Rich did they improve their P90s? They sound good on your video but I have a few casinos and the P90's were missing some top end. Some say because of the chrome pickup covers. IDK
Olive drab us in fact a "real" color, mostly associated with the U.S. Army, which used it as their standard color for just about everything (uniforms, tanks, jeeps you name it) for decades. Looks great on the Casinos I think!
I bought the worn ebony version of this guitar and had a luthier carve a real bone nut for it and do a setup, fret polish and intonation ....all in all after having that done I have a bucketlist guitar that I love...can't put it down....the P 90s are amazingly versatile and unplugged this thing rings out....I almost want to buy a second one as a backup....found my comfort zone with the Casino!

Just picked one of these up “used” for $400 CAD. Still had the protective plastic on the pickups. I can’t get a bad tone out of it, it’s absolutely brilliant. Those P90s through an AC15 sound amazing. Pure rock n’ roll goodness!
Often simply called OD Green, is a nice matte green that blends well into foilage and frankly easy to maintain in WW2 era. Still popular in mil gear today, and surprisingly a classic colour option on guitars too. I like this hollow body, even with way the upper frets will be made nigh impossible for me to use. Thanks Rich for a good demo.
This is the first demo video that I hear fully how good it sounds. Don't know if it's other vids' microphones or what, but it's def coming through nicely here. Thanks!
As a child (I was born in the GDR) I had a GDR army toy truck. It was that color too. And the GDR spinach also had an olive-green color. I really liked this toy car. And I like to ate the spinach. These positive, early childhood experiences were probably the decisive factor in buying this guitar in olive. 😜
Hi Rich. I wanted to just add a little note about the color. Olive drab was the color of everything in the Army until they went to the battle dress camouflage patterns of today. Love your reviews! Thank you for what you do!
Thank you Rich very nice review What I enjoy about your reviewing is that you demonstrate what a guitar can do and demonstrate it nicely. Instead of ragging on what a guitar cannot do.
Dude.... now that's how you do a review. How in the world you don't have more views and likes that you do on this I'll never know. Great review, tell us what you're doing and then play it. Let us decide and don't try to sell it to us. "Let's try that middle pickup with a little bit of dirt"............then bangs out some STP hahah. That was awesome. I sub'd off this video, really enjoyed it. I just found out about this guitar. It's either this one or an Ibanez hollow body, I like them both, but I think I may like this one a tad bit more
Anyone know the why the casino archtop costs 200$ more than the worn series? Looks like the only difference is the finish and maybe fretboard material ?
couple other things about this guitar....remove the pickguard and it gives better access to the switch....reverse the saddle on the G string and move it as far back as you can get it for intonation...trick I learned from the luthier...highly recommend these instruments but also recommend getting a pro to put a better nut on and do a setup....
Good advice. In my experience new guitars from the factory usually need a pro setup. Even those a that are bit more expensive and where the reviews say “set up and plays beautifully right out of the box”. A good setup, and other tweaks as you’ve mentioned, make such a big difference in the playability and enjoyment of a guitar.
Probably a bit off-topic, od green is a well known military color. So I guess they’re saying you’ll have a weapon in your hands. Anyway new here and liked what i’ve seen so far.
I can’t believe the price point for these. Here I sit with two LP standards, two American fenders, an sg special… and I’m like “yep, I need this too”. Looks like I’ll be getting a few bit-o-honeys from sweetwater soon haha
If I were in on the identification of this finish, I would probably choose to call it "worn metallic grey" instead. That is simply my 2 cents. Olive drab is the finish applied to the Chris Cornell Gibson 335. This doesn't look like its equal. I might still have the Casino in natural I bought 3 years ago, but it wasn't really for me. I like the P90s, but I sorely missed the center block. Not a fan of gratuitous squeal when I push both the gain and the EQ. Much happier with my current thinline w/ P90s, a Modern Player Thinline Deluxe Telecaster.
Do you have the vintage sunburst version? I ask because the worn has pro P-90's and the vintage sunburst has classic T and R P-90's and would love a tone comparison between them. I also read the pro P-90 pickups are humbuckers in a P-90 size so they should in theory help with the feedback. Thanks
Thanks for this posting Rich, I think this is a nice sounding guitar and the worn ebony would be my choice. Maybe farther down the line I would get one since I really like P-90's and have never owned a semi-hollow body guitar. Epiphone has done a great job with this model especially for the price point.
The Air Force veteran that I am I can tell you olive drab is based the color, olive drab, military vehicles; tanks, jeeps, portable photo reconnaissance labs and tents are painted. It’s non reflective to make them harder for the enemy to see when they are dropping bombs.
What looks like a Q is real an O with a spur on the bottom of it. I played in a band called Spur Of The Momement. They eventually changed their name to "The Moment" because I think they thought spur of the moment sounded to country. The band shuffled through several members through the years, at one point the did a reunion show and invited former members and made t shirts.
A little flautist guitar on upper frets? I wish they would’ve use rosewood instead! I like the color but ebony or rosewood would have been a no brainer

Saves me having to play above the 15th fret!
This guitar, with your demonstration and playing, just goes to show what a versatile instrument a semi- hollow guitar can be. With P90’s no less!
It's not semi hollow...it's fully hollow...no center block...it only weighs 5 lbs +
@@gregmock6808 Thanks for the clarification. Very light!
Loved the opening blues jam. Olive drab = Army color in my book. Especially in a flat finish.
Olive drab is the name for green used in the military. I thought it was a weird name when I learned about it in boot camp. Great videos man!
I must say - that sounds great with those P90's - and of course your playing is superb as always. Thanks Rich!

Cool guitar... never thought I'd be interested in an Epi but for $500 that's a deal IMO.
This is the best blues demo I've seen on this guitar.
Well alrighty! Great chops, and ALL Army jeeps are painted with the color Olive Drab
Thought I recognized that color.
Anybody like/dislike the slim-taper C neck? Compared to the usual epi slim taper D? Thickness at first fret? Great tone demo.
Thank you Dave
How many Kohms does they wound on those new ones? Have one from 2014 and they wound it for 12,2K. Too hot for P90 IMO and doubley for hollow guitar.
May I know what distortion pedal and amp did you use? Thank you.
Another great video Rich. If you had to pick between the Casino and the Gretsch G2622 P90, which one would you find most satisfying to play and hear?

Agreed. Laurel is just not a great fingerboard material.
Cool design but the design of the fret board is a no, so hard to reach the last fret.
‘Olive drab’ is the military issue uniform colour back in the day.
I haven’t stopped making inquiries to buy one since I saw this vid. So much more expensive in Australia!!
Sorry to hear that.
