Rather than an "almond mom", she seems like an "olive oil mum", health conscious but not interested in overly restricting or demonizing food. I like the approach of eating nutrient dense meals, but also making room for chocolate and biscuits to go with her coffee. I'm currently working towards that kind of balance and it's very inspiring. Thank you, Lucie (and mum)! xx
It’s a similar mindset to the Scandinavian approach to eating and food in general. I was raised in a Scandinavian home and we ate full fat dairy products, home made müsli/granola, olive oil, homemade whole wheat bread, whole grain pasta/rice. Soup and salads for lunch and coffee breaks twice a day with something sweet sometimes (but more a few squares of dark chocolate and never more than 4 squares). Fish twice a week, lean meat, poultry and venison for protein and lts of legumes and vegan/vegetarian Us kids would only be allowed to have candy once a week on Saturdays. The thought is to be full and stay full on homemade meals with no empty calories. No diet products! No skipping meals ever to keep it even and also being taught early on that you eat for fuel and not mainly for taste. Bread is never removed, but it’s rye bread or whole wheat/grain and often with seeds and nuts in it. Fresh fruit and never dried fruit. Processed foods is a no in most Scandinavian homes.
Shout out to your awesome Mum, I'm over 40 and seeing a healthy, vibrant lady with elegant, understated beauty and no artificial anything... it's so welcome ❤
I had to replay n google this… The study found that chopping broccoli into small pieces before cooking it helped maintain its levels of sulforaphane, a phytochemical shown to protect you from cancer. Why? Chopping, thus creating more surface area, allows air to activate an enzyme that promotes the production of sulforaphane.
I love the videos featuring your mom as I am about her age and also in menopause. I always get great ideas from her recipes and healthy attitude towards food. Thanks for listening to your ( older ) subscribers and giving us more content for our stage of life. ❤❤❤
Don’t know about anyone else but must have watched this little video so many times. Every time I need a bit of a reminder of what proper healthy balanced eating looks like, I gravitate towards it. Just love it. This to me is the picture of health, balance, common sense and just sheer enjoyment of good food!
Love how slowly she cuts vegetables. Maybe it was for the video but I’m French too and I always take my time to cut and cook, which makes my own mother, who is German, quite crazy 😂 I grew up in France and I obviously picked up on this very slow life concept, I love watching it now, it’s very relaxing !
Abolument parfait , completement en ligne avec cette façon de manger ! A real healthy relationship with food with well balanced meals .. I grew up with this french culture and i am 49 years old living in UK for more than 20 years and still follow this way of eating ! Merci pour partager cela et surtout que cela aide les femmes á enfin se réconcilier avec la nourriture …
Absolutely love these videos! They are so relaxing. I think your own recipe book would be an amazing resource - not just individual recipes, but showing how to take that recipe and turn it into a balanced meal. Keep up the good work!
Such a good point to listen to your body. I was programmed to always eat breakfast growing up, to the point of forcing myself when I had no appetite. These days I’m trying to break that habit especially when there are studies about the positive effects of intermittent fasting. My natural response is to eat 16 hours from my last meal the night before, but sometimes it is sooner if I didn’t eat enough or exercised.
As a mother myself and health conscious but not over the top obsessive (I like wine and chocolate), I truly enjoy the down to earth approach and especially how fiber rich and vibrant these recipes are! Thank you for sharing!
I absolutely loved this video!! I want to come eat with your mom. The dishes she prepared look so good. Thanks to both of you for inspirational cooking ideas.❤😊
Your mum is wonderful. I love the simplicity of her cooking, yet each dish looks amazing and I know is very healthy. Yes please, let's see more of your mum! xxx
You mom is beautiful. I have always noticed that French women are very stylish and calorie and health conscious. They always look much younger than they are. Oh yes menopause what drove me nuts were the hot flashes and inability to sleep.😊
I love these videos. They are delightful to watch and quite helpful! Ive gotta say Ive personally cooked all the meals you’ve shown and they’ve become staples in my house - delicious, beautiful and balanced meals.
What a pleasure to see someone eating healthy food. So many people now eat just fried foods. eg fish and chips. The only item I would not eat is egg plant. I had some on a trip to Germany and thought it tasted like mothballs. Perhaps it was how they cooked it. Loved this video ❤
Wau, this is very inspirational. Your Mum is so sweet. I have been struggling with healthy eating, I start well, but later reach for some unhealthy snacks and this is video has helped me and inspired me :). THANK YOU!!!!
Love these videos! It is encouraging to see just how many vegetables she eats, nit in a week, but in a day. As an American, I can certainly incorporate this into my lifestyle. Thank you for sharing 😊❤
cut broccoli at least 30 minutes (at approximately at 4.44 in video) before using/cooking to get all the benefits of the sulfurates . . . do tell! have never heard of this before
Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful mother and a peek into her healthy and graceful life! I too am in menopause and have tried so hard to to find a balance where I do not feel deprived. Please continue to create more videos with your mother and I will continue to watch and admire :)
Really love the videos with your mum! What a healthy way of eating. Really great. Your mum looks fabulous! Would it please be possible to ask what products your mum uses on her skin? It looks radiant 🙏❤️
So healthy yet hearty and balanced and tasty.Fruits for desserts, little snacks in small quantities, veggies proteins, plenty of salads and veggies. This type of eating is why French women are rarely fat.
I have been so sick since April and tonight I went w/ inspiration from you. I made a meal with garlic, onion, potato, white beans, tomatoes and on the side a mix of rice with quinoa
I really enjoyed this video. Your mother is beautiful and what a great figure you both have. I love how simple and homey this video is. I was wondering if you both have always been vegetarian? My husband's parents are vegetarian. His dad is 90 and his mother is 83. Have a blessed day!
Thank you so much! I've been fully vegetarian for about 7 years, I was pescatarian for about 3 years before that! And she's been pescatarian for about 10 years I'd say
8:20 Do those massive tomatoes actually taste of anything? Here in the UK the larger the tomatoes the more bland they are (we have large tomatoes called beef tomatoes, but they look tiny compared to the irradiated tomatoes you have in the south of France). The best-tasting tomatoes imo are small ones like cherry tomatoes, baby tomatoes, plum tomatoes, etc.
Great video Lucie and Lucie's mum 🙂 I like the simple recipe ideas and French way of life you guys showed. Maybe you can also include for us some small clips of your day in between meals like what you get up to in Provence for another video. Awesome video, thanks for sharing ❤
It is great video and Idea to watch your mom cooking! Thank you so much for sharing it! It will be very useful to have recipes in comments or just a list of ingredients. Please please🙏🏻
According to this, it's just a legend that French women don't snack. By the way, in your opinion, what's the difference between dessert and a snack? Is it just the consumption time? What type of cookies does your mom have with coffee?
Your mom is around my age. I love seeing what a French mom eats.. I feel like here in the USA there is too much processed foods. I love salads, fish, a handfull of almonds and dark chocolate. (NOTE: expected to hear French music...too American for me.
Hi Lucie I am new 2 yr channel & enjoying yr Clip. French culture is very wholesome , Women seem to be healthy & enjoy life’s little pleasure. ( aka: cheese 🧀types ) . & yr mums Food choices r chef Worthy ☘️🇫🇷.
Very inspirational to see what a vegetarian woman of about my age eats! Love the idea of mixing whole wheat and white - for the rice I'm guessing you cook the brown rice for a while then add the white?
Also she had two coffees..( coffee suppresses hunger for those who did not know.) I drink coffee & it’s great for controlling your appetite .but I’ll have a snack or meal before hand since it gives you super hunger pangs if you don’t .
Hey Lucie, thank you for the videos and the effort you take to make them. I truly enjoy them. In one of the videos with your mum, she mentions she picks her vegetarian recipes for the week from some cookbooks. Would she mind sharing the names of some of these books?
Thats how I eat my toast and jam! But my bread is huge compared to hers as a women of a certain age 🤫I am taking notes. the way you make your salad has changed my life omg. ingridients in first and then put your salad and your salald looks so much better than mine.
Congratulations on the second home! Did your mom retire from teaching? I have been teaching for 27 years and will retire (God willing) soon! I'm looking into possible relocation...south of France! Still checking out locations. Love your beautiful mom's way of eating. I'm 57 and struggling with keeping the weight in check. I tend to snack too much. I will follow along for these two days. Question about the rice: Brown takes much longer to cook...so how to cook them together? Great idea, btw! Keep the WIEIAD with mom...or just you...coming!
Yes the snacking is a hard one but you have to stop and let your body get hungry! I had to stop doing this too 3 meals no snacking a little piece of chocolate or fruit only one piece small!
Thank you! She still has 2-3 years to go and then she'll move there full time. And yesss south of france is so great for retirement!! For the snacking I would try increasing your meal portions and giving yourself one or two set times to snack to stop snacking all the time! ☺
Hello! About the rice... My guess is that if it's instant rice, they are all made to cook in minutes, so there shouldn't be any time difference between brown and white rice to be ready. Have a good day!
Salut Lucie, Great video! I love these types of videos, and it's wonderful to see your mom supporting your channel. I have a few questions, if you don't mind. Firstly, I'm curious about how many calories a day she consumes (approximately). The portion sizes seem small, but as a good French lady, it seems she doesn't shy away from incorporating fats into her diet. Additionally, I'm wondering if she gets enough protein and calcium. As you here currently there is an emphasis on protein intake. Another question I have is whether she indulges in pastries, cakes, or wine during the week, or if these are reserved for special occasions. Lastly, I'm curious about her water intake throughout the day. Thank you!
So glad you liked the video! She doesn't count her calories and it also varies throughout the week, she does have some wine on the weekend or for special occasions, as well as pastries etc. She drinks a lot of water, it's her main beverage, and yes I think she gets enough protein and calcium :) Thanks for watching!

That's the way I see it too! Thank you!
You nailed it with this comment!
fully agree with this comment, couldn't have said it any better :)

I adore your Mom. I wish she would start her own channel. She is a joy. Please include her more often in yours. 🌸🍃🌸
Shout out to your awesome Mum, I'm over 40 and seeing a healthy, vibrant lady with elegant, understated beauty and no artificial anything... it's so welcome ❤

I had no idea what she was talking about - thank you so much for adding this detail! I love broccoli and will be cutting it "early" from now on
This sounds ridiculous
Your mom is so beautiful and so gracious to allow us this peek into her days ❤.
I love the videos featuring your mom as I am about her age and also in menopause. I always get great ideas from her recipes and healthy attitude towards food. Thanks for listening to your ( older ) subscribers and giving us more content for our stage of life. ❤❤❤
Funny how reasonable eating has become so rare. Seems like a nature video, French woman in her natural habitat! Bravo en tout cas🎉
I love this video. It teaches us how life can be simplified but still taste awesome. And I love the provence, i wish I can buy home there one day.
So glad you enjoyed the video! And yes, such a great goal!

Thank you, it is realistic and a doable way of eating. Please thank your mom for making the time to share it with us.
I absolutely loved this video!! I want to come eat with your mom. The dishes she prepared look so good. Thanks to both of you for inspirational cooking ideas.❤😊

Intuitive eating. I’m practicing that now and I’ve noticed my snacking has dropped off significantly. I’m 57.

I hope that by now your mom has a chef's knife at the second home! All the cooking that she does and she has only a paring knife. I feel for her. ;D
I couldn’t quite catch what your Mom said about the broccoli? Could you tell us? Love your content!!!!
@@SmileeenWow I never knew that! You guys are darling!
Do you have any advice for eating in menopause? It seems like the weight comes on easily and doesn’t budge? How do French women handle eating around that? Do they alter their diets in peri or post menopause?
et franchement je voudrais aussi bien faire la cuisine pour vous 😄😄 je pourrais modifier les plats que je fais régulièrement végétariens ahah
Do marriages last better in France than in many other countries?.. or how do french women have time for all the beauty work, taking care of themselves, cooking fresh food everyday etc? Or do many of them have an extremely good, well-paying work place where they can do short workdays? Certainly I don't mean to offend, I admire and envy this life style!
I think that our divorce rate is only a little better than in the US. We don't spend as much time grooming as women in the States, in my opinion (I've lived in both places). We do less makeup, less nails, less hair, etc. Our work days are long, but we have more vacation time and better boundaries with set lunch hours for example.
In the US, they strive for perfection; here, we embrace imperfection and enhance what nature has given us.
Beautiful periwinkle blue jumper! Where did you get that? Can I purchase one still or is it an old season’s item?
Votre mère est très belle ! Elle ressemble beaucoup à Isabelle Huppert, je trouve. 😊
It gave me some ideas, thanks!
1:32 Strange looking cheddar cheese. It's orange. Why's it orange? Colour-wise it looks more like red Leicester (pronounced: Lester) than cheddar.
