    excellent reaction , thank you
the words are very beautiful , "torna a casa" means come home but he doesn't say it to a woman he says it to his muse come home because without you I am nothing , without inspiration as an artist I am nothing , this is the song that made them big in Italy , before they became world famous

I love you clicked with them and you see their shining talent, they are sooo good at being intense in every way, when they are deep, and when they are silly. They really glow.

i'd suggest "I wanna be your slave" since it's their most popular original song. A great performance is the Glastonbury one, so you can also experience their true live energy (this performance of Torna a casa was during covid)

An interesting part about Damiano's singing, is that he has malformed vocal chords. He mentioned this in an interview a while back, and then a few months he did us the 'favor' of showing us a video of them after a doctor's visit. (traumatizing fandom in the process ;-) )
anyway it means that unlike most people who use a distorted voice, he doesn't actually have to put added strain on his voice to do so.

Keep in mind that Marlena is not actually a real woman but an impersonation of his Muse, his inspiration and passion for art and music that sometimes felt she went missing througout his life, thus 'Marlena please come back home'.
Damiano wrote that song when he was just 16.

Don't ever take Måneskin lyrics for granted ESPECIALLY the Italian songs, they are an integral part of the music. That statement that you don't care what they are saying made my head literally shake and gave my heart a pain. I almost can't continue the video.
Ok, I made it through the video and you slightly redeemed yourself, but to recommend my favorite songs of theirs would be useless if you don't care about the lyrics. Might as well stay with their simple English songs and not get into their best.

    • @RockandRollRelic
      @RockandRollRelic  5 месяцев назад +8

Sorry if I offended you. I meant no disrespect to you and certainly not to the band. I do my best to get into and relate to lyrics - but, admittedly, I'm an old, shallow bass player who's main concern is about the feel, the vibe, the melody, the groove and the energy of a song. I've read through the lyrics to this as well as other songs of theirs - and, while they are definitely poetic and beautiful, having a true and deep understanding of them and their meaning is not my main goal. Shallow... yes. But true. I have the utmost respect for the songwriting of this band and lyrics definitely are key. Just not MY priority. But I respect that they may be yours. Got to be honest :) I will, however, continue to feel and believe that this band is one of the most creative, artistic, exciting and innovative bands that I've come across in decades - despite my lack of lyrical awareness :)

@@RockandRollRelicno I get it, my ex is a drummer and he said he would have to hear a song at least 4 times to even hear the lyrics. It is just such an important and emotional connection for us fans with Damiano's lyrics, as I said especially the Italian songs and I know there is always something lots in translation. Thry have plenty of good songs where the lyrics aren't so important.

    Testo🇮🇹
Mi son lasciato tutto indietro e il Sole all'orizzonte

Scott you must not listen to some Italian fanatic (Italian like me) who thinks that only Maneskin exist or have existed. You don't have to indulge their need to be flattered with this story of the musical group born in Italy. Music has no boundaries. I love Maneskin and I have always defended them from the detractors, the incompetent and the fake music critics who think they are on another level by speaking badly of Manerskin, and I assure you there are many. In my opinion they are very, very, very good, but let's not forget those who made the history of Rock in the world: Led Zeppelin, Queen, The Beatles, Genesis, King Crimson, The Rolling Stones, Guns N' Roses, Fleetwood Mac, Pink Floyd, AC/DC. And these are just a few. It is important that everyone expresses their opinions freely. Anyway, long live the Maneskin. LUCA

If you do Coraline, I would love it if you could find a version of their live Sanremo performance (with accompanying orchestra) which does not have the lyrics plastered all over the screen. I find them very distracting, and actually harmful to the impact of the song. Such versions can can be found on Facebook or Vimeo, I think. The video may well get blocked (the Italian broadcaster seems particularly attentive) but I can assure you if you can swing it, people would come to watch… But do take a moment beforehand to read the translated lyrics so you understand the context, which is an Italian gothic tale of mental health issues, the inability to rescue someone else despite good intentions, and possibly darker matters.
Personally, I like the rockier side of Må as much as their soulful ballad side, and I agree with the comment asking for Glastonbury “I wanna be your slave”.

The traditional Italian pop music is a very closed circle of singers, producers, festivals. It's a very narrow style and in Europe it's known as Italo-pop.
If you do not fit in, you do not follow the lead of the ones who control everything in the music industry you have no chance.
And Måneskin didn't care. They didn't listen and basically risked their career in Italy. Times change and finally, those who have the power in the industry are too old.
But a lot of people in Italy are ashamed that screaming teenagers who dress like ... (you can imagine what conservative Italians say) represent Italy. The land of art and culture and history.
And then there are those who are against them because they were not perfect musicians. At the beginning of their carreer the guitarist was 14, the drummer and the base 15, the singer 17. That's when they wrote this song, Torna a casa.
But of course, they were not perfect with their instruments. Damiano, the singer, always had that voice and charisma. He carried them through the live shows. But the other three are the creative ones. They always liked to compose their songs, and all four of them contribute to the band. Damiano always says that he would not be where he is if the others were not there.
People remember Måneskin from the beginnings and do not see the progress they made.
Half of Italy hates them. There are conspiracy theories, radio hosts who do/did not play their music. There are even catholics who believe they have connections to the devil😂. Seriously.

@@RockandRollRelic I assume some the comments you talked about, saying they don't like them, might come from Italians...at least, that's what I've noticed. Whenever I see some negative things being said about them, 90% of the time it's written by Italians. It's really like the comment above states, that in Italy there's some weird hate campaign against them (doesn't stop them from topping the charts and selling out stadiums there).
A lot of it definitely has some socio-political background, as, as you said, Italy is a conservative country, so Måneskin is really going against the pack. They literally made a lot of things as a statement, as a way of fighting against discrimination and bigotry, something that they've seen being accepted as a norm in their homeland.
They also were very openly supporting Ukraine and criticizing Russia, at the same time when Italy was sitting on the fence, trying to be neutral and having many Putin supporters. Of course this again earned them being called "traitors" etc.
