Chris Sharma bolted this spectacular line in Siurana, Spain, and spent two years trying to make the first ascent. Here's a raw, first-person look at his attempts on the Sleeping Lion project over several seasons. This year he sent the route, at age 41, suggesting a grade of 9b+ (5.15c). Watch the first ascent and the full story of Sharma's journey to stay on the cutting edge of climbing while juggling two young kids and a growing business, in our new film Sleeping Lion, available now for subscribers on Reel Rock Unlimited. Watching sharma try hard always gets me psyched
So psyched!
That’s a weird way to spell hard
Never get sick of watching the man.
Or listening to him talk
Glad they brought that flute guy back from the dura dura video. Really adds to the vibe.
I met this guy in the parking of the sector just 2 days ago. He has over 100 flutes and makes them himself. What a legend, and talented guy, he even let me play bit.😂
does anyone know what type of flute that is?
because that sound is surreal
Damn! Why do Sharma lines always look so much more inspiring than others? This is what hard climbing should look like!!!
King lines for sure but i think it’s his climbing style that sets him apart. He climbs differently, he’s more athletic, he flows from side to side, cuts feet a lot. A perfect example is biographie all the other ascentionists look like they have their body face the wall more and their progression is more stop and go.
I missed watching the king climb so much! So glad see him push hard again! It reminds me how pshyched i was 10 years ago, when i started climbing and watching his videos everyday!
so true
Hands down the best rock climber to watch. Just awesome. Love Tenaya's Indalos too.
Damn, this just reminded me of another amazing climber that I remember watching when I was growing up. By some crazy coincidence, his name was also Chris Sharma, but this was a long time ago (probably like 20 years ago). He looked kinda similar, like a California stoner version of this Spanish dude. Anyway, I wonder if he's still climbing because he's gotta be pretty old now...
He's probably smoking weed somewhere with that Graham guy
Is the same guy
You go old man!, you were my hero back in 96-97 when I first saw you in Rock & Ice......
We were there in November 22. Incredible, watching him and Toni warming up on 7c - my limit 🤣. Really stunning to the the moves, fails & evolution in such detail. Love it!
Why is watching sharma the best? I love it
Sharma is a living legend! Insane that he can still pull it off with the sheer determination tactics! Can't wait for the full movie!
It occurred to me that in the endless hours I have watched of Chris climbing, I've never seen him use a kneebar 🤔
Crazy that he got to the last move fifteen times before finally redpointing.
@@terraflow__bryanburdo4547 He uses a knee bar rest on La Dura Dura
So true! He is and will be my everlasting idol.
WOW amazing footage, honestly this is the stuff i wanna see
Que grande Chris! 41 pirulos y sigue fuerte. Increible.
Man!!
Nice work Ricardo on capturing some awesome sports action!
holy shit, this is some of the coolest climbing footage i've ever seen. what a surprise!
watching great climbers always makes me miss being able to climb again. ahh the memories !
Why no more climbing?
I cannot WAIT to see this film 🤤
Sharma has the most beautiful climbing style from anyone I've ever seen, and I don't see that changing any time soon.
Agreed. It's so raw and soulful and somatic, yet technically excellent. It's different from watching Ondra climb, who strikes me as technically perfect, but sterile.
interesting.@@sirhenrystalwart8303
no way you actually belive that
@@rdtarcade7644 Why would I lie about my personal opinions?
look at Charles Albert
😎😎😎😎👏👏👏👏…..bellissimo video , grande Chris….👍👍
That's the most human Ive seen Chris. Like that it feels like when I climb. Vamos dale ahí duro!
Love watching Sharma climb! Btw hes lookin badass with that beard!
Love watching the real process. Lots of frustration, failure and slow progress
Such an exciting style of climbing! He's such a predator on the wall :)
What an inspiration, legend
"Climbing is also my escape", well said Dude ! :)
What an incredible guy!
What a KING line 🔥
Awesome...
The legend !
So Good
Looks clear to me that Sharma choses his projects according to the echo of the crag
Cool ad. Thanks
What a rock star!
Let's go!!
Still is and will always be the King of his King lines and what a King line this is - es perfecto no?
The beast awakens!
Looks freaking insanely hard.
CRAZY SICK
Epic
se habla de una leyenda. se dice que por las montañas se vuelven a escuchar sus gritos, Sharma el único, inigualable, un mito real que cambio el orden de la naturaleza.
Brutal❤
There isn't a single rest on this thing. And each move looks so insane. Holy shit.
0:20 was the cleanest little kick over I’ve ever seen
Wowzers
AAAAAAHHHHH!! My fingers are sweating!
Nice 👍 ❤
Chris is the OG goat
me sudan las manos viendo a este loco apretar! venga chris, crack!
Witness the fitness
As an old fart who has climbed all over California, and done atrip to Smith Rocks,in Oregon,it's easy to see why Chris now lives in Spain.I also once had a chance to climb the linestone outside Innsbruck,Austria.
Amazing! Anybody can tell me what is that flute?
🐐
Sleeping Lion Project: The Fucker Edit 😄
Sharma never fails to put up absolutely king lines!
Return of the flute dude
Redefining what hard route means.
What kinds flute is that I want one
Speaks Spanish, swears English. Love it
One time this professional climber from California, really strong, surfer looking dude said to a young developing Adam Ondra: "A well oiled climbing machine".
I tip my hat back to you sir, smooth and precise!
Incredible my man, way to piss-eye-T
Why not release the actual raw attempts from the ground up? Really a shame this is cut up so agressively
Amazing how you never see any tape on his fingers
Wonder why that is.....
Chris Sharma is the world's most talented climber.
no
The Lion King slept and woke up 🦁
so much cooler to all steps to fail, Ondra be there sooon
No other sport has such an amazing GOAT!!!
true but the goat ist chris
@@rdtarcade7644 Who else has been at the top of the game longer..?
@@seanclimb the huber brothers for example
but why does that determine who is the goat
@@rdtarcade7644 GOAT = Greatest of all Time. You have to be on the top of the game for a long time to achieve that. No offense to the Hubers but they are definitely not the GOATS of climbing.
@@seanclimb according to your logic though they should be as they were still doing 8c multipitches and nose speed record in the 2010s so they were older than sharma is now
Oh again, another great ascent blocked by money. I guess I will head up to La Dura Dura or Silence video again since I will not pay 120$ to watch one ascent.
Does anyone know what the flute in the beginning is called?
What kind of instrument is this,, can anyone tell me??
Does anybody know what shoes he’s wearing?
Seeing that this is sponsored by Tenaya... one of their models.
Edit: Comparing with the website, the model is "Indalo"
They're Tenaya. Their straps are pretty instantly recognizeable
All I can here is Jake Johnson from The New Girl.
Who the hell is the longhair guy with the flute? Looks like he was playing it while Chris was attempting La Dura Dura as well.
What is he, Chris's spellsinger?
What flute is that ?
you mean roar attempts?
what an inspiration this man, but this apart he swears and comment in Spanish :)
Very entertaining. Please stop doing the far away shots though. Its hard to really understand what is happening when the camera is pulled far away.
How does this guy not have severe arthritis at this point?
because climbing doesnt cause arthritis.
I know of no other legend in climbing that is still doing legend stuff over such a long period. Keep it up chris, from new zealand
Dave Graham
well then you dont know many climbing legends
@@rdtarcade7644 oh do u know them all, u sound like trump
@@trevormungeam Dave was after chris was a legend
reel rock unlimited is so expensive --.-- yall have a student discount?
Ooo Simmm X° Lolll
Those holds suck, crazy he can use them on such a steep route, especially near the top. Its one thing being able to bear down for a move or two on garbage sloped crimps, but doing 30M on a steep wall with nothing but that trash is otherwordly.
That rock does not want to be climbed...
A chris te la faccio io sicura che è meglio😂
Chris climbs the hardest 9b+ in the world !!!! Because he is the best! This is 9c like a cannon ! 🫦
can’t wait for the full video. now i understand this may be a reel rock feature ? also can’t wait for others to try. jakob. seb. adam ?
