I RETIRED FROM THE AMERICAN GOVERNMENT AND BUILT MY HOME IN GHANA ON A FARM
It is estimated that at least 1,500 African Americans have moved to Ghana since 2019.
Ghana has been encouraging African Americans to move to the West African nation since 2019, urging them to connect with their African roots through the year of return initiative. The cost of living is substantially lower than in many major U.S. cities. The weather is also warm year-round. In this video, I interview Calvin who retired from the US government and has now built his home in Ghana.

My name is Jasmine and I have relocated from Sydney Australia to Ghana in west Africa as of the year 2020.
My parents are of Ghanaian descent and so am I although I was born in Australia. Here on my channel, my goal is to give you a real glimpse into what it’s like to live in Ghana and other parts of Africa, from the food, to the culture, to the lifestyle and everything in between. My goal is to satisfy your curiosity about Ghana and other African countries.
My prayer is that these videos do just that for several African’s in the diaspora.
Follow your bliss because life is short, follow your bliss because human life has no intrinsic value, follow your bliss because everything happens for the greater good and follow your bliss because it has all happened before.
As a Jamaican raised in Washington DC, I'm also building apartments for rent in Nsawam, just 20 minutes drive to ACCRA, your videos are inspiring a lot of us, I recently purchased 25 acres for a poultry farm. When everything is done I will invite you to show it to the world. Thank you so much for sharing
Well hello!👋🏿
I guess, I need to place your information down as well and get started. I need all my options because the exit from this land for myself, is real! By the way, I am from DC as well... Still here.
My dream is to move to Africa as well. Can you also let me know about your information?
Where in Nsawam please ?
👏🏿🇯🇲
Very good to see this brother return home - I would encourage him that whatever foods he plants from the US that he ensure it’s Non GMO and organic or get seeds from the EU (France/Italy) who ban most of not all GMO - we must protect the soil - good video Jas
“Anything you can do in America, you can do in Ghana….!” FACTS!!!❤
Yes indeed
I'm Ghanaian. Lived and work in U.S. for nine yrs. Now, I've been back in Ghana 11yrs now. Living and running my own business. When you live in America and return to Ghana, all you see is opportunities. It's kind of like you don't see how we're blessed here till you've been to the U.S. and back!!! I can't Wait to go on my own farming adventure. I love farming and living with nature. ❤❤❤😊
This is my guy. Exactly what happened to me after 7yrs in America, I visited Nigeria and my eyes opened to so many business opportunities.
Why other native africans can' t see those opportunities😂😂😂😂
Because of lacks exposure @@orlindomachengo8216
@@orlindomachengo8216In life the more you travel the more you'll see things.
l wish him well.lt's a shame most of us Africans cant wait to leave Africa but these guys are seeing the opportunity and peace we are leaving behind and are investing heavily in it.There are millions of places like this laying fallow everywhere in Africa..The grass is not always greener on the other side, let us make the best of what is in our backyard..Looking radiant Jas.❤❤Cheers.
So true and thank u 🥰
@suntanglory
Most leaving Africa may have a genuine reason, they need a pathway to livelihood, their countries and governments provide none of that, they need the seeding that is necessary to start .
I know right!
I agree with your assessment.
@@stanleyglover5534Government everywhere creat few jobs it's the private sectors that offers the most employment.
I love my country rich country just poorly managed by our leaders . Once u have the opportunity to travel do and don’t forget to do something back home … it only gets better when you have the money to do great things back home and don’t forget to move back to enjoy your property in your retirement probably earlier life is soo short 😅
I followed my bliss and moved to Ghana in August!! Im opening a restaurant/cafe in East Legon!! Hope to meet you soon
That’s lovely

Absolutely, we must protect our natural crops. We must eat healthy to avoid cancer and other diseases from gmo engineered foods supply.
Congratulations my Good Man!
I am very proud of you!
I retired 10 years ago and I built my retirement home in Chado (near Labadi beach in Accra) last year!
Oh lovely

I love this!! Would love to retire there as well. From upstate NY so did a lot of farming!
Am following my bliss oo....coming to Ghana!
Wohoo 🥰
That's crazy that an Indian restaurant had that type of sign in Ghana! I'm African American and have visited Ghana and I really liked my time there. I love my life in the US however I will definitely be back to visit again.
So good to hear. I know i was shocked about that too..
Great content, greetings from Kenya. Ghana we love you.❤
Aw 🙏🏾❤️
On the topic of the Indian restaurant
Jasmin, I expect a clear opinion and discussion from you on such a topic. „Wow interesting is not enough“
Nice Video like usually ❤
I love your content. Much love from Kenya.
Calvin's farm is great. The land is beautiful with the green mountains behind it. He has a lot of interesting experiences to share. I enjoyed this kind of interview. Almost like being there. Excellent video. I like that he pays his employees well. They become more productive when you value their skills and work.
Money transfer part got me😂😂. He's enjoying the best of his life.✌🏿✌🏿
Thanks
@@SHAI-HILLSi had the same.problem with thr banks when I was in Ghana last October. Had to come back to the states to fix it. Usa banks be effin up the program
I looooooved the interview with this guy. He is so right about tribalism in Africa and his mindset on how to treat his employees. We rather be panafricanists. I personally don't understand how in Africa we accept to be mistreated. This is hands down one of the best interviews in your channel. By the way is farm is good project and that mountain as a backgound? Amazing! I hope it's going to be preserved. I've really enjoyed this vlog.
My operation will not effect the mountainside
Big up Calvin....we all appreciate you too😊
Hello friend!! Love to see what you've built for yourself and watching your journey, so proud of you Calvin! Much love🎉
I knew I saw this house today, passed by the main road on my way to the Volta region❤. Very nice interview, this man is really intelligent.

Aw so lovely to hear, welcome 🙏🏾💕
The house is really beautiful, especially inside.
Thank you
Calvin Daniels is a positive person. He lost 120 lbs. which is 54 kg. He is leasing out the snail farm for passive income while retaining the other acreage for his active income. Calvin could do more good for himself and Ghanaian by buying the fish farms dirty water. The fish excrement makes good fertilizer for his plants, and fish farms must frequently release that water since it is bad for the fish. Calvin himself has stated that his maize is nutrient deficient. Both he and the Fish farmer would benefit with such a cooperation.
I never stated I'm leasing my land for passive income. I'm NOT. I never said the Maize 🌽 is nutrient deficient. I said I don't like the taste of Ghanaian Maize
@@SHAI-HILLS I apologize for misconstruing the narrative. However, I believe that you are still in a vulnerable position due to your water situation. Though you can currently pay for water while others cannot that is only a temporary advantage. You will be in a more secure position with artificial ponds in the high ground to gravity feed water to the low lands. I am mindful of Joseph in the book of Genesis. He prepared all of Egypt during the time of the seven fat cows for time of the seven skinny cows.
I'm confused by your statement. I don't Purchase Water. I have three Boreholes supplying more than enough water. We are planting our crops now, the beginning of the dry season due to our great water situation
How CAN I LINK UP WITH SOMEONE TO BUY LAND FROM, IM TIRED OF MICHIGAN WEATHER
Like Kenya?
wow
Enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing
