OHHH!!! Soooo envious!!! James Gurney is AMAZING!!! Please do a flip through!! Thanks Lindsay!
Will do!!
Yes please, a flip through! I have (and love) his other books, He’s a fantastic artist.
You are not alone in this scary world! Love ❤️ from Texas
I am scared!! 😢 This is awful! You are a bright spot in all the crazy!!!❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you for that, that means a lot!
Thank you for supporting your local library!!! Folks are hungry for connection and the library is where it’s at!
Great Sat Chat. You are a bright spot in the crazy stuff happening currently.
Thanks, I appreciate that!
When I turn off the news, I remember that birdsong and color are real, too. ❤ I hope you know what a huge difference it makes that you share your vision with us on Saturday mornings ❤
That is so sweet, thank you!
Yes, please! I would love to see a flip through of James Gurney's book!
The new camera settings are great, it makes the colours more vibrant. 😊
I like Lyra Rembrant polycolour pencils. I've had a few in my art subscription box and although they're not colours I'd use often, I was impressed with the performance. 😊
Enjoy Sat-Chat.
Thank you for the respite from crazy today! 😀
Having an excessive amount of beautiful high quality art supplies makes my artistic heart jump for joy! Also wondrous for creativity and inspiration.
It’s so much fun to have a collection to pull from!
A cup of coffee and Sat Chat with my favorite "artsupplyasaurus" 😂, my perfect Saturday morning!
I love that nickname! 😊
It is a strange and shocking world these days, and thank goodness we have the refuge of art. Thank you for a lovely Sat Chat, and I hear you on the February art supplies. I've just bought the Lyra crayons! 🤣
Enjoy!
Love watching James Gurney! Such a relaxing experience!
I know! It's so inspiring.
Recently got Jamas Gurney's Color and Light For the Realist Painter book! Even though its focus is mostly oils, all of his info about watercolor is also really useful! In fact, I already had the book open to pages 218 and 219 (pigments) ON MY LAP before I saw your Sat chat today! As a retired geologist I am really "drawn to" dinosaurs and Pleistocene mammals (pun intended)! I'm already planning to pre-release order his re-issued Sketching book! His cross-country adventures with Thomas Kinkade are fascinating! Please say Hi! to your dear friend, Mr. Gurney, for me!
P.S. I have a new love/hate/"hide the packages before hubby sees them" relationship with Temu. Phoenix, Marie's Masters grade, Meeden (and Baohong) professional grade paper, porcelain palettes, Posca dupes, many nice "Don't blame me, I didn't vote for him" tee shirts... all the things sitting in your "saved for later" cart on Amazon, especially the budget things and dupes, names on familiar packaging from Chinese factories...plus Freebies, coupons, games to win points, refunds, and bonus credit for buying, referring friends, etc. Packages with free things from your Temu cart will start showing up on your porch... To all my fellow Art (supplies) Collectors: Proceed with extreme caution and read the listings carefully! But, you can realistically justify it all by ordering before the tarrifs kick in. And, be aware that things shipped from local warehouses incur shipping costs, while most things sent directly from China are shipped for free (for the moment, anyway).
Love the spring tutorial, can’t wait to watch it. I LOVE LOVE the drawing by Mr James Gurney and would love a flip through.
Your hair is getting sooo long, it looks great. Hi to Jason, he will have to think of something else now😜, he can do it!!!
Hi Lindsey. This is my first Sat chat. I will certainly be back for more. You are absolutely delightful. I was kind of irritated this morning for no reason at all and now I am smiling. Thanks so much. Have a great weekend.
So glad to hear that!
Great SatChat Lindsay! Yep life now sucks politically but I loved your Gel Print party and other vids. Thank you and wishing Mom a happy birthday!🎉 🎁
Thanks so much! I am glad you liked it!
Yes, on the Gurney flip through! Your earrings are cute. The library painting is very pretty. I like that you're showing them how to use different products if they aren't quite satisfied with what they've done. It's been deceptively sunny at times here. Sun has not equalled warmth at all! But it's only February, too. It's a crazy world out there. Thank goodness for creative outlets! Have a wonderful week. Happy birthday to your mom, too! Thanks for another great Sat Chat.
I will definitely do a flip through of the Gurney book. It's such a great book.
Amen to self soothing with Art supplies & Binge watching Art videos! 😂😂😂Cheers!
Yup!
Good morning and happy Saturday Chat ❤. This is where I leave the world behind for a little while each week and it feels like therapy. Thank you Lindsay
That is so sweet, thank you!
@ ❤️
Would love a flip through of the book! Love your Dino. ❤️
The new lighting is very flattering! ⭐️
I'm really excited that I will be teaching an 8 week beginners watercolor course at our library this spring! Credit to you because you were my teacher! ❤
That's fantastic!
Yes the new camera setting is wonderful!!!! YOu look more natural, and the things behind you are easier to see as well. Thank you!! Good job!
Thanks, I think it looks better too! 😊
I would LOVE a flip through of James Gurney’s book! I am so jealous of your autographed copy! How cool is that!
I know, right?
I’m sure JG appreciates you saying he’s gorgeous 😄. Another fun and entertaining SatChat 🙂
I’d love a book flip through!
Thank you posting. It helps the people more then you know. We need a break. 😮
Yes! We all need a crafty playdate!
Thank you for your weekly Sat chats its a great escape from reality and the outside world. Thank God for Art. Its definitly my therapy, yes the world has gone crazy. As a Canadian who loves our American neighbours (The people, not the politics) its both scary and frighteningly entertaining for that brief moment where I think oh this cant be real. But offcourse it is. All of this global unrest is frigtebning
It sure it! Why can't we all just cooperate and be decent to each other, like we were raised to be?
It’s always so much fun to see your new supplies and your excitement! LOVE that stone wall you painted and that spring scene you painted for your class. I’m very happy you have had such a creative week 🙂 Hang on, spring is surely just around the corner and you’ll be able to say Goodbye Maine Winter hahaha
I am so excited for spring to arrive!
I love watching you fangirling! I do the same hahah so adorbs. And heck yes be proud of being an art supply tyranasouras! Woo! I wanna be one too hahaha
27:09 You could tell people closest to you, “It was a really rough day - I was overcome by ASOB. I really just don’t want to talk about it.” They’ll feel terrible that you were gripped by “a sob”/sadness, when really it’s an acronym for Art Supply Over Buying. 😂 Then you can add to the Room of Hoard in peace without having to explain yourself. You’re so much fun, and I love your Sat Chat videos. Hope your weekend is good!
Haha! Love it!
The paintings on your desk are beautiful! I always enjoy seeing your work, and Sat Chat! Enjoy your visit with your parents! 🤗
Thanks, I am enjoying seeing them too!
I stopped in the middle of Sat chat to follow the link to buy the crayons. I learned when I missed the Phoenix paints. I am thrilled to hear they are restocking at the introductory price.I hope I don’t miss it this time. I share your self soothing methods lol. I think this lighting is very flattering.
me too!
I did the same w/ the crayons 🤭😅 I missed the Phoenix set, too! I was really happy to hear that they'll be restocking and at that intro price - woo hoo!
Thanks! They emailed me after I recorded this to say that they will be back around the end of April, beginning of May. They also asked how balanced I thought the palette was and if I would recommend any changes so they muse have to make more sets. I can think of 2 colors i might switch out. I love that they want to know how to improve!
Oooh so those of us who missed out will get a shot at the FrugalCrafter curated set lol
@@rahimirahimi8560Yes! 🤩
Love James Gurney- yes to a flip through. And those Phoenix watercolors are great. They are not all exactly the same as WN, but definitely close enough.
They're definitely a great value!
I just check on the phoenix watercolors an hour ago. I'm happy to hear that they will be getting more in and keeping the original price. Thank you Lindsay. ❤
I am glad they are restocking!
Enjoyed Sat Chat today. I love James Gurney. Will be going to his site to order a copy of his book. Art and a bit of world info. on the side - great job today😊.
I am so glad you liked it!
Sat Chat and new art supplies are my self-soothing go to all year 💗! It's been a "self-soothing in overdrive" kind of year already, so I promptly ordered the two sets of water-soluble crayons and pre-ordered James Gurney's book 😅. I also randomly came across a set of Niji gouache online the other day while looking for open stock Art Whale gouache cups (to add to my set of 9 - thanks for that recommendation, too! 😀). Couldn't find any open stock 🐀- but ended up ordering the Niji set 😆. I had no idea they made them! Also signed up for a how to knit an emotional support chicken class at my local yarn shop, hehe. They're so adorable! 🥰
It sounds like you've had a very productive and soothing start to the year! I've never heard of niji gouache, please let us know how you like it!
@@thefrugalcrafterWill do! 😀
Deco Art has wonderful customer service! A great company.
YES! Would love a flip thru of the book!
👍
Happy Saturday to everyone!
You too!
This time of year is the time I look for art supplies also ……. Something bright to look forward to during the loooong, dark winter …..😊
It is the best time of year for that!
Hey Lindsay, thank you for the discount on the crayon course - as soon as you said that I jumped off the video, bought it the course and came back to watch the rest of Sat Chat! I think it’ll be just what I need for stress relief and to figure out how to best use my carandache neo color 2’s. The spring class for your library looks like it’ll be fantastic- lovely spring painting!
That is awesome! I’m so glad you signed up!
Happy sat chat! Always good stuff with you Lindsay! Can’t wait to,try the plaid… looks fun! I’m still trying to use what I have but oh I get tempted to try new stuff! Can’t wait to get the Jim Gurney book! And watercolor crayon class… yes please! Hope you have a great visit with your parents!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend too!
Happy Crafting! I hope your Mum has a wonderful birthday!🎉
Thank you! She did!
I’m only five minutes in and yes, I would love a flip-through please! Also, yes, so jealous 😂
Will do!
I LOVE the stone wall!! I’ve been sitting here wondering how I can do it in watercolor or Gansi tambi…I’m going to keep my eye out for the tutorial! Enjoyed Sat Chat this week! Thank you!
You'll love it, it's a fun one!
Aw, Lindsay!!! Congrats on the cool, signed book ❤ you rule and the comment your hubs made, made me laugh soo hard. He sounds really cool and supportive.
He's the best, he is very thoughtful and remember things I say I'd like. Honestly it hard to keep up with him but it's a fun competition!
It's time for TFC, Sat Chat, coffee and some peace.
Yes!
I dont know about the world right now. It is scary! I live in the midwest and everyone has been sick with these upper respiratory viruses. I am just getting over influenza A and Covid has nothing on this. I was so sick! How has it been in your area? Buying art and craft supplies is therapeutic. I dont have a you tube channel and I have a overflowing craft room. I figure if it make you happy go for it! Lindsay you make me happy continue being your wonderful self!❤
Love the new camera. You are right your prior videos were a little bright but this set up is awesome!
I am glad you like the new camera setup! It's actually the same camera but I took it out if "auto" 😆 🤣 😂
Love to listen to Sat Chat as I walk my dog. 🐶
Nice!
Ohhh, I love your curls, Lindsay!! 🤩 And the reddish highlights in your hair - it's totally you!! Ok, back to Sat Chat 😀
Thanks! New camera setting is a success I guess 😆 🤣 😂
@thefrugalcrafter Haaa! It's you! 💗
Would love a flip thru of James's book! Also, what a coincidence that you mentioned Joann's! I stopped in my local store for the first time since Covid and I almost cried. The shelves were empty and the store was filthy (literally) and in such disaray. It used to be so lovely. 😢
It's so sad.
Love the frantic stamper. No wonder they have not had any new of their own stuff in awhile
I think we will be seeing this a lot, it's getting harder for stamp companies and fewer people are joining the hobby.
Happy Sat Chat day! I would love to see a flip through of the book! I do the same thing with my Jetpens cart, when I get stressed I put things in my e-cart. ❤
And there's no harm (until we checkout)
Good morning Lindsay and friends! Flip through please 🤩
You got it!
@@thefrugalcrafter yess! thank you Lindsay, you are da best!
PS I love the spring painting with the bicycle.
Thanks!
YES, please do a flip through!!😊
Ok!
With the current state of affairs, I'm trying really hard not to purchase additional art related supplies (I'm waiting to see if Social Security shows up this month), but I had to cave and get the James Gurney book- thank you for providing a bright spot in an otherwise stressful week!
Sending hugs ❤️ 💙 💜
It's probably ADHD. That dopamine hit and self soothing. I am AuDHD (aspergers/ADHD), and understand the feelings you describe very well. We aren't crazy, just neurodivergent and spicy.😊
For your wc paper, you can buy desiccant in bulk , make little sachets and put them in the storage container of your paper. I always keep those little desiccant bags that come with merchandise. I put them in my drawers with paper and sketchbooks. Dessicant is reusable- depending on the type, you might just have to put it in the oven to remove the absorbed humidity.
Great chat today. The new lighting really works for you. Count me in on the flip through! ✨✨
I am glad you liked the new lighting! 😊
Thanks for the tip about the decoart sale. I stocked up on wax effects and impasto mediums. 😊
Enjoy them! I was tempted by the impasto but I have impasto mediums and acrylics to use up first. What a great sale!
Very cool note from James Gurney! ❤❤❤
Yes!
Good morning, I would love to watch a flip through of Gurney’s book! 📕
Will do!
Flip thru!
Yes, please do a flip through
Will do!
I knew that the tariffs were going to kick in and so I did a lot of ordering before the holidays. I wonder how this is going to hit the bottom line for small businesses. I hope that they will be able to stay afloat until these tariffs get worked out. My husband said that he had never seen me order so much product in one shot. But think about it….not just dies and stamps are made in China. Our everyday stuff that we use around the house are made there. But, I purchased a ton of dies that I had wanted for a very long time. Tariffs aside, I am glad that I did it.
Thanks!
Thank you for your support! That is very kind if you:)
They put my dad in the hospital yesterday so I needed Sat chat this morning.
I hope your dad will be ok. Sending healing thoughts his way. 💗
I'm so sorry, Mary. Sending hugs.
Yay! Sat chat! I got that Pheonix 24 set. Playing with them I found: they don't react with salt well. At least not how I'm used to but I did use rough paper. It made large splits and darker lines. Not that frosty effect.
I mixed a couple colors like UM blue and burnt umber into wet on wet. When dried the colors split. Interesting blue gray in center and brown gray to brown on edges. So if you like interesting splits of color this is good. I like a bit of unpredictability since I'm a very calm introvert from masking my whole life. It's exciting 🎉 Thanks Lindsay.
I love hearing about your experiments!
Your hair looks lovely thanks fir sat chat im doing much more art this year and happy weekend
Thanks! I put big foam rollers in it and let it air dry yesterday. Saves a lot of heat damage and time!
@@thefrugalcrafter you look so lovely I just had my hair done and I use those Velcro rollers yea your idea is great I’ll give that a try
I like this lighting.
Thanks!
I hear you about buying art supplies in February. Sizzix Bigshot was on sale on Amazon for $99 for a starter kit. I caved. And bought some steampunk dies, LOL.
Oh, that’s a great deal!
OK, I need to make those earings ❤❤ 😂😊. Thank you for the fun videos this week 🎉😊
They're really fun to make!
Thanks Lindsay, have a great week!
Thanks so much! You too!
Self soothing is fine lol. I'm also an enabler!
😆 🤣 😂
He drew in your book! That's incredible! Your hubby's reaction cracked me up! I bought a signed copy of Aaron Blaise's book and it made me super happy to know he put hands on my book. I love his artwork. Fan girling (is that a word?)for sure. Would love a flip through of James Gurneys book!❤❤❤😊
Hehe, I'm still cracking up at "Gurney!!" à la Newman 😄
Oh wow!
😆 🤣 😂
Happy belated Birthday to your mum. My bday was on Tuesday. It is a scary time and I might not have a job by the end of the year. It’s nothing I can control so I try not to dwell. Anyway hope you have a great weekend!! Go have fun!
Thanks! Her birthday is actually tomorrow, but we are getting a snowstorm, and she lives an hour away, so i went early. I hope you have a great weekend, too!
Good morning and happy Sat chat. I loved the gelli printing video so any ideas. It is so sad to hear of any business leaving that has been around for a while. I do understand the want to retire though, as I semi retired in April 2024, I work 15 hours a week. Which when I am arting seems like to much😂😂. As always loved the morning chat, have a great Saturday 💕💕
It’s so fun to be able to do what we love!
Thanks Lindsay 💕
You are so welcome!
Morning Lindsay, having my coffee early on a Saturday morning in cold cold Manitoba. Love Sat Chat...watch it every Saturday. I feel your pain with the "art supply buying". I am very much the same. I do teach at the local library - mostly to kids - so I always justify the buying that way...LOL I do have a question: the painting you are teaching at the library - do you consider that "beginner"....I only ask because when I have taught adults I find I really need paintings that are much simpler....just a question....thanks Your biggest fan in Manitoba
Yes, but I am providing a pattern to trace, and I will paint it step by step with them, and it's only a group of 10, so not too big a crowd. If we were drawing it I would call it intermediate.
Ah I'm self soothing with Sat Chat :)
@@marie-claireallington851 Me, too 😊 💗
Hugs ❤️
I love Davinci for editing as it is free and has everything you could want. I think I went a little bit fan girl for you. That is amazing. I have his book imaginative realism, and I have his book color and light on my wishlist. I guess I will need to add this book to the list as well. I have the art supply collection problem.
Color and light is great too!
11:48 Welp, too late for that because I already ordered them just based on what you just said about them. 😅
And the book. 😂😅
I think you will like them and you have got a good price too!
Oh Lindsey, I’m sorry about your cold temps! Here in Texas the high today will be 83! By the way, I just placed a big order of A. Gallo paints, but now I’m tempted with those iCrayons!
It is always tempting to buy more art supplies! I hear good things about A Gallo, I hope you enjoy them!
@@thefrugalcrafter That it is! I initially bought the little split primary set “Essentials” to practice with them, get used to mixing colors and play with them. Man, they are worth every penny, and they are on sale right now on Jackson’s. They smell SO good too, rewet like a dream. So I’ve purchased 4 of their 10 ml tubes and will now have a total of 24 colors. Thats a good start on some high end, hand mulled and poured paints. Hubby encouraged me to get them so who am I to deny him the joy of supporting my hobby?! 🥰👩🏼🎨🎨🖌️💸
Flip through please of the sketch book by Gurney. In my highschool year book a fellow student who was very artistic drew something in my book and I was thrilled. I cherish it as unfortunately he died young. OH, I can relate to no control on art supplies, as I am a card maker and when I see new supplies for that I have to try and have self control. Sometimes it works but most of the time, not. LOL
And there are so many cute card supplies being released all the time!
@ So true.
Any insight to this -- have heard that the only US company manufacturing metal dies is/has closed.
I was weak, I bought myself a mystery 3 pack of the UglyBooks sketchbooks cause they gave me a sticker set free. (we're ignoring I only got that offer cause I kept going back and looking)
And yeah, everything is so scary right now. You and your channel are a light in this dark world, but please don't take that to mean you shouldn't also share your feelings of fear if it helps you deal with them.
It is a dark world and sometimes it feels good to talk about it.
I’d love to see a flip through! Work it💕
I think that is a great idea!
hello happy Saturday.I love your channel
Thank you so much!
❤
Lindsay, are you familiar with the UK show "Landscape Artist of the Year"? It's one of my 'chill zen' shows I watch. I have no wish to do landscape art and I know nothing about it. But I enjoy peeking over the shoulder of the artists. It's available on RUclips in what is likely a bootleg version and this current season will feature (on 26th February), RUclips artist Molly Lemon (great woodcut artist).
As to new software. I had a website that was well known in its niche. But there came a time that I was having to learn new software for like the third time to keep up with new computers and new tech, etc. I was just really tired of spending time learning software that, you're right, is a time suck away from the actual content. I decided to retire the website and let someone else step up in the niche going forward.
Lindsey, this is a question as well as an idea, but I know that Becky, the Australian artist uses one of those metal tray chest they can be quite large and you pull out the metal drawers and they can take big sheets of Watercolor. They’re normally used to store tools in the shed or they could be used for maps I think too, is that something you could use? Also, having them in metal is that better or worse than having it in would I wonder if either makes a difference. Although it would be able to breathe in either, would is a more breathable material, but I suppose it holds moisture as well, but then metal would just have condensation.
Loved your Sat. Chat, it got my day going 😊 How long is your crayon workshop on sale for? I looked all over & couldn’t find when these ended…thanks ❤
Not sure yet, the videos I recorded promoting it will go up over the next few weeks. It will run at least a month (or I might leave it as an Easter egg for viewers that find those videos in the future 😉) you got time, no rush:)
@@thefrugalcrafter sounds great 🙂 I thought I missed the trailer and it had been out a while…That’s why I was asking, but I’m thinking to myself “I haven’t seen this yet” 😂
Yes, please flip through the sketch book.
Will do!
Also, love the new camera setting, you look amazing!
Great news about the Phoenix set, I’ll keep an eye on their site but I hope they don’t come back until March because I’m on a no-buy this month.
Looks like end of April so you are good:)
@@thefrugalcrafter Perfect, thanks Lindsay!
Medical care has also been harmed by private equity.
Yes! And pet veterinarian care too!
Lindsay Joggles posted a video showing Elizabeth St Hillaire using Wax Effects. Looks like a good product!
I love her art! I'll look or it! Hopefully the paint comes today!
Can you put a link to your video that you reviewed the watercolor canvases?
I didn't review it but here is where I used it: ruclips.net/video/I8iyblRa1j0/видео.htmlsi=OIVtSCsv7HJdATx4
I don't NEED another art book. But want? That's a whole different monster. I just went through some of my stuff and was thinking I need to use what I have rather than get more. Like, as I'm going through my acrylic I'm realizing I have more Golden Open than I thought. Nevermind that I just ordered more on Thursday...😑 The struggle is real.
In your next blick order, could you pick up an Albrecht Durer and a Albrecht Durer Magnus? I heard they are a different formula. I would love to grab a few colors in the magnus line but if theyre different it may not be worth it. Would love to hear your opinion!
I have the full range of the regular AD pencils, I haven't tried the Magnus but I'll see what I can find out.
