Thanks for this video. I am about to order and install a new fuel pump for my samurai. The installation was very helpful. I never would have thought about pushing in that engine rod that makes the fuel pump work.
Good luck. It seems easy enough but sometimes it doesn't work on the first try. Make sure to keep the pump level as you attach it so the rod doesnt go over the push part of the pump.
Lot's of good tips, I know nothing about Samurai's, didn't even realize it had a mechanical fuel pump. And also, rear brake cylinders and wheel studs... that's a couple more items off of the ole checklist. Another informative Vid, Thanks Doug. In other news....Cal needs window latches for his tin-top rear side glass. 🌵😎
Thanks. Ya slowly learning about samurais and realizing I prefer trackers. I had to use a window latch last week but I think I have one left. I will try to remember to look.
@daviddavenport4766 do you have the hose inhooked.from the carburetor to verify? Also the pump must go in as straight as possible otherwise the rod can slip above the pump lever. The contact patch is pretty small.

I concur, O'reilly fuel pump does not fit. Good video. Thanks.
Hopefully others will find out before they spend the money on a pump that won't work.
Hey
I just installed a brand new one on mine and its leaking out the bottom back
I have heard that sometimes it takes a couple tries for it to seat correctly
Thank you I have put 3 import direct on my samauri still no fuel.
Unfortunately those ones just don't fit. I used one I got from Napa and had no issues
@@trashpandaoffroad3548 okay I installed a carter fuel pump and same thing no fuel. ??

@@trashpandaoffroad3548 I’ll recheck it and reply back
Good info. Did you try to find out why O'Reillys is wrong?
The guys said that they looked into it and did say that I wasn't the first person to return it for that reason, but that's all they found.
