I totally agree! Kerstin with her Arthritis actually enjoyed warm ( bodytemp or a little below that) baths. She needed the cleaning too in her last weeks/ months
Total support of the message here. I have a piggy with mobility issues due to paralysis issues and she cannot groom herself. Also have one piggy that needs extra cleaning due to a particularly persistent ear infection that messes with her balance (and therefor ability to maintain her fur). I love bonding with them in de sink😊
I remember the days when piggies were considered “self-cleaning” and didn’t need baths. I’m glad things have changed. My girls get 2-3 baths a year. 🛁🐾
I gave my girls a bath for the first time in 3 years. In the summer they hang out in the garden, walking on dirt, mud and grass. So when I washed them so much dirty water came off! I wasn’t surprised, I think I’ll do it more often now I’ve seen how dirty they got.
Of course, having a good bath once in a while makes sense, and I'm sure that they feel better for it. Extra help for those older or not so mobile piggies will make sure that they don't have urine or poop on them, I use a damp cloth for my older bun. Thanks, as always, to your insightful videos. I share your channel with so many people who have piggies ❤😊.
Thank you Scotty, I feel like there will always be die hard people who you can't change their minds no matter all the right reasons to give a bath. I have had to give Harriet and Clementine treatment baths ,but I also need to upkeep with their skin as they are skinnies. Since they are werewolf, and different hair patterns, Harriet needs more patience on her skin with grapefruit seed oil extract. Clementine since her last treatment, her skin has been excellent, but you check ,just like you do when you do health checks. You wouldn't go out with smelly skin, why would you let your guinea pig you love live in smelly skin?
I can only speak for Europe but I think the advise not to bathe your guinea pig comes from a time when guinea pigs were kept outside. And not every family had a blow dryer. And in Europe its much colder than in California. So when you put your pig outside and its not dry than they would get cold. When Iwas a child we were told not to bathe the pigs because they would get pneumonia. These days pigs are kept inside and the temperature inside the house is much higher than it was in the old days. So now its ok to bathe your pig when you make sure they are warm and dry after the bath.
Omg, yes they do need baths! Some more than others of course! My teddy gets so much gunk in her fur. I like to try to give her a bath every 3 months or so. I like to run the heat when she’s wet in the bathroom and blow dry her off (on the low setting). The other piggies maybe once a year unless it’s a “special occasion”, lol. 😆
I believe in baths. My Pip needed baths especially during the last week. He was 8 plus years old so his back legs were wore out. He soiled himself some so had to be washed frequently. I had to euthanize him 12/03/24. My heart is in pieces now.💔
I need to give my recently rescued skinny pig a fungal bath. The information in most of the guides provided are for guinea pigs with hair. Is the bathing process the same for skinny pigs as for guinea pigs with hair? Or is there another process?
My one piggie, Frosty, does not care one bit if she poops and pees while she is resting and could care less. So in order for us to snuggle, every so often she has to have a bath.
@@reallyfedup5070 was the kaboom emoji a good kaboom or a bad kaboom? She only has a bath about every 4 to 6 months. Sometimes I just wash her off with a wash cloth. 🤷🏼
Another important video Scotty❤😍 great work as always 💖

At least in Germany a majority of people still say to never bathe a pig because bla bla bla.

I’m in the hot tub with my Guinea pig right now. He’s floating around on a pool noodle.
Serious or joking?
You are so silly
@ I was kidding 😊. Please don’t put your Guinea pig in your hot tub
If you ask Guinea pigs .. no, but for their help we know sometimes a bath is needed for treatments.
❤

Sorry to hear that. Hope rest in peace piggy 🙏

lol 😅
Do you think Guinea pigs should get regular Ivermectin even if they don't have a fungal infections?

Do you cover yourself with a towel before you snuggle her, does she smell of pee?
@neelymurphy6797 Oh yes, I cover myself or I will smell like pee. She only smells like pee when I have to bathe her. So not often. 🤗
