As a Shakespeare nerd, it was so cool reading Hamnet! It was interesting that, for once, Shakespeare was not the focus of attention and wasn’t even mentioned by name. I’m definitely planning for a reread soon!
As an immigrant myself I can say that A Memory Called Empire has one of the best and most accurate descriptions of an immigrant experience I've ever read (and I read a lot). There's an episode in the book where the protagonist attends a cultural event and muses about never quite fitting in despite studying the dominant culture pretty much her whole life, and how it would've been different if she actually grew up on the inside, and this floored me when I read the novel for the first time because of how similar her thoughts were to mine.
I absolutely adore The Winternight Trilogy. It is my absolute favorite trilogy. It's even better when re-read, because there are so many nuances to Arden's writing that you may not notice the first time.
I just read A River Enchanted and its sequel off of your recommendation and it was so good! I loved the enchantment and magic of the island along with the very human themes it explored. Definitely a wonderful read ❤
The All Souls series, The Plated Prisoner series and the ACOTAR series are my 3 favourite series ever! I’m currently reading ACOSF for the first time and I’m in LOVE!!!
It’s so lovely to hear you gush about the Winternight trilogy because it’s one of my all time favourites as well and I just want everyone to experience it! 🩷
Pierce Brown's Red Rising Trilogy was at the top of my list for years and then I stumbled upon The Green Bone Saga. Now they are both at the top of my list! I have finished reading City of Stairs trilogy and Foundryside by RJB and I can not thank you enough for introducing me to this author! Foundryside's magic system is just so crafty and City of Stairs was terrifying, like nothing I have ever read before.
The Green Bone saga was indeed quite good. It's always hard for me to pick all time faves, as there are so many books I love. Nevertheless, here are some I have loved, both older and more recently: Noble Dead saga, Heaven Official's Blessing, Silk & Steel trilogy, Captive Prince trilogy, Husky & His White Cat Shizun, Six of Crows duology...
i cannot recommend unlikely animals by annie hartnett enough!! forever one of my all time favorites. it's both funny and lighthearted whilst also tackling some more serious subject matters, and showing the relationships within a small town and how much love people within a community can have for one another. so so beautiful i wish more people would read it
Hamnet destroyed me in the best of ways and it's one of my top books of last year. I literally OWN all of the other books you mentioned and I'm so glad you rekindled my desire to read them ASAP. Great video!

Had completely forgotten about Foundryside. I’m just wrapping up my current read, think I’ll try this series next! Need to go find your Foundryside reading vlogs though
I also recently bought a River Enchanted and Foundryside because of you!!! I bought Foundryside during a trip to England and the uk cover is definitely not as pretty as the one you have, but I am so intrigued by the story. Cant wait to start on it soon☺️
Arkady Martine did release a novella last year called Rose/House! It had a limited print run from subterranean press but is easily available for ebook and audiobook. It was a great retelling of a gothic classic. I've loved all of her books so far, I'm happy to hear you do too!!
Hamnet is definitely in my top 3 books of all time!! Maggie O' Farrell has one of the most unique writing styles and its just so captivating. I don't know if you're aware of this Reagan but they are actually turning it into a movie with Paul Mescal as Shakespeare and Jessie Buckley as Agnes. I"m so beyond excited and really hope they do the book justice!
Some of my all-time favs: The Kushiel's Legacy Trilogy by Jacqueline Carey; The Black Jewels Trilogy by Anne Bishop; the Kate Daniels series (urban fantasy) by Ilona Andrews.
I read Jade City because of your recommendation in another video and I absolutely loved it!! It's so diffrent from anything I have read before and the world/fantasy system are so interesting. Lan😭 became a new favourite character of mine. Thank you for the recommendation!!!!!!

I love Patricia McKillip's Riddle Master trilogy. I can't wait for the next book in Seanan McGuire's October Daye series. And I deeply enjoyed Master of Poisons by Andrea Hairston.
"Hamnet" wasn't my favorite book. I still gave it 4 stars because it was written so so so good, but something was missing for me. Excited to read "Jade city"🤩

read the bear and the nightingale series for the first time this year and was blown away
The way you describe books is lyrical, you have convinced me to read all of these books

Jade City, Hamnet, and A River Enchanted have been on my TBR for a while… Guess I need to get to them sooner than later! 😆

My all time favorite is The Fifth Season by N.K. Jemisin. I’ve never read anything quite like it and it has really stuck with me.
The Green Bone saga was indeed quite good.

Bear and the nightingale ordered 🙂
"Hamnet" wasn't my favorite book. I still gave it 4 stars because it was written so so so good, but something was missing for me.
Excited to read "Jade city"🤩
a river enchanted isn't YA. i think it's definitely in that crossover area, but it's in the adult section of bookstores and libraries.
I love Rebecca Ross!
its kinda crazy how no one talks about borlest and ebook called The Hidden Truths Of Wealth
for real.
Rebecca Ross is the only author I know about.. wow!
First
No Robin Hobb on this video!? Who are you? Is this deepfake? 😱
Green bone saga is always the GOAT 🐐
I’m really surprised that Tolkien and CS Lewis and GOT aren’t mentioned!
These aren’t my all time all time just a selection of some of my favorite books!
Nope Made City was a flop. Too elementary
