As a member of the "Manes" and a barber, I am so glad that you corrected SLS. Somewhere someone said this was horrible, but once a week is a great reset button. So many people vilify sulfates because somewhere someone told them that this is a horrible thing to do for your hair. I would not use it every day. It will make your hair very unmanageable. But it is one of the most effective ways of de-greasing your hair and removing product and scalp buildup. So...thank you for this.
Hey Doug, I'm right up there with you in "Manes"! Very true words as usual brother. There are quite a few myths being pushed on us all at the moment in the world of hair care. At least in Mannered Manes we can demonstrate a level headed approach, and put a few of them to rest..., good to see you out here in the "real world" buddy!
@@moogoap6780 Right! I also really appreciate the humble approach Trav took in this one. Overall a really good video explanation.
@Sylvie I agree. I do use PM for many clients because it is accessible and it works. I am honestly impressed by R+Co for many reasons. If they just removed fragrance I would be all in.
We agree though.
People need to scrub thier scalps. I need a surfactant to fix my 1c hair issue. Becauee free radicles and oil and dirt move me.
I really appreciate you sharing. It is always nice to meet new people and hear new best secrets and oppinions.
Wishing you the best :)
much respect for admiting your mistakes, very rare to find someone that does it. thank you !
🙏
"whatever Trav white says is gospel for hair and we need to listen to that"
Uhm, I mean He's the Hair Jesus
Why tell?
This is exaxtly what science is - use of knowledge or assumptions until shown to be false! And that's why I love the channel!
Then?
I thought science was to always assume the null hypothesis to be true unless proven otherwise (either as "x does improve" or "x does not improve")
Well, not proving, can only reject the null hypothesis, but yeah! And then papers are peer reviewed, results are replicated or not, and we're constantly building and learning from each other! A great perspective I internalised from watching Trav was that, as people, we're always on journey, and I think it applies to most things, including science!
Upcoming exam: My hair turning gray
Exam postponed: hair turning black
Exam rescheduled: hair turning gray again

I confirm the white hair thing!
When I broke up I got one white hair
I could easily see it and annoyed by it
When I got over my girl, I can no longer see it for a year now
It is gone
Hello Trav White! I have signs of Aga and I just discovered your videos a couple months back(wish I saw this as a teen haha) but that besides this comment! I wanted to inform you on the information you provided in the end. If you look up the sens research project or Doctor "Aubrey De Grey" he and his team have figured out many reasons in why you age and how to combat it. And one of those reason is stress. Which is a hormone that over kick your metabolism into hyperdrive(when things break down it present itself to material that builds it back up therefore forming the metabolism) sometimes we don't repair properly or no longer have the material needed to do the repairing. So what good to know is the less you stress the less likely you mess up in repairing your cell tissues. As it will try and try over again. When the material is "loss" the dna that retains your blue print is altered or even damaged where that code is no longer readable to the human body and when forming "new cells" those cells never got the message when it assumes it permanent form. So your right. The less stress out we are the less likely our hair turns gray. But we can't stop it from happening. Only treat the symptoms as we continue to get older. Until even getting old is treated.
It takes a truly educated individual to admit mistakes or update previously stated opinions. Again, Trev earns my total respect and admiration as he really does “get it!” Please turn on ALL your friends to this reliable and trustworthy Chanel!
It takes a lot to admit when someone is wrong I respect you for it 👍🏻
I totally respect you for making such a video like that! Much appreciated.
Your hair is so perfect in my book what ever you say is correct.
Great video. When I saw that beard growth video I did some looking into it and found out that what you were using was dht blocking and not good for beard growth, I started to wonder what else you might have been incorrect about. But seeing this video you're just trying to put out the best information you can, and now all faith is restored in Trav White the Great!
It takes a will to correct mistakes, not many “influences” do it but for attention and views
Solid beard growth, especially when compared to the past clips you used. Are you going to do a “here’s my beard care routine” video in the near future?
Great idea!
@@TravWhiteStyle excited to see what you create with it.
@@TravWhiteStyle seconded. Would love to see how things have progressed based on how you've changed your routine
In science, the only consistent truth is half what we know is true today will be proven wrong within the next 10 years. Seeing this post is why I trust you over most anybody else. You do the work and if more information comes up later, there you are letting us know what's what.
You have my respect bro
Love it! It's so important to show when you were wrong or learn new information, this is what Science is! You've got a viewer for life, great work!
My grandma's hair went grey and then back to black, I'll have to tell her about that
Yo Trav!! Thanks for the video man! I'm curious of you thoughts on the OGX brand being sued over hair loss due to their use of DMDM hydantoin. Certainly made me worried about using those products that I started using because you were using the same ones!! Do you think we were both duped?? Or is it cool to use OGX Tea Tree brand shampoo and conditioner for fine, balanced hair?
Im so confused about the DHT blockers. This guys claims its fine ruclips.net/video/0tpEsKPZ8F8/видео.html
and this guy claims DHT blockers are not good for beard growth, however he does recommend essential oils such as lavender and rosemary??? ruclips.net/video/dl5H1l3S0as/видео.html
Can someone clarify this for me?
About me: I can only grow facial hair on my chin and mustache. Im 28, mother is Chinese and father is half Italian half jewish (hairy). My 26 year old brother grows a pretty full beard. I'm going to start a natural protocol to see if I can too. So I ordered a derma roller (~200 titanium real needles .25mm) as well as Castor Oil and rosemary oil and I already own lavender and peppermint oil. But before I make my blend I need to find out the truth about these DHT Blocking oils!
Let's go champ ❤
Luv the happy Gilmore scene u put in🤣🤣😅
Then?
Hey Trav! So.. if your beard mask with pumpkin oil was actually better suited for scalp, would you recommend it for scalp? And if so, how often would you apply it for combatting hair loss?
Yes! Daily is the best for results, but not too much as you don’t want to clog pores and make the hair you do have too greasy
Hey, Trav! So androgen paradox is difference between scalp hair and beard hair response to DHT... where does eye brow hair line up? Is it more similar to scalp hair or beard hair?
I believe its more similar to beard hair, as before puberty my eyebrows were very thin/non existant, while after puberty they are dark and thick.
This is most likely due to the surge of androgens during adolescence. But it could also just simply be testosterone and not dht which makes the eyebrows thicker.
But I have noticed that older men tend to have thinner/less eyebrow hair. So idk
for eyebrow hair it's probably more like that on your head - while they are terminal hairs and not the thin vellous and they can thicken up during puberty, they tend to not be as coarse as beard hair (and hair on the scalp isn't as thick as beard hair either...)
though I guess I'd say beard hair in terms of thickness is more like pubic hair from the underarms and groin... wonder if there's differences in how they actually are inherently then?
Right on, you got balls for admitting your mistakes publicly.
Anrew Huberman has a podcast episode where he talks about the problem with DHT blockers and it checks out with what you said here
All that oil will make my skin look like I'm 14 again, absolute destroyed by acne
Hair Goals: Trav 💯
Does anyone know if Formulate is available in Aus as well?
I’d be really interested in seeing a video about how air drying is more damaging on hair. That’s what they are saying now that the longer hair stays wet the more damage it’s doing from staying swollen with water vs blow drying on low and not too close obviously.
I think he talked about it in the 3 things you are doing that are damaging your hair or something like that.
Wish I could grow good facial hair
has anyone ever said that you look like a prettier jesus? ☀🏝
I cut my hair after 18 months and now I have the length almost like yours, I feel like something is missing, I almost died when I saw the scissors lmao hahaha
But now it looks more even and healthy
I heard shampoo causes hair to gray.
Appreciate your Honesty on this Hair and Grooming Channel
2:31 for some reason your hair is looking better than what you have right now...
Could’ve just been cuz it was fresh washed Vs this video, it’s my day 4 hair
@@TravWhiteStyle have you applied anything after washing your hair?
Not on this one. This video is just day 5 (actually, not 4) with no additional product. Just brushing 2x per day.
@@TravWhiteStyle what about old video? Your hair really looks smooth and silky
Third point is true, I've seen my hair change colors in single strand.
I got one too, one long white strand.
yeah I have dual colour hairs: black and ginger
find my hair tends to be lighter at the roots, but I've also got thinning hair... can see it from tip to root, roots are really fine and the tips are quite thick, reckon it's diet and stress, most likely diet tho
Sulfate shampoos are OK if you use it minimally. Like when there's too much product use and product and dirt buildup. But what I do is I shampoo my hair just once a week. Rest of the days I just use conditioners. My hair doesn't get super greasy nor does it stink.
I literally saw one of my hair brown almost to the base and then like 3 cm of white, so the last point is definitely spot on. I've been under a lot of stress lately.
Thanks for all. Yes nothing to do with the gray scattered all over.. Anyway I have a variety of hair strands color wise.. So OK so far.. Then why not, let's face it getting older.. With lower back long mane still😊.. Moreover they say gray hairs won't fall, they stay, true? Like it yours is getting a little longer..
Trav, you’re AWESOME, bro 😀 I was worried you were gonna say I SHOULD wash my hair more, but I guess parabens are still bad 😂
Wow the hair😍💪🏽💪🏽 It reminds me of quentin coldwater in the magicians
I just saw an ad here for Hollywood hair bar with essential oils to regrow EDGES; among other areas in general. IF it works, that might help if I’ve been damaging my hair all this time 😂
My mom had a colleague in college who found out his gf was pregnant. the next day, his hair turned gray. real story
So is peppermint oil good for the scalp or harmful?
It’s fine diluted
If you're not wrong, how can you right
If you're not wrong, how do you know you're right 😂😂😂
Below statement is true
The statement on top is false 👍
👊🏻😎
The Adam Sandler clip, had my messed up 😂😂😂
9:30 This is my favorite thing about science. When a mistake is made, it corrects itself. There is no better way to get famous as a scientist than to prove everyone wrong about something.
11:00 I've been wondering about this subject for a while. Grew up on stories of people scared so bad all their hair turned white at once, and whatnot. A few years ago I watched a lecture about the degrading effects of high levels of cortisol on DNA. Cortisol is produced in the body because of what? That's right: Stress. So extended periods of high stress literally damages your DNA. I always just assumed this is what was behind stress = gray hair.
My first gray hairs started showing up before I was 20, which no longer surprises me as I've been dealing with PTSD since I was about 8. I'm surprised my hair wasn't turning gray at 13.
Holy shit I think this is the only sponsor I have ever seen that I absolutely WILL use... As soon as I make some money
I want my hair like yours
Yes! I tried using sulfate free Shea Moisture instead of the sulfate shampoo I had been using, and it actually made things worse! My issue was itchy scalp but oily hair? Weird anyway. The solution was Nizoral shampoo to get rid of the SD I didn’t know I had 🙃 and now I use Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Special Shampoo and Conditioner. It is PERFECT for my hair and contains SLS. Not had a single issue since I can go 4 days without washing my hair. Literally twice a week only and it’s fine!
Yo . men i get kicket out of the face book group. Whats up ?
A word of advice: look into fast hair growth fortified shampoo.
hey trav could you do a video of yourself attempting to style your hair in an 18th century fashion ?
been waiting for a new upload :)
I think you would like an Instagram account called "Sciencemeetscosmetics". She is a scientist that shares a lot of information, studies and experiment results on hair related things (and skin care too). I already knew that Sulfates stuff from her 🙂
Great video 👍🏻 thanks. You gave me hope for my grey hairs 😅
Great rec!!
Hey Trav, could you do some research and let us know what you find in using serums instead of off the shelf products (like lotions and moisturizers) for face/eyes/etc. for different skin types?
I get the thing with graying hair all the time, where they hair is grey at the tip and dark at the root, but only with beard hair, not head hair
Okay so I’m gonna use castor oil jojoba oil and peppermint oil for my beard growth journey, I bought rosemary last night as I read online it increased hair growth by 44% lol
Yeah but that’s scalp hair growth, it’s okay, start using the other oils, I’ll also use them and give you an update if you remind me, I’m getting the Derma roller and oils today
I have found some hairs that are my normal hair color on the bottom half and gray on the newer half of the strand
That’s an interesting tip with regards to what oils to use for beard growth with a derma roller. What is the ratio you would recommend for the oils?
I actually have this type of strand of hair that you talk about in 11:15 and I can confirm from expierience that I have been going though a rough and stressful period when I would wake up stressed go to sleep stressed for some time and I got through it recently and my hair started growing deep brown again.
Trav i just wanted to ask how to handle early early beard greying
Are tea tree and lavender oil also dht blocking? Could I use argan oil as a carrier with peppermint oil for my beard? Are there any other essential oils which could help the growth?
Argan Oil - Oleic Acid: 42-48%, Linoleic Acid: 30-38% is a DHT inhibitor. Very good for hair growth not beard ;)
Dude I bought pumpkin seed oil, lavender oil and everything else you recommended. Spent close to 80 bucks , and now I find out that its wrong ! My stuff is coming from Amazon tomorrow. Can I still use the derma roller and soft bristle toothbrush?
🤣🤣🤣
Props for making this video. Respect
Trav pls react to sarah ingle’s video
gg
Crazy my hair is at your length lets goo
Awesome beard
Sponsorships kicked in now, huh
I kinda wish in every shampoo and conditioner, they would tell u the amount of sodium laureyl sulfate or any ingredients, so it would be easier to pick which shampoo and condition has more or less ingredients in the product
That would be awesome
Your hair is looking better than usual today
Bro, after your haircut, i feel like your hair got insane volume. I'm i correct or its just an illusion? Or have you tried something new?
Way more! It’s not as heavy 😃
Bring back Jesus hair
like for the voice crack
No one admits their mistakes but you admitted it hats off to u ❣️🙌
If you’re having problems with voice cracking, I suggest breaking it in! It seems counterintuitive, but belting and screaming carefully every couple days, letting it heal accordingly, will absolutely strengthen your voice over time
The Zarathustra of hair videos
as always a great video from Trav
I love honesty.
Is shaving head helps in dandruff
Dandruff or dry scalp? Two different things
@@TravWhiteStyle not dry scalp actual dandruff but my scalp is on dry side actually can't recognise
I’d talk to a dermatologist first before deciding to shave
Love this
Good content man
I hope it’s the one where you don’t wash your hair every day oh my god it’s fucking killing me
I only condition my hair twice a week. One wash on Monday and then on Friday. Over washing your hair drys your hair, this gives me time to build up my natural hair oils during the week.
@@DiegoAranzábal Yeah I know but I still feel dirty by not doing it everyday :/ I just hope I get used to it soon because I do wanna take care of my hair
❤️
What's name of the movie that clip
Happy Gilmore
♥️♥️
What I gather is the tip 2 oil IS GOOD for scalp hair?
In LIGHT amounts. It’s probably better to use prescribed DHT blockers from the doctor. They’re more effective and less greasy
@@TravWhiteStyle much appreciated.
I think the greying hair thing is a myth. Imagine all the ppl that went to go back in the day, they would all have been white-haired or without hair at all.
Really nice video Travis! not many people make a video about things that were "wrong" in a past video.
Quite possibly one of the more valuable videos that you've made, so far. Not for the quality of the factual content that it contains, but more for the message it sends..., that it's ok to make mistakes, as long as you learn from them, and have the strength and humility to own them too, a trait that we see all too little of in this day and age, when it's far to easy to point the finger of blame elsewhere!
I think it's worth mentioning too, that one of the most popular carrier oils ---- Coconut oil --- is also a DHT blocker and therefore not beneficial for beard growth. So it's best not to use it in DIY formula's, and look out for it in shop bought products.
Another great video Trav.., Thank you! 🙏🏼
Wass up
Jesus is talking about the Gospel and admits he’s not always right or a real god?! 😵 😂 I’ve been called Jesus for my hair but even in my 40s, I can’t grow facial hair like that 😆
*I did 100 push ups, sit ups and 10k run everyday and now I'm bald... Any solutions?*
Rock it
Now train to kill a mosquito in one go
I personally have always believed genetics and stress play a role in grey hair.
I remember when I was 13 years old and I found my first grey hair. During that time, I really struggled to learn math. I was stressed out and had horrible test anxiety so it only made sense that I found grey hair early in life. My mom started getting grey hair after her father died when she was 15 years old.
Ahh ok.. I guess if your brand shampoo has never contained sulphate then you would not have mention about it. Its a unfollow reason for me. Tscüß
I’ve mentioned a few sulfate shampoos actually 👍👍
