Amen to that 🥰❤️🖤💚 when Norman Lear made the horrible mistake of cutting him out of the picture he made good times turn bad😭ps I met James Evans aka John Amos on his book tour and he's doing fine 🥰❤️🖤💚
A lot of viewers thought this was unrealistic because she was living in a poor neighborhood. But she worked in a clothing store and was able to purchase outfits at discounted prices. At the time, she was living alone and did not have to support anyone else.
James always crack me up when jj trys to correct what his dad just said earlier when james lie and give jj that look like man if you dont sit yo azz down look boy.james the funniest in this sitcom.
@Angel Johnson Mike Evans was one of the creators of that show and Norman Lear wanted a single mother in the projects but Mike said no we want a father in this show!
@Angel Johnson Mike Evans was Lionel Jefferson on the Jeffersons, you can see his name in the credits this is why he left the show to give all his time to his baby, Good Times but Norman was not giving him more screen time so he left and went back to the Jeffersons!
Norman Lear wanted a total takeover of the show and threw out Mike Evans and Eric Monte, the creaters if the show. He really did not do right by his black sitcoms. The Jeffersons ended without a finale, he killed off James Evans but asked Jean Stapleton for permission to let Edith Bunker die on All In The Family. Redd Foxx was off Sanford and Son for nearly half of a season for a contract dispute.
The scene with both Willona and Florida was so on point when Willona had said, "Flo, where is it written that a woman's got to be married or she's a nobody!" That line was so beyond truthful and on point to this very day.
They didn’t mind the show creating laughs but when it started going from laughter to Straight embarrassment, that’s when it was a bit too much same thing with the character of Steve Urkel from family matters
It's a hairpiece at the front. His real hairline (at the time) was further back. To get an idea, it was like Cleo McDowell's hairline on Coming to America or when he was on the "Lena Horne" episode of Sanford & Son.
James: (Florida) moved everyone in the reception until she got Duane and Willona together. Florida: James, you know you're exaggerating. I only asked one couple to move. James: OK, baby, but the bride and the groom? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hilarious how they live in the projects that's supposed to be violently dangerous on this show but yet they leave the front door unlocked. And Willona walking in without knocking seems very rude. Just never noticed before until now.
Yeah, that's kind of the case in all sitcoms. It takes too long for a knock on the door, crossing the room to unlock and letting the person in. It throws off all the timing (which is crucial in comedy), hence why no one ever locks their doors and neighbors can just barge in.
That guy was on The Jeffersons as Florence fiancee that was overly religious & tried to change her. Funny, Janet Dubois wrote & sang the theme song to the show.
I remember that episode. so humorous. At the end, Wilona tells her friend "Flo" that she is happily single, and will still date the handsome man. So, Florida admits to James he was right. The ending is cute. You have to watch it. I liked how there was balance between James and Florida. Classic show--despite JJ clown performances. Never liked his character, even as a child when he was popular.

Absolutely so true I grew up in the seventies this is still my favorite show to watch ♥️🙏🏿

Is there a remake in the making?
I loved Esther Rolle and John Amos as the parents they were great actors to make them wonderful caring parents for their children.
Willona Always Dressed So Cute....RIH Pretty Lady Ja'net DuBois...😘😘
The way I can still feel James Evans as much more than a fiction. Is kind of like I experience the true person
This is one of the shows I miss a lot this was a great show I used to watch it all the time I love the way waylona dressed
Wiloma was always fashionable on the show
A lot of viewers thought this was unrealistic because she was living in a poor neighborhood. But she worked in a clothing store and was able to purchase outfits at discounted prices. At the time, she was living alone and did not have to support anyone else.
I love that head shifting James Evans does when he's right.
That's what True Best friends do for each other ! Matchmaker 💕💞

Exactly, it's that 'you better shut up or I'll knock the black off you' look.
Why am I here? Oh, for quality television.

Wilona looked so regal in this scene! Yes 👑
So did bernadette stanis

Willona Looked Really Good Her Scarf wrap was So Pretty !
Can I get a show of hands of everyone who'd like to meet John Amos in person. ✋
Yep, me 2
The father made this show, not J. J. , when they made J. J. The center of attention, the ratings started dropping!
@Angel Johnson Mike Evans was one of the creators of that show and Norman Lear wanted a single mother in the projects but Mike said no we want a father in this show!

Wow. Thanks, did not know it was the same Mike Evans on the Jefferson's. He was a much better Lionel than the second one. Sorry #2
Mike Evans(the actor) never appeared on Good Times. Lol.
Bernadette stanis is fine as wine 🍷 it should be a crime to be that beautiful and fine!!!
Entertaining and funny even years latter.
Thelma ! So fresh so fine .

3rd wave feminism
John Amos was the heart n soul of this show.
But dad you said...🤨....that’s what you said you did day that 😂
James didn't play with those kids
He sure didn't!!!
😃😃😃😃😃
James best father on television kept his kids in check
Good Times is real life.
Cats from Cabrini, will tell you, otherwise.
But dad you said............ That's what you said you did say that 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
😃😃😃😃
Those old percolators😂
Wilona is wearing that scarf 💖
Truth be told, James cutting his eyes at JJ was for real. James nor Florida didn't care for his buffoonery.
They didn’t mind the show creating laughs but when it started going from laughter to Straight embarrassment, that’s when it was a bit too much same thing with the character of Steve Urkel from family matters
Stay safe y'all and warm 🏕️🏠
Great show yall
James' hairline always cracked me up!
It's a hairpiece at the front. His real hairline (at the time) was further back. To get an idea, it was like Cleo McDowell's hairline on Coming to America or when he was on the "Lena Horne" episode of Sanford & Son.
@Angel Johnson yes.
@Angel Johnson any hair that is properly taken care of will grow. Doesn't matter what race.
@Angel Johnson excuse me?
@Angel Johnson where did you get the notion that black women's hair can't be long?
Happy 50th anniversary Good Times.
When James lost his temper which was almost every episode it was a miracle the kids Willona and,Bookman didnt have welts and bruises.
Great show stay safe yall.
James tells Florida stop playing matchmaker for Willona twice first with Duane and with Walter the deaf guy during the third season
Don't forget Florida was trying to get Willona and her ex-husband back together too
To paraphrase James, Wilona scored like Mercury Morris used to!
Willona and her boyfriend just walk in like that? And The Evans leave the front door unlocked in that neighborhood?
I was saying the same thing lol
😂😂. That's why its TV!
Thats what i said, they could of been doing the hanky panky lol
Back in the 70s everyone left their doors unlocked
@@joshuamcdowell9745 Not in the projects...
Prayers for John Amos🙏🏽
James Evans has a willows peak
it's called a widow's
Looooool
When James died, Florida became a willow.
James: (Florida) moved everyone in the reception until she got Duane and Willona together.
Florida: James, you know you're exaggerating. I only asked one couple to move.
James: OK, baby, but the bride and the groom?
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Those space teeth smile. Beautiful
Thank u
Remember the laugh? 😂😂😂
To say that they live where they live, their door is always unlocked 🤷🏾♂️
Esther Rolle (Florida) was almost old enough to be John Amos's (James) mother!!
Man I'm i used be in love with Thelma when I was a kid. Lol
