himself.
I can't forget the fact that their mother ended up homless and strugling to survive by the help of stragers and died overdosed on sleeping pills meanwhile the two sisters were following their own dreams and greed and fake hollywood fame .
the facts will not back up that reply / Liza did help not that it is really any of my business, but Ms. Garland as the mom, Mothers can hide things from kids, i am sure as we all were when we lost parents, they were devestaed at her loss and probaby had questions and did not know what to do. if they facts are correct they had no so say on the funeral arrangements or other plans.
I think Rene Zellweger did an amazing job on portraying Judy Garland in the movie Judy. I think she looked back on stories of Judy's life and her children. Rene, my heart's out to you ! I am so impressed by you. Always a fan of yours
Judy was a legend in her own right, but I still believe her biggest accomplishment was motherhood. She may not have always gotten it right but then what parent does? Her daughters both truned out to be wonderful, caring, funny, smart and most of all LOYAL women. Judy should be proud that she had something to do with that.
Judy garland brought up 3 beautiful children I am 74 years old always love Judy singing i got a few cd.love to put them on and listen to her voice at times i cry I don't care she had some problems She was a good singer and actress It's mgm.fault She never need it those pills She was always very petite She had a beautiful figure Liza and Lorna also beautiful girls You could see the love they had I don't remember the brother name He was gorgeous to I love seeing there old show when young So Judy garland was a star And a beautiful mom U could the love she had for her kids When she sang u could almost feel a sadness in her voice That why i cry wben i hear her sing The 2 sisters are just amazing Love you guys
Aging sucks. Lorna was so beautiful when she was in that awful movie Where The Boys Are and she could pull off playing a character much younger than she actually was. Oh well, the law of nature at play...can't escape it.
I don't think she will--she's more grounded. she's had a couple of rough spots--but I never got the feeling that Liza would go under---she's got both feet on the ground and always managed to pull her self from the edge. Way to go Liza! We love you!!
I had the privilege of meeting Lorna Luft backstage after her concert at the Bradford Alhambra. What a lovely, and kind lady. I'm glad she made peace with her legacy.
What I really love about the dynamic between these two is that Liza is really letting Lorna shine. You can see the love and pride that they have for each other and neither is trying to upstage the other. This is a very touching interview
Liza has the most amazing soulful eyes. How could she not? Both her parents had beautiful sad cow eyes.
Such real and wonderful women they all are...Judy was so taken advantage of by the short sided businessmen without a heart. We love you Lorna, and Liza...stay strong! God bless your Mama!
What's the name of the man speaking at 2:21?????
5:35 made me cry. Liza saw that Lorna was crying and she couldn’t finished the sentence so she did it idk bout you but that was touching. And when they hugged and said I love you and so on.
I love having a sister. No one else understands you more, if you're lucky and have a good one.
She sounded so much like Judy
Painting Animals On Rocks Yes indeed, and I lost mine february 2019 and it is nearly killing me too. I am in tears watching this.
Beautiful...Take a Bow Judy Garland, This is your best work
I love this
I think this comment would've made Judy very happy.
What a lovely comment!🙌🙌🙌

Liza is so gracious towards Lorna; she seems to have her mother's spirit and heart. She's blessed to look so much like Judy Garland.
I think Lorna should do comedy she's very funny, But as for singing, dancing and acting I think Liza is the more talented sister.
I met Lorna in LA in 2003 at a restaurant...she was SO nice and real..she gave me ticket's to see TWO of her shows ..for free...The show was Fantastic and that girl can Sang !! LIZA Loves Lorna.
If she does give her a couple of million dollar, but love of money wins every time........
Lizas mannerisms and humour is exactly like Judys! And Lornas voice is more similar to Judys. They both seem such amazing women!✨so talented and driven, intelligent! Judy would be so proud😭💞
Judy Garland was GORGEOUS!
Joe lives a quiet life. He is a photographer. He is well and creates lovely work.
Elizabeth Kelly He's brain damaged from when Judy did drugs when pregnant with him
He really has brain damage?
Never knew he was a photographer...I wandered if he sang too.(He probably can sing too...)if he was in the business in that way..All of Judy's kids are Talented..
Is that Joe next to Lorna in the documentary?
Amanda Allen yes it's joe in the 60s interview. We have never really seen him
since or heard from him. What is Joe's surname? Is it Luft (like Lorna?). Judy only had Liza with Vincente didn't she?
I take it back. Lorna can sing. However, I still think Liza has the bigger voice and more talent.
Yeap! I agree. Judy and Liza have 'star' quality written all over them.
The TALENT is equal !
@@napoleongracemarshall7651 Not so!

I saw Lorna at the Canon Theater in Beverly Hills. Amazing! Afterward, I ran into Debbie Reynolds who was in the audience. This was 2003.

Liza and Judy had two different voices and Lorna's voice is just likw her mother's
Barry Manilow
"Lorna" with lyrics by Johnny Mercer - wow!
Liza looks so much like Judy
All her tics and mannerisms and even her voice too.
The brother looks liza what a about him is it chrispher.
I was going to say the same thing.
What about the brother!
Judy would be very proud of her two daugters and her son.
wasn't Lorna Paulette in grease 2?
Yes she was and she played Carol in "Where the boys are" 84" love her
Lorna sounds more like Judy to me.
It's funny, isn't it. Liza has her looks, and they both have some very striking aspects of her voice. They've done such a great job with the arrangements/harmonies for her duets with Judy. Inspired stuff!
I actually liked Liza better than Judy. I think it was the type of music.
I never had a sister - and wanted to have one so much. I have two older brothers with a large gap between us. THEY are close like this.
I cry with these sisters... and the sister I wished I always had.
Mc Kenna
One day you will have a daughter
Don't cry precious one
I see what you saw in the video
The love those 2 sisters have
Liza and Lorna
I just love what u said in the comment
I have 2 older ones and they don't care one bit of crap about me, so it's not always so great.
Mc Kenna: You can have my sister! She’s pure evil & has even committed murder. I don’t know how
she does it but she gets away with all her crimes. She should be locked up so no one else suffers because of her.
Liane Layman yup....I know how feel... but they’re are not even worth our feelings☺️
Same! And now that I’m older and I’ve had my kids I have 3boys lol I guess it wasn’t meant
what about Joey?
I hope liza is happy i hate to see her go the same way as her mum
sounds like her--but looks are much more her fathers'--she's very italian looking.
I loved Judy..so talented and real. Lorna and Liza are like their mother...all the honesty and realness. Good luck, girls!
how is Judy's son doing
Yeah. Let’s find that out.

Wow... I can't imagine anyone not knowing who she is!
Liza looks so Good, I do see a lot of her mother in her.
I miss old Hollywood. What great actresses and Actors!! Old Hollywood is missed so much!
I love this. That man Liza married was a weirdo. I was afraid he was going to harm her
Thank-you for posting this! I read Lorna's book years ago & hoped that they'd reconcile. This is truly a find.
I have goosebumps in 2019. I would do anything to see this live.
I love them! They are so cute together!
If Judy could see her girls talking and bantering and supporting each other like this, she'd be the proudest mama in the world.
Beautiful!! First time watching this, didn't realize Liza had a younger sister. Two beautiful gems! Judy would be so proud!
Liza looks and sounds like her Mother, Lorna has an amazing voice!

i think liza looks just like judy and even sounds just like her
She LOOKS just like her father...
Yes, she definitely looks like her father.
Did Lorna ever become a big success? I hope so, she seems nice.
They’re Half-Sisters! ❤️
It is so wonderful to see this love between Lorna and Liza.
This is the first time I am seeing this piece- perhaps because I'm Stateside - but I thoroughly enjoyed it and learned so many things I had never known about Ms. Garland in addition to the beautiful bond Liza and Lorna share. Bravo!
by golly THEY BOTH INHERERITED their mother's voice. WOW
Liza sounds just like her mama
I cried, like a big ass baby
The one in the blonde she's a Scorpio the one in the black hair she's a Pisces
Lorna is such a kind, caring, compassionate woman. Thank goodness she took care of her mother as best as she could. She, Liza, and Judy were all such special women... each unique and very gifted in their own special way. I am grateful that this (and the other) videos were made about them.
Does anyone know whatever happened to Joe Luft? No one ever seems to talk about him...
It is very amazing that Lorna doesn't hold grudges against MGM. However, MGM and Garland's own mother put such pressure and insecurity on Garland that I don't think the studio would have stopped the drugs even if they knew the consequences.
Judy was not an alcoholic ... the medical report after her death stated there was no sign of abuse of drink ... it was the pills ... not the drink ...
Just a beautiful...😍🤩
Liza Minelli is so much like her mother Judy Garland. Its uncanny.
Diane Phillips She’s not really. She is the spitting image of her dad.
Correction...Father & Son literally but mind control slaves think its Mother and Daughter!!
Brilliant! Her mama would be so proud
I share the same experience as they do. My father was addicted to drugs before and after i was born. My mom's side of the family were alcoholics some not all of them. I too battled drugs and alcohol. It can be scary and sad moments.
My mother was an alcoholic. She stopped 20 years before she died.
Gotta love my two cousins, Liza and Lorna!
i am such a huge fan
are you really related?
leadiesister13 Who are you?
Great Lorna! Love you both you and sister! Judy Garland my all time fav
Lorna is so honest and open. Liza is so protective of her mother and sister. She knows she needs to.
And, all those who had a shot at
helping her, but, didn't.
I absolutely love Liza and Lorna!!!
She was a good mother. I salute her!
That was so beautiful with her singing behind her mother oh my God I loved it it touched my heart💗
LOrna is so beautiful and such a great singer my Lord...I wish I saw her show......
ROZYLAND2008 - yep, I agree with you.
I think Rene Zellweger did an amazing job on portraying Judy Garland in the movie Judy. I think she looked back on stories of Judy's life and her children. Rene, my heart's out to you ! I am so impressed by you. Always a fan of yours
both woman are amazing
Judy was a legend in her own right, but I still believe her biggest accomplishment was motherhood. She may not have always gotten it right but then what parent does?
Her daughters both truned out to be wonderful, caring, funny, smart and most of all LOYAL women.
Judy should be proud that she had something to do with that.
Lorna reminds me just a little bit of Mae West :}
Judy's mother gave her the drugs at home that studio doctors prescribed for her.
Judy garland brought up 3 beautiful children

A Foggy Day in London Town is a nightmare to sing, take it from me.. anything by the Gershwins is HARD
She made sure her children were nothing like her what an amazing mother she was!
Love this interview, made it so personal for all sisters.
@cam11971 he's a photographer in New York he's actually very talented!
Liza sounds soo much like Judy when she talks. I didnt actually know that Liza was her daughter I only found out a few years ago.
Lorna said her mothers drug addiction started at the studio...yet in part 1, her autobiography states judys mother started her on the drugs.
Liza is iconic. Just seeing her is amazing!
I had the privilege of meeting Lorna Luft backstage after her concert at the Bradford Alhambra. What a lovely, and kind lady. I'm glad she made peace with her legacy.
