How about a 12" length of plastic pipe split length ways or even some pipe insulation to put on the barbed wire fence before you cross it. I find it great for saving rips in both skin and clothing. Super Video as per norm Pete. Best hawk videos on the Internet.
Thanks appreciate the encouraging comment, I seem to remember you mentioned this idea before and I did try it, I will get another piece of insulation, yep I like that.
Amazing to watch woody hunting from the soar. We’re yet to see our HH do this, although I think it’s a little flat in Norfolk for her to get much updraft. Another great video 🤙
Great to see u all out and getting something mainly squrels so far for me and luna but she been at 2 4 .4 to 2.6 well over weight for rabbits on the land we are on bed snow or a good frost mine nos to be more active into dusk and wer she has caught b4 be intresting with woody on a new bit of land Wel documented Weather Bathing food wat food changes weight attitude completly true loyal bird well manned that whistle is food Good walk out fly the bird be natural 😊❤❤
Good to hear your are out hunting with Luna, thanks for watching and commenting , always enjoy reading what others are up too. I hope you have a good rest of season with Luna.
That looks like almost ideal terrain for pheasant or rabbit, I'm envious. Can I ask, on your days out, how long are you 'flying' for? A couple of hours? Cheers.
@@kennypryde4235 Thank you. Yes a couple hours no longer normally unless we have to track the hawk down, Sometimes 1 hour if all goes well. The ground can be good but alot of work throughout the week to get game at some point. Good luck,
Good video, thank you. May I ask if you could possibly explain the reason for Woody's weight going up. I'm new to this additionally English is not my first language. You said that the weight increase is not muscle, but some other reason- that I can't understand. I would be grateful if you could explain. All the best
Yes I can, I meant the flying weight to get a good response, instantly returning to the glove on calling back. now he has some fat reserves of more than 8weeks ago, Plus 1 ounce and returns well. 8 weeks ago 1 lb 8 to return well and now 1lb 9 plus. to return well. this is because of manning and daily hunting, the hawk is calm and feels relaxed due to repartition. so weight can be put up by feeding more . But now I will observe him each day if keenness declines the weight will be reduced slightly. I would imagine we will increase again as time goes on. also muscle will increase weight but mainly this is probably fat reserve. I hope this makes sense.
@@freebirdofreason1994 Thank you for your kind advice. This happened with our 2 years old HH. When we bought him in July he was flying at 690 gram (advice from previous owner). Now his best performance is at 730 gram (he got his first rabbit on this).I was thinking his muscles are growing, but this is only 4 months so as you said it may be due to his confidence as we are flying him every flyable day.
Looks like woody had a good work out today
But persistence paid off
Good day out for you and woody and willow
👍
Absolutely, thanks and enjoy your weekend.
Nice one Pete. Incredibly steady that hawk even when your dog is sniffing around his kill. Thanks again Pete great video 😊
Thanks yes a very steady hawk, thanks and have a great weekend.
