  • This week's episode will show us cutting up our brand new Nissan Z to install the new SOHO Motorsports front mount intakes! These intakes will help draw cold air into the engine from the bumper, instead of the hot engine bay. The Z is almost set up and ready for FL2K, can't wait to get some runs in and collect data with all the great parts from our friends.

    the way you shot flames on the dyno looks so sick!

    I know my replies a bit late, but even though the intake size may be a little smaller, IAT's should be better with them being routed outside the engine bay. I'd think that alone would make SOHO's intakes worth it. At least over exposed filters in the bay... Clean Z and looks like y'all are getting it done..

      Thanks for the question! In a turbo car, it doesn’t matter where the air is being drawn from, it still has to go through the hot turbos and then into the intercooler(s). We generally don’t see a huge difference in charge air temps (after intercooler) in datalogs between front mount or factory location intakes, even if IAT (pre intercooler) is a little cooler. HOWEVER, they do sound cool, and for most, that alone is enough to justify them!

    Frankly I’m intrigued how so many people push the Z turbos and motors granted it’s a V3 refined Vr30 but still aren’t the turbos prone to go ? Or they are different than the stock Qs ? PS SOHO need to drop that A2A :/

      I have one of the earliest build VR30 redsport, car sees 20psi daily and i have almost 80k miles. Original belt, trans, turbos, motor etc. Just take care of them and you’ll be fine

      There were like a 175k turbo Qs made, yes there are failures but what is the actual percentage of total cars. Maintenance is key for these for sure. I had no issues with the turbos on my 2017 and now have a Z.

    Nissan needed to put larger turbo's on the z. Why use a 9 speed trans and keep all the power down low?

    • @goracebox
      @goracebox  11 месяцев назад +1

      Nah we just upgrade the turbos ourselves 🫡
