    I have a 2017 Tracer 900... awesome bike. Mine has a quickshifter too, and I love it. But gotta say, this is no adventure bike. It is very much a road-focused sports touring machine (being based on the MT09, here in Europe), with a nod to adventure bike styling. I enjoyed your enthusiastic review! 👍

    It’s a great bike I upgraded from the Tracer 700 5 months now & no regrets. Installed Fehling crash bars, tail tidy, led indicators & Smart turn self canceling indicator system it works perfect one of my best investments.

    I went on a Yamaha demo ride yesturday and they had Tracer 900GT there in full dress.. beautiful bike. It looks so much better in person for some reason. The demo Tracer had a Yoshimura Tracer full exhaust... oh wow!! It sounds like a beast!!! Thats all i can say. Completely different sound from the stock exhaust. If you get one of these, save up the $1,200 or so and get the Yoshi,,, it will transform your Sport Tourer... great job yamaha.

      I've ridden both the previous FJ-09 and the new Tracer 900GT. The Tracer is noticably smoother, especially with the throttle, the jerky throttle of the FJ-09 is long gone, even in A mode I found the fueling to be not very twitchy (could be a POV thing as I ride a Versys 650 which is a tad twitchy on/off throttle).

    Good review, I have this bike and can tell you that the foot peg vibrations are very annoying, and changing pegs to the fjr helps a little but it’s still there, and I will sadly be changing the GT for something else early 2019. I thoroughly enjoy your enthusiasm in some of these reviews. I had the exact same response when I rode this bike. I would've bought it in a heartbeat but I absolutely couldn't sell my wife on it. She said it's the ugliest bike she's ever seen and that "you're 43, not 23! That looks like a kids bike!" I thoroughly disagree. I love the looks. Most fun all-around bike I've ever ridden. I ultimately ended up with a Triumph Trophy SE, which is a fantastic bike as well, and my wife actually approved it 🤷‍♂️. Your review of the Trophy was a major reason I looked at it, so thanks a bunch. I still watch that review often just because of your enthusiasm in it. Keep it up!

    2 biggest complaints I've heard with this bike, 1) if you have a bigger foot, the front to rear peg placement is bad. 2) forget about 2 up with bags if you're over 125lbs. The rear suspension is poorly sprung. The front suspension is good as they firmed it up and the wheelbase is longer on these tracer as opposed to the MT09.

    I bought the non-GT 2019 model. I don't want a quick shifter or heated grips. The great thing about this bike is the bang for the buck ratio. The GT model only has marginally more bang for significantly more buck. I am a tall guy. This bike is tall enough to have great ergonomics, yet it feels and handles like a smaller lighter bike. This is a really great general purpose street bike.

    The CP3 engine has a bit of "grainy" course-vibration feeling from the pegs, bars, and tank. It's more grainy than the tingle of an inline-4, but it's not a thrum of a twin. I think if Yamaha would have put a counter-rotating balance shaft in the triple, it would have completely removed the vibration but then it wouldn't have been as free revving as it is.

    • @applecorp
      @applecorp 4 года назад

      It's because of that "grainy" vibration that I eventually sold my 2015 model after 12 months of ownership. It just irritated me on an almost daily basis, nothing I tried reduced that feel, it's just part of the bikes design. Shame, as otherwise it's a really great bike. Traded it for a 2018 Tiger 800 XRT.

    @MrTrek164 5 лет назад +1

    Glad you enjoyed the tracer .I loved the engine as I also love triples and to be honest prefer the yam to the triumph . However I tried all the crop of adventure bikes and as a surprise to myself found the Honda vrf800x crossrunner to be a better package overall .The pluses being seat height adjustability and the ability to adjust further if needed which unfortunately the tracer only has a 15mm option due to the shock layout ,so if your a 29"-30" inside leg the tracer is an issue which is a great shame .The tracer gt was supposed to have a lot better suspension,it did have an improvement but not enough and when pushed suffers from composure,the Honda is so fly sprung but can be dialled out and still remains composed hard or soft and again very surprised.The gt for the money difference over its standard tracer in my honest opinion is not worth the extra and I would buy a used low miler of the standard and spend some cash on uprating the grade of the suspension combined with a remap/reflash of the Ecu to improve its fuelling.My friend has done just that plus an akraprovic exhaust .This combined with the luggage he has fitted has transformed his standard tracer into a much better bike than the tracer gt actually is .we was both going for the gt ,as he already has a tracer and was going to upgrade and after test rides he and I are glad we did not commit to purchase .The gt is not a bad bike but it's not as good as we was led to believe it was going to be .The most evolving bike in this group to ride ,for me was the multistrada 950 Ducati but purchase price plus all the extras needed for it to make it work better for me really made is very costly.The triumphs are great but for me again a bit to top heavy and tall and certainly are better off Road than the others, I see them daily doing the triumph off road courses,they go out clean and return covered from head to toe in mud etc .I tried a BMW gs1200 ,just great but it's too big ,I tried to get on the new 800 BMW but once aboard I could not get off without a step ladder .Then shock horror the 800 BMW did not have that substantial look of its previous offerings .The side stand was so thin ,I think it would fail me in a short time as I would need it for mount/dismount etc . So each to there own as there's so much choice from engine sizes to configurations we have the lot these days .

      You have never been to a vehicle factory, they rev all the vehicles under load so they go bang there rather than later. Triumph take them to max torque, Ford Europe take cars to 60mph.

      Oh I know, I have a Versys and I've ridden the Tracer. The only saving grace to the Versys's looks is you don't have to look at it while you're riding it, the Versys handles incredibly well and is a blast in the twisties, which makes up for the looks. The Tracer is more equivalent to the Versys 1000. My next bike is probably going to be either a Tracer or a Versys 1000 SE, it will largely depend on whether I think the Versys is better enough than the Tracer to justify the price difference.

    Give it one year and that bike goes to shit. I have an fj09 nearly identicle in every way and i should have taken the hint when i was sent a checklist in the mail of problems to cross off. From false gears to computer display issues to detent spring issues, and also poor design as far as location of certain bolts. Also note that this bike seems to be extremely fragile in that the metal that is used is light weight and cheaply constructed. The chain adjuster is no longer flush mith the adjustment marks on the frame making it difficult to get a perfect measurement. You xannot access the air filter for cleaning without removing the outer fairings, cowling, and gas tank. I originally bout the bike because i thought it was next level. Yamaha didnt think of customers when they designed this style of bike. They went cheap, and built a cheap product. I cant use second gear at all now as it has issues with wanting to cut out all together and switch back to neutral, or sputter with sudden increase and decreases in throttle. The only thing that was worth it is the different riding modes, traction control, and abs, as well as various display options. But you can now find that on every other bike. Unless yamaha corrected all the issues on these newer models, i give this bike one year. Dont get sucked in like i did!

  • @earnestgriffin4838

    Rode it and not worth 13000 period. Brakes are soft too buzzy and as usual Yamaha crappy throttle response. Too over dramatic the bikes not all that seriously.
