Now that was a real treat from an ole Cowsills fan from way back when. Even without Bill and Barry and mom, these guys bang this classic out better than the original...still just as talented and entertaining as 1969 !
God bless this gifted and this talented band. My mother and father loved them. I do, too. Whenever I need a lift, I listen too them on you tube. Even better, I spin them on the turn table.
One of the most underrated talents of all time. Loved them then, loved them still and I'm old enough to have seen Elvis, The Who, Led Zepplin, Rolling Stones, Black Sabbath, Roy Orbison, 3 Dog Night, Deep Purple, et al. All of the GREATEST TALENTS of music that ever lived. Can't believe they've still got it !
The Rain the Park and Other Things/Hair locked into my Cerebral Creativity for anything I wanted to Achieve! Have Hair on a Single 45 RPM MGM LABEL Gold Swirl above a Blue Field from Memory DOB 1956!
I remember this tune, in the early spring of 1970. I was a lad of nine, in the third grade, and my father always gave me "crew cuts." I envied those who were allowed to wear their hair long. Well, I got my wish. Twenty years ago, my hair was so long, I could reach behind my back and touch it. It is still long, but not that long. Those were the days!
This song is bittersweet for me. I was about 10 years old when this song came out. The hippie look was all the rage. Psychedellic colors, fringed vests and purses. It was a fun time. Hippie Power was what America needed in the late Sixties. Young people wanted to unite and be heard. A lot of great songs that will always touch my heart. Ahhhh....to be young.
Been listening them since the 60s. What a fantastic family! Got to meet Bob, Susan and Paul in 2019 at a "meet and greet". Super talented family. Super nice people. True American icons.
@@deborahrowland4264 1969, I was 14 yrs old when "Hair" was a hit. My girlfriend and I loved the song. Love to return to 1969, and be a young teenager again.✌
I saw this when it was on PBS and it's GREAT! It's great to hear them sing it live and I love it just as much as when I first heard it 1969! The Cowsills rock!

I was seventeen or eighteen when Hair hit the airwaves. I look at little Susie differently now. She's very pretty. Don't know when they did this but they still have talent. Real talent. Most old groups embarrass themselves on stage. They took me back and the Cowsills did themselves proud.
Gaga at the Gogo..that's my favorite line of the song...saw hair on stage and man what a trip...those days will never come back...the 60's were insanely eventful and changed so many people's lives ...for the better and some for the worse....
I fell in love with Susan when I was 15 yrs. old, today I am 60. You should see some of her early t.v. shows. never seen a nine yr. old dance like that. still love her today!
Because they are. It's their message, their words, their (my) time. Having said that, 'my time' is just that, my time. They sound as good as they did back in the 1960's!!!!! Oh and "...GaGa at the GoGo" is from the original Broadway song. What a gift to see them again after all these years!
Great vid. I'm Susan's age and have had a thing for her since elementary school. Was fortunate enough to meet her about 10 years ago and be her guest at a Continental Drifters concert. She spent a lot of time she didn't have to talking to me before and after the show. What a fun babe! More a fan now than ever. All the best to her and hers.
I've been an oldies fan for 35 years, and only recently discovered how talented and versatile this group is/was. Unfortunately, only Bob, Paul, and Susan are still performing regularly as the Cowsills (John's the Beach Boys' drummer), and Bill and Barry are gone. But they are really something. Also, I love how they added a verse from the broadway show in this rendition which they did not use on the hit record.
Bob has such a great voice, and really pulls this off nicely. The harmonies are amazing. The only negative thing that I could possibly say is that I would have loved to have heard Bill sing this complete version of Hair. But what a great performance!
This is the version I used to listen to on the radio back in the day, before I saw the play -- 6 times...! I still love it, as I used to love it decades ago.
I love these fine people!!!! God Bless the Cowsill Family! I truly hope that music in this country and the world for that matter will get back to the innocent essence of the Cowsills! TY for posting this Bob!
This is sooooo groovy and totally far-out :) They sound just as great today as they did back in the 60's.... Saw them August 12 at INDIANA STATE FAIR!!! They were GREAT!!! However, I do not know who was with SUSAN!! I did not have a good seat in my wheel chair! I have had both hip surgeries in 10 months! I want to thank them for performing at the Happy Together tour.!!! You lifted my spirit!!!! Thanks again!!!!
Nesta Abbott Hi! It was Susan, Paul, and Bob at the WI state fair. Bob was on lead on the right end, Paul was in the middle, and Susan on the left. Thanks for your comment. I am still reeling from meeting them as I am loving watching all their performances and interviews on YT. Susan didn't say anything, Paul did all the talking...and don't ask me what he said...I was kind of freaking! I am so impressed with their talents, spirit, and professionalism. I was born in '63, so I wasn't too aware of much when they were popular, although my siblings are all 10-15 years older than me. My oldest brother has been a singer in bands as long as I can remember. I remember seeing him open up for Bobby Sherman in 1970 at Summerfest. And another brother and sister are singer songwriter performers. Plus they were all "hippies" at UW Madison when I was little. So I'm definitely feeling a bit of a kinship with the family. Susan is only 4 years older than me...and she blows me away too with her dancing, singing, and stage presence. And you being the youngest with 5 older brothers kind of know what I mean too. Two of the 6 in the band have passed...Billy, the oldest died of cancer (I believe) and Barry was lost in Hurricane Katrina. Very sad! Richard, who was never in the band, also died from cancer (I believe). So these three still perform as The Cowsills, and little adorable brother John, who is a super talented drummer and singer, has been performing with the Beach Boys for something like 10 years. I was also lucky to see him at a couple state fairs. Anyway, get on YT and have a blast reliving their past. I love the TV special they did. I think I might have watched it when I was little...I hope so! I hope your hips feel better. Maureen

Yes, this is great. A few years ago I stumbled on a band that Billy Cowsill formed in the 90's, the Blue Shadows. Excellent stuff. There are some videos here on You Tube of that band. They all have great voices still.
Absolutely the best performance. I still know a lot of the words, and it put such a smile on my face. I love them. They really are like family because I've been around since the beginning.
I'm going to see the Cowsills at the Morristown Theatre again this year in June I think. I absolutely love Susan and thanks for posting! I love you Susan!
The "Gaga at the go-go" verse was part of the original Broadway show. When the Cowsills recorded the song in 1969 they repeated the first verse in its place.
That is absolutely correct . I think it was too controversial for air play It would have caused too much for the parents of the kids like me to handle with their long hair.
Also, the lines " Jesus wore it Hallelujah, I adore it Mary loved him Why dont my mother love me..." These lines were taken out of orig tv performance of hair as they were too religious and powers that be didnt want to offend "christians". More power to The Cowsills!
These beautiful people are on the top of the "new" music as far as I'm concerned. I heard this great song a lot, from my fuzzy memory, on the AM radio at the age of three. I still love this song, especially the way they are singing it now in this video.
