Many Irish men became mercenaries and there were entire units in the Spanish Army made up of Irishmen. More than likely one of the Irish soldiers in the Spanish Army married a local woman and you and your father are their descendants. Bernardo O'Huggins, considered "The George Washington of Chile" who led the rebellion against the Spanish in 1812 was the son of a Chilean woman and an Irish mercenary.

The foundation of American music!! When my people traveled across the waters in the early 1700s they brought this music with them as they toiled the soil in the fields of Appalachia.
Beautiful music. Definitely a crucial part of the foundation of American music along with African/Black music. American music is a wonderful mix of these cultures and musical traditions, plus Native American, Mexican, and other European influences. It's so cool! Country music exemplifies this and you can hear all these influences in it.

WOW super ❤️❤️❤️❤️
No better way to teach History than to use songs. I had relatives come over in 40. This is the closest I have come to their story. God Bless.
Recently , 3 years ago got into irish folk music and I love it. Seems like it speaks to my soul. Maybe old irish roots?

Wonderful music
Wonderful, bitter-sweet music, whose influence over in the States is at the heart of Country music. Excellent stuff, you bog-trotters!!
Your right.
Si , la madre del country
Adoroooooo
I’m half Irish, but I feel like I could fully embrace that part of me
I liked scrolling through all the comments with people from all over the world how have an affinity with Ireland and a love for the music. I am English with close Irish ancestry currently living in Canada. I relate to the person who said he remembered his grandfather singing these songs with his eyes closed and drifting in perfect peace. For oppressed people throughout the world they will recognize that feeling. Thank you so much for compiling these songs. It feels like Home
A great selection of beautiful songs.
Great music

The foundation of American music!! When my people traveled across the waters in the early 1700s they brought this music with them as they toiled the soil in the fields of Appalachia.
Theres a lot of irish in the old appalachia music, still holds a sense of irish folk today
Beautiful music. Definitely a crucial part of the foundation of American music along with African/Black music. American music is a wonderful mix of these cultures and musical traditions, plus Native American, Mexican, and other European influences. It's so cool! Country music exemplifies this and you can hear all these influences in it.
