Awakenings can and do come in any number of ways. What we awaken to is that what we truly are is Awareness/Consciousness - true Self-Knowledge. We can then come to see that Awareness/Consciousness/God is all there is. That in truth, there is nothing we are not.
Ruperts presence is so peaceful. His voice, his mannerisms, the way he takes his time and is so calculated yet simultaneously free flowing with his responses is so refreshing. And I love how all he is doing is reflecting my true self back to me, so the qualities I love in him, I too can tap into.
Law of attraction starts with the assumption that you are not yet complete, that there's something you need to attract in order to find fulfillment. It's actually pretty materialistic in practice. People are trying to materialize all sorts of things which they imagine is what they need to find fulfilment. Nonduality on the other hand states that you already are all that you can ever be, and that it's your assumption that you are not which results in a feeling of unfulfillment and seeking. So one is about gathering stuff to appease whatever you crave, and the other is about seeing what already is the case, and in seeing what the source of all the craving is.
That was an interesting exchange of ideas. My takeaway from it is that the intentions that matter the most are those that come from a deep sense of perceiving our existence from a place of abundance instead of lack. Fear of lack leads to greed and hoarding, which affects humanity and therefore our sense of oneness. Needing and wanting are two different things.
By realising your true unlimited abundant nature, you effortlessly become a magnet to wonderful things appearing in your reality. This is what the law of attraction is in a nutshell.
Sorry I'm sure you have good intentions but I can't help but read what you've written as another bending of non-dual teachings into support for the new age Law of Attraction movement which is very seductive to the ego. Do you have any quotes from non-dual (or Buddhist) masters saying that you will become a magnet to wonderful things? They teach you to turn your attention to your pure awareness / being / presence which eventually leads you to the source of all happiness.

I think that both paths serve one purpose - to realize that we are Consciousness that creates reality. We can choose to go within and find our Real Self, or we can experiment with the surrounding us reality and, by affecting it, find out that it is inseparable from us. The most important is to understand that our main goal is the realization of The Self and not just an acquisition of imaginary things. When used for this purpose, The Law of Attraction can serve our spiritual goals, but it can lead to greater entanglement with imaginary reality when misunderstood.

What you can do - is choose. You can choose your beliefs, and you can also find out that your beliefs create your life and all the outcomes. They are like programs. I can’t wrap my head around people saying we’re humans only to live like monks and have no desires. Why not just stay source? It only makes sense to me to come here and live up the experience
We are meant to enjoy. But look at your motives. You will know from experience what enjoyment will be lasting. Enjoy nice things if you can afford it and not get into debt and it makes you feel good then others around you feel good too. If they don't - then it's their issue something with them that is perhaps something they need to work on. Or they may not be well in which case the understanding about that will help you not take it personally.

This can only come by the recognition that you are not a separate self, that what you are truly before anything, is awareness or consciousness. Once one truly understands that what they fundamentally are is the imperturbable peaceful field of awareness, they will be at peace, they will be joyous, they will be happy. Therefore once one realizes that this is their underlying fundamental being, everything they do will be out of peace, love, and joy. Fulfilling "one's desires" in the absolute sense, the sense of "the law of attraction", can only come from this place of peace, love, joy, primarily because creating, or manifesting, can not be done in any other emotional state. Do you think you can build an empire being depressed, anxious, or apprehensive? It can be done, and it has been done, but it is more difficult, and less likely to happen if your desires are coming from a state of non-inner peace.

I ask myself a combination of two questions. “On who’s behalf did this thought arise?” I ask this question when my thoughts pop up. The answer will take you back to your being, awareness, or consciousness. You don’t need to think to “find” the answer. At first you might, but by the 3rd, 4th, or 5th time of asking, the mental abstractions to find the answer will begin to dissolve, as the answer becomes experiential, pure awareness. The second question I ask my self, “Am I aware?” (I pause) “Yes” This is a profound question. The answer, which is always an unequivocal yes will take you into the true nature of yourself. One mustn’t think and ponder if they are aware or not because awareness is eternal. You’ve always been aware. Hence “following the pathless path” or “opening the gateless gate”. I love Rupert´s answer. The law of attraction is just a tool. It´s there. You are free to use it or not. But if you do, you have to learn how to do it wisely, otherwise it can become a very deceptive thing and entangle you in the world of "shiny things" and move you away from your true nature. We are all using laptops and cellphones all the time, which in my opinion, are much more distractive tools.

I wonder how can someone arrive at the conclusion that the impersonal is the essence of peace joy justice and any other virtue, and not the personal. When I look at the universe or a particular tree or any other impersonal appearance, I take for granted that they are not the essence of love etc, they cannot know anything either as we know. But we can and sense those virtues. So should we conclude that consciousness is personal and not impersonal? It seems obvious to me. And that the seeming separate self thinks is autonomous doesn’t deny that’s fact, that there is a real personal absolute from which everything instantiate. The impersonal comes from the personal but not viceversa.
When we are manifesting, it is god or life expressing itself. But when we pretend to be a human, then it seems to us that we attracted ehat we desired. Although we did not attract it. We created it. With the mind, which is the tool we have to create. So what we desire already exists we only need to express it by using the mind so that we can also create the desire as a form. A better name would be the law of creation maybe?
And what's wrong with it. Do you enjoy dishonesty? When you have a covid and you are lying in a hospital bed on a breathing machine are you not lacking health? When you are very hungry are you not lacking food? When an African child which is anorectic and extremely hungry is lacking food should it keep quiet because the universe would recognize that the child is lacking? It is extremely obvious that the child is lacking food long-term because you can see it on its body, and it is also obvious that your universe doesn't care about that child whatsoever so I am not even sure about your beliefs. Should the child apply a thinking style of "not lacking" and suddenly the food would appear as the manifestation of the child brainwashing itself?

If you Awareness aren't a body that goes out and "get's things" but instead are only awareness then you only ever attract. The essence of law of attraction is saying the same thing as nonduality.
It is so funny. I went and listened to the podcast with Rhonda and the way she talks about The Secret is just funny. Everybody surely knows she got it all from Abraham-Hicks, right?! They were originally IN the film because it was based on their Teachings and now she acts as if she came up with it? Sometimes I manifest funny things in my Universe 😂
I liked the answer Rupert gave just thatI would call it impersonal desire since both terms are incompatible, yet I understand why he says it, because of the idea o what a person is. A more suitable dichotomy would be selfish/selfless desires.
An impersonal desire could be ahead of our time and because of that could not be fulfilled, but create the seeds for it to happen later. So I don't think that the fulfilment is necessary the sign of an impersonal desire. Or it is only looking on a much longer perspective, but you could be already dead.

Law of attraction is a stepping stone , it too will continue to show up false since it is only temporary, therefore not real . This has been my personal experience with all attempts to ease pain, sadness etc… I know from personal experience that the one truth consciousness is eternally my last resort , it’s is the only real to be known . I think once you get a taste or glimpse of the God self aka truth , life as we knew it is over. Everything falls away , it’s only a waiting game so to speak . 🙏🏻♥️
How can you differentiate between a personal and impersonal desire? Even desires to help family and friends are there because when they come to fruition I'll feel happy to know that others are doing well. Can anyone help me reconcile this?
I think this is a great question. Perhaps the answer lies in our non-attachment to outcomes. You write “I’ll feel happy to know…”. Of course you will, because you love your family and friends, but such interpersonal love is merely a reduction of the impersonal love we feel for God - which manifests as pure happiness, which is God! Pure happiness is God loving God. Everything is perfect as it is, and - imo - the only desire worth harbouring is the desire to know that, without doubt.
@@prahslra so basically since I'm attached to outcomes it's still a personal desire? If it's impersonal then would that mean I'm happy just doing the action irrespective of the result? I haven't found anything that really fits that category except playing games with friends and even then when I lose I frame it as learning and enjoying the improvement.
When we talk about impersonal, we have transcended the mind. We are in the spirit realm beyond duality. Beyond personal and impersonal. All is One where nobody does anything for the other including even desiring for the other because there is no other. There is no such thing as differentiating because all is one. How do I know weather the Desire is of true Nature or Not? How to distinguish it from a personal desire?

With the mind, which is the tool we have to create. So what we desire already exists we only need to express it by using the mind so that we can also create the desire as a form. If you are trying to tell the Universe to manifest money, happiness or love to you, really, you are just telling the Universe that you are lacking.
And what's wrong with it. Do you enjoy dishonesty? When you have a covid and you are lying in a hospital bed on a breathing machine are you not lacking health? When you are very hungry are you not lacking food? When an African child which is anorectic and extremely hungry is lacking food should it keep quiet because the universe would recognize that the child is lacking? It is extremely obvious that the child is lacking food long-term because you can see it on its body, and it is also obvious that your universe doesn't care about that child whatsoever so I am not even sure about your beliefs. Should the child apply a thinking style of "not lacking" and suddenly the food would appear as the manifestation of the child brainwashing itself?

@@TomeRodrigo You missed the whole point. If you have something you are missing, do the work to get it, instead of being lazy and avoiding the work by hoping that the Universe will fulfill your personal-ego desires. Hence Rupert doesn't use manifestation work in his teachings, it's very shallow.

If you Awareness aren't a body that goes out and "get's things" but instead are only awareness then you only ever attract. The essence of law of attraction is saying the same thing as nonduality.
It is so funny. I went and listened to the podcast with Rhonda and the way she talks about The Secret is just funny. Everybody surely knows she got it all from Abraham-Hicks, right?! They were originally IN the film because it was based on their Teachings and now she acts as if she came up with it? Sometimes I manifest funny things in my Universe 😂

An impersonal desire could be ahead of our time and because of that could not be fulfilled, but create the seeds for it to happen later. So I don't think that the fulfilment is necessary the sign of an impersonal desire. Or it is only looking on a much longer perspective, but you could be already dead.

Law of attraction is a stepping stone , it too will continue to show up false since it is only temporary, therefore not real . This has been my personal experience with all attempts to ease pain, sadness etc… I know from personal experience that the one truth consciousness is eternally my last resort , it’s is the only real to be known . I think once you get a taste or glimpse of the God self aka truth , life as we knew it is over. Everything falls away , it’s only a waiting game so to speak . 🙏🏻♥️

How can you differentiate between a personal and impersonal desire? Even desires to help family and friends are there because when they come to fruition I'll feel happy to know that others are doing well.

I think this is a great question. Perhaps the answer lies in our non-attachment to outcomes. You write “I’ll feel happy to know…”. Of course you will, because you love your family and friends, but such interpersonal love is merely a reduction of the impersonal love we feel for God - which manifests as pure happiness, which is God! Pure happiness is God loving God. Everything is perfect as it is, and - imo - the only desire worth harbouring is the desire to know that, without doubt.
@@prahslra so basically since I'm attached to outcomes it's still a personal desire? If it's impersonal then would that mean I'm happy just doing the action irrespective of the result? I haven't found anything that really fits that category except playing games with friends and even then when I lose I frame it as learning and enjoying the improvement.
When we talk about impersonal, we have transcended the mind. We are in the spirit realm beyond duality. Beyond personal and impersonal. All is One where nobody does anything for the other including even desiring for the other because there is no other. There is no such thing as differentiating because all is one. All is infinite and uncaused.
@@Giatros89 I think that is what I was trying to say, yes. I think the practice of meditation allows a loosening of this attachment. I think it’s the nature of the ego to hold on to storylines, outcomes, concepts, because each of is starring in our own movie. Ultimate reality is beyond such petty considerations. But rather than lament over this trap in which we find ourselves, we can begin the journey to freedom by taking ourselves less seriously. Then by showing ourselves compassion. The practice of meditation can help dissolve our attachments.
Fear is the indicator. If there is fear and a thought of competition, it is Ego-motivated and thus a personal desire.

Not a thoughtful comment. The phenomenon he is describing exists as a common experience. Refusing to use a specific term is a choice that doesn't remove the experience.
It's like refusing to say "climate change" or "global warming" or "sunrise."
"The Universe is infinite and abundant" "The Universe has great difficulty meeting the desires of the separate self." Those two statement are irrevocably incongruent.
I've seen a few of these 1 on 1s of Rupert's and it always seems like the person he's talking to wants to do most of the talking xD. I guess they're just nervous but it comes across a bit annoying, not gonna lie.
