It's embarrassing that we continue to pour money into sports that have enough financial support and yet ignore a glaring omission to the athletic landscape of this incredible institution. With the immense pool of talent in Texas (two of the past three Olympic All-Around champions are from Texas, the current world champion, and many others) Division 1 gymnastics should be at the top of Texas Tech's priorities, and yet it continues to be shunned. Many athletes are forced to look outside of our great state for opportunities... If Texas Tech were to take the initiative... We could be one of the top programs in less than five years. It's disappointing that the powers that may be don't see this.
They have "enough money" so why should they get more? Because those "sports that have enough financial support" are the ones that actually make money. Like it or not but universities are a business, and businesses do not invest resources towards items that do not have a high return. You can't run a business with happy feelings and emotions.
