This really was a great time for GM. Not only do you have the all new 1963 Corvette Stingray , but also the introduction of the 63 Buick Riviera. The 63-65 Riviera was a gorgeous personal luxury automobile. A true classic. My gym teacher in junior high had a 65 Riviera in 1977. I thought he was cool . When most teachers were driving little Datsun B210's and Volkswagen Beatles .

You are the most entertaining narrator in human history!!!!!
I hesitated to watch this. When I was a little kid a guy that owned one of these scared me pretty badly. Steve seems like a kind man and calmed me some about these cars. I wish I could ride in it with him. Steve also deserves high honors for his care of this car. As always Charles, a great video, Thank You.
Charles... I've seen an "R" like that before... I saw it in my favorite lesbian aunt's optimistic handwriting. (That's one of your best lines, EVER... Absolutely hilarious 😂)
One of my favorites. Such clean uncluttered design. The buckets and console, 3:10 the 140mph speedo I remember that as a kid! This is like out of Madmen right. Peace all! 🇺🇦
Charles... you've outdone yourself with this one... just exquisitely done at the frontal shot at :45 to 1:00 (that's all i've watched thus far) is BEYOND enlightening.. that REFLECTION on the dorsal plane of the front bumper! holy f'ck! and as you say... that amazing angular thing going on!
The first time I saw one of these I was suprised at how old it was. Such a modern outline for 1964. With that said, I'm from the U.K. where our car styling was 10 years behind this at the time. That's not to say I don't like British cars, I love them but styled up to the minute they generally weren't, compared to the likes of this.
these Buicks were the most beautiful cars, it led the way to the 67 Eldorado. both are fabulous cars. I own a 1989 Eldorado biarritz that I love, but would never turn down a hard glance at a Riv. !
My dad bought a 79’ Riviera off the showroom floor and if you look at this 64’ the very rear shape of quarter panel is practically identical to the 79’-85’ the way it falls into rear bumper
How's that for a car! If ever there was a 1960s automotive masterpiece, this would be it! 1964 Riviera, by Buick Yeah, baby! I know, right?! This is my favourite year for the Riviera until the 1971-73 Riviera years. :)
@@dj33036 That's right, it is. I've always loved the 1963 and 64 Buick Riviera. IMHO, they're the best looking cars until the 1966 Riviera, and then the 1971-73 "boattail" Riviera. :)
This car looks SO MODERN for a 1964. It could have came out in 1974 and would have looked great. I think this car was GM's test mule for 1970's styling. Unfortunately the early 70's Riviera became too big and overstyled. By the 76 and 77 model year it was good looking again just before the downsizing of 1978.
The wild fin era was just a few years before. Amazing that they could have come up with such a refined, elegant car in such a short time after atomic-age crazytown.
Yes you are so right. William Shatner had a 63 split window Corvette Stingray. There is a photo going around on Pinterest of Nimoy kneeling in front of a 70 GTO . Someone took the picture of him kneeling beside his Buick Riviera and transposed the GTO into the picture.
I own a 1969 Mustang Grande , but I have always loved the Riviera .....Thank you Charles ....
My Dad's best friend had the model after this one with the pointed rear trunk. I loved that car, so cool and he had an eye patch, even cooler. I know!
Awesome Buick with everything perfect as is the driver........great job Steve!!!!!!!!

The 63--66 Buick Riviera is one of my most favorite car models. Just the opposite of the typical 50's clown car designs. So elegant.!
Just Fantastic Charles !
Love this, love the voice, love the car, look at this video
You want to look at the video? FINE! There it is. :)
Love this car! Thanks for sharing. 😎
Soooooo SWEET! Love it! My buddy has a '65 Riviera Gran Sport, with hide-away lights. Magnificient! Thanks Charles. Love your channel!

Had one in 1971-what a car!

Love those towers of parking light powers.

Something so classic about this car

Charles' Voice of the Space Age. It's out of this world!

Love the power vent windows.

Just beautiful! So unique, love it!
You do justice to this exquisite Buick.
thank you!
The coolest mid 60’s car. GTO’s are way cool, but the 64-65 Rivieras are thoroughly BOSS.
My dad bought a 79’ Riviera off the showroom floor and if you look at this 64’ the very rear shape of quarter panel is practically identical to the 79’-85’ the way it falls into rear bumper
SWEEEET RIDE!
Chihuahua level! Im dying😄
Buick was at its peak during the 60’s

The '63 was almost identical.

The styling was 10 years ahead of its time .
Love Buick
very sweet ..
I'd like to see this in La Canada again!
The finest Riv of all time!
GASP!

I'm 1st it's a pleasure! Mr Phoenix, please be careful, your enthusiasm for classic cars is going to make you shoot something out cho head you need.
At Chihuahua level!
Leonard Nimoy aka Mr. Spock owned this car in black

Who was Ellen Staples?
Aren't those headlights supposed to disappear and reappear? Thanks!
I think disappearing headlights were an option. Same as wood trim on dash, console, etc,
Sounds like you had a little drinky-poos just before the commentry Charles
Eye nose it!
Personally, aside from the front; I think the rest of the exterior is pretty blah, especially the back.
some say understated ...
You’re right, it maybe needs a vinyl roof.🤔
