    Things not to do.
    1. Kill a bb and say gg like it was a fair fight
    2. Accept a 1v1 and invite your friend or group to help you, and don’t ambush them while they’re waiting for you to get to area.
3.Don’t do all the things I just mention and call the person a puss.
    4. Don’t be a puss meaning don’t do all the things I just listed for you.
You be surprised on how many people are like this in this game.

    • @Tacobellcramps
      @Tacobellcramps Год назад +21

I only spend my marks on skins if I’m worried I’m going to be killed/die for some reason. Since you lose a huge chunk of your marks, I’d rather risk spending my marks on a skin then die and lose hundreds too over a thousand marks.
It’s best to only spend on abilities, but on official, I tend to spend on skins faster than community. 😅

    Love this video!
The Beginner Tips I always have is:
    1. Grow a Small Dino first
Yes this is boring but the reason why the Game default starts players as Campto, Deinonychus/Laten is because they are fast, easily fed & hydrated, and very survivable.
These dinos will teach you the game.
    A. How to Move
    B. How to Quest
    C. The layout of the Map
    D. The Flow of Life and Death
    2. Chose Natural color skins
When you create a dino, try to stick to browns, greens, and grays.
As you grow in experience you can change it up, but while learning a dino and the game having nature colors wi allow you to blend in with the foliage making you very difficult to spot.
This is a serious life saver.
    3.Don't trust anyone
    Never Accept anything random.
Do not accept random out of the blue group invites or Waystone invites.
Group invites can/will show your position on the map. Many jerks use this to track you, and since they are a teammate they make you "think" they are friendly.
    Waystones (Simple covered this)
Additionally, if someone in Global ever says: "[Area Name] is safe."
    Assume the opposite.
Assume the worst of everyone you see. Do not let them get close, do not accept group invites, do not accept waystones.
    When in a Group:
    A. Do not rest with attack range of your teammates.
    B. Do not "Tell" your team you are hurt/resting.
    C. Do not turn your back on your teammates.
    4. Stay Away from Hotspots & Heating Up Spots
Pay attention to Global Chat and look up the abbreviations for areas.
This way when you see players mention areas and the chaos going on in them you can avoid it or get out of the area before it gets too dangerous.
    5. Abandon your Quests
    If you:
    A. Get a quest that is particularly hard/dangerous/will take too long for your dino to complete.
    B. The area you are questing is FULL of danger / you are outnumbered / you see/hear a major threat coming.
    Skip/Abort it (leave the area
The death penalty outclasses what you've missed out of by skipping/aborting the Quest.
    Example (from Gondwa):
Deliver 5 Flowers in Snake Alley
If you are something that swigs slow then this quest means 10 swims across a river with a VERY high chance of having an adult Semi-Aquatic in it.
If you cannot dive under the water to "scout" then it's not worth completing.
    Waystone Quest
It is OK to sit on this quest.
Depending on where you spawn, this quest will most likely be a death sentence.
Either make this the very first quest you complete or save it for a time when no one is around.
Waystones are often meeting spots, and you will get killed if you just roll on up and touch the Waystone.
Quests are everywhere. No quest is worth your life.
    6. Noise
Simply covered most of this but as an addendum.
NEVER tell other players what dino or stage of growth you are.
While it is fun to roar and be a little baby shit, running around makes noise, talking makes noise. Make too much and you will get your group killed or injured.
Rain cloaks footstep noise. Use rainstorms to evade / hide / sneak away from deadly encounters.
Additionally, picking up quest items MAKES NOISE. So if you see a threat you are wary of or know you're being hunted do not pick up anything. Simply hide in silence.
    Crouching
For dinos who can crouch this + slowly moving forward will reduce your sound to near nothing.
    7. Eating & Drinking
Never drink from a deep water edge.
Look for rocks, logs, or very shallow stretches to drink from.
The distance and shallows between you and the water may just save your life.

🙄 If you don't want to die every 5 - 10 minutes and lose progress then you have to be overly cautious and not trust other players.
Seeing as it's a Survival game that "kind of" wants player to act like animals. When was the last time you see a wild animal trust anything?
They are skittish for a reason.
I personally learned the group betrayals the hard way.
The problem with official having no rules for abusing grouping and waystones is that it makes tips like mine a necessity for survival.
Although, if they turned off friendly fire for groups that would kill alot of the grouping mechanic abuse.
But until that day comes you cannot lower your guard, ever.
I once went from almost sub-adult to 2 bars into Adolescence because I trusted people.
And I see it happen all the time now.

      Oh....you're some bored troll.
      Ok asshole...I'll feed you.
You obviously must have a problem with me sharing tips on how not to get backstabbed by scumbags such as yourself.
      I'll spell it out.
There is no "Telling the difference" when someone doing the friendly dance only to attack the moment they get close or you turn your back.
Sinply even pointed that out in the fucking video you didn't bother to watch.
      2. The whole point of this video is to help newbies not fall prey to your ilk and make other bad starting decisions.
Common Sense in gaming is that acceptig random invites of ANY kind is a lesson is stupidity and you get what you deserve if you accept them.
But, new players fall prey to it in this game.
Sitting in a Home Cave and watching Global chat is all anyone needs to do to start seeing Instances of that.
Sorry that I have (who the hell even knows how many will even see my comment) given away your easy kill crutch.

One thing I found very helpful is that when you’re a baby and you see a potential threat in the distance, then crouch and find a nearby bush to hide in.
Crouching quiets your footsteps, and the bushes will completely conceal you if you’re a baby, or if you’re a small dino. If you’re bigger in size, then being in the bushes is still better than being out in the open.
Hiding in the bushes is also good if you want to lay down and recover health and/or stamina without being seen.

  • @iceluna5795
    @iceluna5795 Год назад +15

If you're a baby dino, you can hide in critter burrows.
Simply crouch and slowly walk in through the entrance where critters come out. To get out, simply go out the way you came in. If going forward doesn't work, turn around, use percise movement, and walk backwards.
BEWARE: You won't be able to fit into critter burrows / may get stuck inside them once you reach a certain size. For small creatures, this'll be around late adolescent to sub. For mid tiers such as concavenator, this'll be around late juvenile. And for the bigger creatures such as sucho and rex, they can't fit in a burrow at all after reaching juvenile.
The best part is that non-baby players can't fit in burrows, AND digging out the critter doesn't boot you out of the burrow

100% agree on the not choosing an apex, and not trusting anyone, even (in fact especially not) your own species.
Any herbivores wandering about without a care looking like a tasty snack, beware, chances are if they’re being overly cocky or aggressive, if you engage, you’ll get broadsided by something way scarier that was waiting for you to take the bait.
Good thing about the meadow is you’re guaranteed 3 quests (though still need to be cautious of people camping at the bee hive tree or sarcos under the lakeweed), nearby food and water, plenty of visibility, and a few places to take cover to avoid being seen, whereas spined lizard lagoon very often has quest points guarded by large herds and very often becomes a bloodbath.
Never assume just because you’re small, no threat and minding your own business that you’re safe either, you’re just as likely to be stamped on by a ceratopsian as swallowed by a Rex.

Personally heres my favorite questing spots for Gondwa (Keep in mind, my first dino to grow adult is Sarcosuchus so... This roster might have a little disadvantage to some)
    Hunters Thicket
    Red Island
    Snake Gully (hunting herbivores)
    Sharptooth Marsh
    Rockfall Hill

  • @xievisthedragon
    @xievisthedragon Год назад

1 call till banned from community server. Check.
    Start in impact crater, check.
Ignore all invites, even those from real friends, check.
Grow 8 hour modded Argentinosaurus first, check.
Log out in bushes, there is no home cave on my community server xD - check
    Serious note.
I don't use calls, ever, even after I murder someone's face in. Even though a roar establishes dominance.
I found some areas of the map that are pretty hit or miss at the moment. Sometimes I see no one all day, sometimes there are roaming gank duos looking for new / solo players. I have no friends on this game, so I just ignore invites right now. I don't see any real need to group up, unless I start playing herbivores. The server I play on is Semi Realism. So group restrictions for carnis is pretty tight. Funny enough first thing I grew was a spinosuarus. I love that dino. My favorite thing from ARK. Oddly enough I saw no other players while I grew it (server was always 100+ players). I am enjoying the mid tier dinos more though. Slow ones are so painful for maneuverability.
If I had to give a tip as a new player. Find a good community server to play on. With rules. Then get to know the other people on that server, most of them you will see very often. You could make some cool friends along the way. The game is a lot more fun with just 1 other person in your team.

Hotspots in Gondwa, based on my observation, are Crater, Green Valley, Hunter's Thicket (common baby spawn), and Big Quill Lake. Avoid those if you want to have a chill experience in raising a dino.

My tips in POT for beginners is first do your settings controls etc makes game play more easy and your style. When I first got the game I wasn't a big fan of the painfuly slow growth on officials so i switched to some beginniner friendly community servs and it did help asking around if I didn't know how to do something like accept a ws.
For combat I usually go with EoTriceratops or the Ano. Sometimes rex but it feels to much of a cliché to pick the strongest. I often play as stego or dasp as well.
For being a solo player I'd go with allosaurus or EoTriceratops. Maybe thallasodromos if you wanna explore and travel a little more easy ig but collision and low asf stats is thallasodromos downfall.
If you want to explore the water maybe be a aquatic. Go with spino and maybe sarco or sucho the kai is just lonely af to play as.
Some community servs might also have commands like to tp yourself to certain areas or give yourself marks and others or promote someone.
Simply has already made a vid on admin commands

Hi new player and funny you mention not trusting anyone I was lucky and got one who saved me for no reason, I was walking around doing quest, and past by a river where a carnivore just attack me and right beside me just so happen to be a full on adult herbivore, who just came to my aid like a boss. Mind you I was a t rex who was still a child he had no reason to do what he did, and just went in and saved me scaring off the predator and just protecting this helpless baby t rex.
Like literally getting between me and the predator, roaring and stomping, to get him to leave after that saved I just followed him around for a bit, he killed some of the small creatures in burros for me when I was hungry, and even help me do some of my quest, I felt like I was playing some kind of family dinosaur movie scene, cause as we go up a hill a smaller herbivore comes up and hang around with us for a bit

This game is a dinosaur role playing experience at heart, they just gave it more typical game mechanics to attract a wider audience. The point of it is to just be a dinosaur - not to beat it or achieve anything necessarily.
As they continue to add in-game content I expect more role playing options, not more objectives
