Going out of your way leaving your shop to test the Alarm keys!!!!!!!!! Kudos to you for exhibiting top notch customer service, many establishments will refuse this kind of service for liability reasons but your middle eastern genuine customer services exhibited in this video speaks a million. Hats off and thank you for your outstanding customer service
Bro, I am addicted to watch your videos. Board repair was my ex job. Since I started watching you, I noticed that I miss those days. Your desire to fix things encourage me to fix boards again.I am in medical device repair field currently. Thank you!
Im currently learning from all his vids. How hard is it to get into this? Im fairly new to soldering and using multimeter aswell. Im 24 asking for a friend 😜
@@NorthridgeFix did you put back the two capacitors that you removed to try the original board? I have seen empty pads by the buttons on the replacement board
I've done a bit of keyfobs; I can recall a time where it was late in the day, I was tired, and had a similar case where the customer left the car in the parking lot. Tried several times, went back and fourth only to realize that I had been testing without the batteries; doh!
The NEC chip holds all the transponder pre-code data. Changing the chip over to another board is the best answer for a fix on a fault like that. That is an IR key and a new one likely is 500.00.
Do any job to get away from the workbench for 10mins. One of those donor boards was in such good/clean condition, it was always going to be best option. 👍 from me. 🇬🇧
So you can copy the data off the chip and write it to another key then go and steal the car after some months Hahaha.......... Wisdom will kill me one day
No. There is no way to 'copy the data'. They use a random hash function with a rolling bit cypher that only spits out codes on a need to know basis. The code changes every time you use the key so even if you somehow manage to steal it, it changes after every button press and the one you stole will no longer work. The only vulnrability these keys have is that it's easy to pick up and repeat the signal sort of like leaving a radio next to the owner to repeat his voice elsewhere to something that requires voice recognition. You can extend the signal by repeating it but you have to be physically right next to it or the person holding the key to do so.
