I think you might be pretty much on the money there...save whatever injuries might occur. also: I cannot help but feel that there is space for josh strauss in there
either way....what a pool of talent scotland has assemebled!
Cheers mate. I tend to do team/squad selections on the basis of what I want to see whilst also taking slightly into account our head coach's previous selections and whilst I agree with you on Strauss and also believe Visser could be worthy of a spot for whatever reason Townsend who I highly rate does not fancy them for whatever reason.
You could swap Strauss for Bradburry or Fagerson and Visser for Darcy Graham or only bring 2 hookers/scrum-halves or take one less Centre to fit everyone in but all in all I feel unless things dramatically change over the next 18 months Strauss and Visser will not be going to the world cup with Scotland.
But if I was to go with my heart and select a 31 man squad including Strauss and Visser this would be my 31 man squad;

And that leaves out quality players/talents like Dell, Dickinson, Swinson, Matt Fagerson, Crosbie, Ritchie, Finlay Christie, Matt Scott. Darcy Graham etc. Exciting times for Scottish rugby.
I really like Darcy Graham, but I think he's a bit light for a 15s winger in the modern game. He seems more suited to 7s for my eyes.
PL there are tons of world class small wingers just now - just look at Shane Williams who is arguably the greatest winger of all time
BW1994 Shane Williams hasn't played international rugby since 2012.
Which top class international wingers are as small as Darcy Graham? Again, I don't dislike him, I simply feel that his speed and skill is more suited to international sevens.
He is a great player love watching him play in the ⚫️🔴
Bienvenue au stade toulousain. Il va s'y régaler.
Just me who thinks Blair's Scotland future lies on the wing. Stuart Hogg and Finn Russell ( I know he's slightly off-form just now but he's a class act who is only going to get better) look like holding onto the 15 and 10 Scotland jersey's for many years and lets face it the wing is easily our weakest area. Kinghorn has the pace, trickery and skill-set to play on the wing. He has gained the most meters and beaten the most defenders in the pro 14 and already has 8 tries this season and the majority of tries he has scored in his career have been true winger-like tries.
BW1994 I definitely wouldn't say wing is Scotland's weakest area at all.
Maitland, Seymour, L. Jones, McGuigan, Hoyland, Fife, Hughes and Visser are all capped at senior level, and you have the likes of Darcy Graham and Robbie Nairn coming through, as well as van der Merwe who wants to qualify through residency.
The area where Scotland are truly lacking is in a quality back-up or replacement for Russell at fly-half. I agree that he will be the incumbent for a good few years more, but if he's injured or playing badly (or being unused on a Lions tour), then Scotland lose allot in attack for the way in which they play.
That being said, I think Kinghorn will be a fullback or wing internationally for the foreseeable future.
You are entitled to your opinion mate but for me Wing and loosehead prop are by far our weakest areas.
BW1994 Just wondering, but why do you think wing is a weak area?
And are you saying fly-half isn't a weak area? Who would you say is the back-up to Russell?
No arguments about loose-heads. Good hookers and tight-heads with allot of recent game time are also in short supply from what I can see.
He is clearly a full back. But how could he take Hogg's place? Would Hogg make a good 13?
Certainly going forward our depth on the wing is likely to be an issue. Visser, Maitland, Seymour, McGuigan, L Jones are all 28 plus. That leaves us with Hoyland, Hughes, Fife as our only capped wingers - None of them have proved themselves in international colours. Graham is just starting out and Nairn has failed to break through at all at Harlequins or Glasgow.
I'd say Kinghorn is definitely a fullback by nature but we will need to find more wingers from somewhere...
He can really run the whole pitch !
I always mute these highlight reel videos. The music is never, ever good.
Feel free to make you're own ;)
