"I hope people don't remember Lin Dan just for the numerous titles that he won, but also for working hard to pursue his goals, in spite of poor performance and old age. In my opinion, that is more meaningful than winning titles."

Pardon my French, but bullshit. It is all about the titles. Lots of people work hard and go to great lengths to achieve their goals. However, it takes more than that to be a champion who can perform at the highest level on the biggest stage. It takes the mind and heart. Lin Dan was the greatest at that.

@@mountaindew7190 i'm sorry but that is not b.s. Do you know Taufik Hidayat? He was Indonesian MS player with supernatural talent on par with Lin Dan. He won so many titles including Olympic and Asian Games gold before he hit 26 years of age, (also reached no. 1 at age 19, not even Super Dan could achieve those feats so early in his career). Then you know what happened next? His career went downhil ironically as he was supposed to hit his peak years as player? You know why? Because he STOPPED working hard and lived a celebrity life with fancy cars, celeb gfs, and gossip.
Talent alone is NOT enough, you need to work hard to achieve your dream. Lin Dan clearly refers to this.

titles and all help build your legend but it's your ethics that solidify and eternalize it. Basically if you're a shit human being or easily put down when you enter a tough spot in life, no one's gonna bother to remember you for long, no matter how many titles or talents you have

Ma long? He doesnt play badminton. I think you missunderstood the thing with the 2 spots. To explain it, in badminton there are 2 spots in every discipline so in mens singles (Shi yuqi and chen long, just as an example), and then there are 2 spots for mens doubles, and 2 spots in mixed doubles and so on.
I think in tennis and tabletennis its the same system, so Ma long will be there I guess
