In January 2014 this nice old girl ran aground while re-entering Mumbai Harbour, luckily no sailor was injured and INS Sindhughosh was salvaged and towed to her berth, thank god she neither was damaged.

Yes that's a major problem. Actually speaking, a lot of the submarines in the world are of that age. However, the major problem as we can see in this video - is that the submarine is so very noisy! this sub deserves to be scrapped because it is a coffin for the sailors. That much of noise can be detected by ships 1000s of kms away!
Actually Kilo is very quiet for a sub, diesel propulsion is fairly loud however... not sure if you are aware but... when submerged... it runs on batteries...so its quiet..
i dont know where your learning is coming from ? submarines are not smart phone that can be changed and updated... they are highly sophisticated machines that has a life span of 20-30 years !!! , The Indian Army is capable enough to understand what it requires !!
would venture that all submariners(all nations) are some of the smartest people of their navies..have to be..well trained..complex and difficult decisions..the machinery alone is a challenge to master and learn...much respect to these warriors..

No way it still has a dam periscope! The British were the first to get rid of them years ago, and replaced them with cameras and tv screens with high tech everything! Yes , the submarine is a diesel-electric one. It was commissioned in 1986 and will soon be decommissioned once the entire scorpene submarine field is operational. This is a TV food reality show and thus they were allowed to go inside the submarine. The latest Arihant class and scorpene class submarines are access restricted.
As an Indian in the US Navy, I couldn’t do this. So outdated ships, outdated standards. I mean, I have been in worse condition during combat. But daily in this is too much. Feels like factories during the industrial revolution. I respect my brother in arms, even tho we are in different militaries. I know not every country can spend trillions in military as us Americans.
