they came out looking really nice. my primary indoor hobby is bookbinding. when i am covering the front of a notebook like you did here, i leave the paper oversized and then flip it over and trim it with a craft knife. i'm terrible at measuring and cutting to the right size, so i avoid measuring when possible. welcome to YT. you're doing a great job!
