Live in Japan. Met tons of older people who continue to work because they are afraid if they stop, their health will decline. So they want to move their bodies and use their brains. However this is overkill and really gives insight to how brutal Japanese work culture is. I really hope he gets rest. Reminds me of my husband’s mother. Close to 80 and still working. Part time, so there’s that but still. Makes me worry. Edit: should note that I’m not against the elderly working or anything if that’s what they like to do! I hope this man has a proper sleep every now and again. As much as he loves what he is doing its not worth cutting your life short because of the health reasons lack of sleep causes. I think the whole thing about him not sleeping more than 3 hours in the title is not actually right, he says he sleeps that much in the morning after he is done setting up (I think it was between 6 and 9) but surely he sleeps after work as well so I think the title is misleading. Also he doesn't open when it's raining which is quite often so he has days off.
He reminds me of my grandpa who even when he was dying built a guest house for me, my mother and my little sister so we had some place to stay when we visited, watching him work this hard made me tear up a little

My father was a very hard working man, we didn’t come from wealth, he kept us afloat. He use to sleep 4/5 hours a day. He passed away early from all the stress from high blood pressure and stroke. I remember seeing him limp to his bed when I was getting ready for school. I hope this chef gets some rest and spends time with family. I know it’s not easy to but the alternative is passing away too early.
this man very much reminds me of my grandpa. the way they operate and how he works with these little things, the folding benches and makeshift tables, the way he sets everything up so meticulously, his craftiness and presence in general. it feels very similar to what i feel when i observe my grandpa being himself. though i am relieved that i don't think my grandpa pushes himself to overwork in the same fashion. but both this man and my grandpa are hard workers, so i hope they both get adequate rest and stay in good health
My grandpa is the same. He is 84 and he is a farmer since a child from turkey. He built his own house when he married my grandma (may she Rest In Peace). He gets up early at 5:00 am and starts his always with praying and eating healthy natural food with tea or water. And then he works all day on his farm until he sleeps around 21:00 22:00. very impressive how hard working that generation is right ? He’s also in a good shape and he’s sharp minded! Respect to your grandpa bro!

The atmosphere and the mood reminds me of my relatives that live a life with hardship. They don't have a lot of money and but I really like staying with them whenever I go on a vacation. It's so peaceful and for some reason I don't dislike it. I am genuinely happy to be around them because they always have a smile on their face even if their life is not so grand. I almost cried while watching this video....

I don't think people realize he's only charging $3 a bowl. Considering how hard this man works that is amazing to me that he has the ability to survive and work this late in life. Much appreciation to people in his situation that work hard.
At 180-ish servings per night, that's still $540 USD per night. Of course you have to factor in the cost of supplies, but that's highly respectable.

I hope this man has a proper sleep every now and again. As much as he loves what he is doing its not worth cutting your life short because of the health reasons lack of sleep causes. The body needs sleep to recover. I would feel wrong eating from this cart if I knew how much dedication he has. If he had a day or two off for rest he could keep doing this that much longer.

I think the whole thing about him not sleeping more than 3 hours in the title is not actually right, he says he sleeps that much in the morning after he is done setting up (I think it was between 6 and 9) but surely he sleeps after work as well so I think the title is misleading. Also he doesn't open when it's raining which is quite often so he has days off.

He reminds me of my grandpa who even when he was dying built a guest house for me, my mother and my little sister so we had some place to stay when we visited, watching him work this hard made me tear up a little

My father was a very hard working man, we didn’t come from wealth, he kept us afloat. He use to sleep 4/5 hours a day. He passed away early from all the stress from high blood pressure and stroke. I remember seeing him limp to his bed when I was getting ready for school. I hope this chef gets some rest and spends time with family. I know it’s not easy to but the alternative is passing away too early.

this man very much reminds me of my grandpa. the way they operate and how he works with these little things, the folding benches and makeshift tables, the way he sets everything up so meticulously, his craftiness and presence in general. it feels very similar to what i feel when i observe my grandpa being himself. though i am relieved that i don't think my grandpa pushes himself to overwork in the same fashion. but both this man and my grandpa are hard workers, so i hope they both get adequate rest and stay in good health
My grandpa is the same. He is 84 and he is a farmer since a child from turkey. He built his own house when he married my grandma (may she Rest In Peace). He gets up early at 5:00 am and starts his always with praying and eating healthy natural food with tea or water. And then he works all day on his farm until he sleeps around 21:00 22:00. very impressive how hard working that generation is right ? He’s also in a good shape and he’s sharp minded! Respect to your grandpa bro!

If you know about the lifestyle over there...its basically work your ass off until you die. Their culture has always been like that since birth. I have the most utterly respect for this hardworking man. It was like seeing my father.
The atmosphere and the mood reminds me of my relatives that live a life with hardship. They don't have a lot of money and but I really like staying with them whenever I go on a vacation. It's so peaceful and for some reason I don't dislike it. I am genuinely happy to be around them because they always have a smile on their face even if their life is not so grand.

Hopefully he’s doing well. His health doesn’t seem to be the best he could be at but his dedication to serve his customers, hope those customers are aware and appreciative of his sacrifices
