That is AWESOME my friend! Great Neil collection. You go me so fired up about it that I am going to have to take a closer look at my own Neil collection lol!
Excellent collection. Neil Young is extremely inspiring, definitely one of the greatest! Tonight's the Night is such an amazing album, one of his best for sure.
Yeah, I got tickets for the April 24th show at Lincoln Center, NYC, so keep the N.Y videos coming. I never saw him live before and Love the new Le Noise, your video is getting me psyched!
@McStooge99 They are from Ikea. They sell those shelves in different sizes. They're called expedit. Very reasonably priced too. Great shelves I think. Some people have said they don't do well with all the weight of vinyl but I've had no problem so far. Thanks for watching.
@EoLoVoX Thanks- I'm really glad I bought them all. I reached a point where I had to complete it. I got a bunch before they really went up in value- Sleeps With Angels, Mirror Ball are two that come to mind. Haha, no mine does as well. Neil did some interesting things with his album art in the 70's- some cool little details.Tonight's the Night, Stars and Bars, and On the Beach are good examples of that. Thanks for watching and commenting!
OMG! I thought I was looking at my own NY collection! I have 2 copies of EACH Neil album. It's good to know that I'm not the only won. I love to play Times Fades Away and dance around the room! Thanks for posting!
Very impressive. I noticed you're missing Neil Young and the Bluenotes. I also have a red triangle shaped 331/3 RPM single of Southern Pacific (MONO) backed with Motor City. My copy of Time Fades Away, which I bought new back in the late 70's luckily came with two lyric sheets. I'm going to my 13th Neil show in a few weeks in Providence (first one was Rust Never Sleeps tour). Great video. I had forgotten about "Don't Spook the Horse" until you reminded me. Just listened to it.
No, I bought them all individually. I'm not the biggest fan of 180 Gram, so other than that and the box, same thing, and it was cheaper. Thanks for watching!
Haha, thanks man.Yeah, Neil is my musical hero... love the man. Seen him live 17 times. Hope to see him many more times. I'd say any singer with a unique voice gets a lot of criticism, but I love Neil voice. It's very emotionally expressive. Thanks Zach!
Sorry for my very late reply! I've never checked out Drive By Truckers though they've been recommended to me a number times. I'll look up that track for sure. I listen to a lot of stuff- Psych, Punk/Post Punk, Folk, Jazz, Krautrock, experimental/avant garde. Check out some of my other videos. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Great. When you add in the bootlegs, cassettes, and CDs this could take 3 hours. Add in CSN and Richie and we're talking all day! Thank God for putting these guys in my lifetime.
Holy impressive Neil collection, Batman! The only Neil vinyl I have is the 180 gram Archives box set, a questionable pressing of Zuma (sounds like the 90's CD), Le Noise, and the 2-lp Buffalo Springfield collection.
@LongLostLPMan Thanks man- personally I think each one has merit and each one needs to be examined based on how it stands up by itself as well as looking back down at the man's life and career. He likes to refer to them as paintings on the wall and when he looks at one it reflects where he was at during that time. That works because each one is so different- truly. Neil has never made the same album twice- that's quite a feat! Fork in the Road and Landing on Water- are two I'm not crazy about.
@MrFartboy79 I guess I missed it the first time. The Rust show was my first concert ever and it was at the Providence Civic Center in September of 1978 (beginning of my H.S. senior year). I got 3rd row seats from a scalper for $20 each. I'll look for you at the PPAC in a few weeks.
@davecon61 I have This Notes For You-check out 7:13 minutes in. I'm going to the Providence show as well- I can't friggin' wait! Say Hi if you see me. Hope Neil changes up the set a bit. VERY jealous of the Rust show- I wasn't born yet, not till a few months later :) Thanks for watching!
I've got most NY albums on cd but found your video very inspiring, infact today scooped up a copy of ATGR & El Dorado - any advice, pitfalls you wished you avoided? Congrats btw.
Hey, very cool... I'm glad you found the video inspiring! You picked up Eldorado on ATGR on CD or LP? As far as collecting Neil, not many pitfalls... I set out to get originals of all his albums (studio and live albums) on vinyl. Doing so took some time, patience and some expense (his 90's albums tend to be rarer and expensive... though I bought many before the prices skyrocketed) but it was worth it IMO. It all went rather smoothly and generally no complaints regarding various pressings. Just do a little homework to see what some albums sell for to avoid overpaying. None of Neil's 70's records are rare so don't pay too much. Anyway, thanks for watching and commenting! Good luck!
who else do you listen to? ever listened to any Drive By Truckers especially the tracks by Patterson Hood, he reminds me alot of Neil. "I used to be a Cop" is great..
@mrhoffame thanks a lot man- he's got so much stuff! I'd say make sure you have the essentials first (and there are a lot of those in my opinion!) some of which I know you have: Neil Young, Everybody Knows This is Nowhere, After The Gold Rush, Harvest, Time Fades Away, Tonight's the Night, On the Beach, Rust Never Sleeps, Trans, Freedom, Ragged Glory, Le Noise- I might also thrown in Sleeps With Angels and Zuma as essential as well lol, so many great albums! Watch it, the Neil Bug is infectious!
Amazing Collection! I saw my "missing links" El Dorado and Lucky Thirteen in a shop in my street last week. Both for 90 bucks each. Too much for me. I've got them on CD at least. And I've got a strage copy of Rust never sleeps. Looks like the normal copy but on the cover there's a picture of neil standing. Never found about this. I don't know if it's official. Maybe a bootleg? Maybe someone here knows something about it.
You've got a lot,but I've got more.I have lots of bootlegs in good condition. I almost got every single (7'),play beautiful in a jukebox!So I'm also a Neil-addict. Ever since 1972.
@bubbajk Well, that's up to you... I paid about $60 more for Eldorado and about $30 more for Lucky 13. Both usually sell for more on-line, sometimes less. I've seen Eldorado sell for about $500.! which is insane, but sell it did! Nice Greendale collection, looks like your a completist, I'd consider buying those because you may never see them again- especially Eldorado. Only 5000 of those were pressed like 22 years ago. I'm sure which ever ones are left will become much more scarce.
What do you think sounds better? An original copy in good condition or the reissues? I just got into vinyl and have my mom's original EKTIN and it sounds amazing but really want the others. Just wondering if the new copies sound better than the originals.
great video. got me motivated to fill in a few of the years I ignored or left to cd. next time include how much you paid for each. the more you spent, the better I feel about what I've been paying. any thoughts on the bootlegs (the live shows on vinyl like chicago or the european reissues of unplugged, dead man, etc.? with prices so crazy I want to give them a try.
Zerodirt666 Thanks, glad you enjoyed! There were only a few I paid dearly for. Luckily I was able to get a lot of these new and/or before the price of some of his vinyl skyrocketed. I paid for Dead Man... but thankfully nowhere near what it goes for now! Eldorado cost a bit. I can't speak to any of the pirate pressings of the official albums (Dead Man, Unplugged, etc.) because I never heard them. I got all these awhile before those boots showed up. I do have the Live In Chicago and that sounds good to me. Well worth getting. The Crazy Horse in San Francisco too. I may get around to doing an updated version of this video sometime as I have a bunch more Neil stuff to show. Also, I do plan on making another Neil Young related video very soon... I'm thinking tomorrow hopefully. Anyway, thanks again for watching and commenting. Cheers.
I must say, they all sound amazing, but the one with the most difference, compared to other pressings, is the first... it sounds fantastic. I think you should buy Everybody Knows though, seeing as you need a better copy, right? Killer!
Hey so sorry, I thought I replied to this... it depends on the album... the first album definitely sounds better on reissue. EKTIN sounds better on original, I think.... the first pressing. Overall though, the reissues do sound amazing and are worth getting for sure.
That's one fantastic collection of Neil Young albums! I've got several of them myself, tapering off with some of the 80s albums. Really impressive collection! Does your copy of American Stars & Bars have a printed inner sleeve? If so, does it have what looks like black marker in a ring where the label would be? My copy does, yet I can't decide of the previous owner did it or if it came like that.
my wife got me time fades away for christmas and im pretty sure my mom got me psychedelic pill on vinyl...and this past october i saw neil and crazy horse for the first time. first time i could find him in OK since i dont know when. just had to tell someone who would understand my excitement. vinyl rules.
@mrhoffame Also, if you're into reading about musicians and you wanna gain a whole new respect for, and understanding of Neil Young, I HIGHLY recommend you read the book Shakey by Jimmy McDonough, which might be one of the greatest rock bios written and I'm not just saying that as a Neil fanatic. It is really well written, fascinating, and entertaining as hell. This book will really give you insight into Neil, his career, and the understanding that the man is truly an artist in every sense.
@MrFartboy79 Oh no. You mean I should have bought them?! I think they are still at the shop. btw. That is my Greendale Collection: bit "dot" ly/dEV5yR (Sorry. RUclips doesn't accept real links. You have to replace the "dot")
I'm listening to my copy right now. Yeah, it needs a replacement. Too much surface noise for my standards. DOWN BY THE RIVER, I SHOT MY BABY. I haven't listened to it in so long. Great frickin' stuff!
@bubbajk Wow! Really? $90 US? That's actually a STEAL! I wish I paid that for those albums! Thanks for watching man- you should really think about doing some videos! I'd love to see your stuff.
Tks a NEILlion for sharing such treasures!
Keep on Rockin in the NEIL world!!
Very impressive! You have the best Shakey collection I have yet to see. My last NY show was Indy 2019 2nd row.
Yeah, I got tickets for the April 24th show at Lincoln Center, NYC, so keep the N.Y videos coming. I never saw him live before and Love the new Le Noise, your video is getting me psyched!

Fantastic collection.I haven't so far picked up much Neil on vinyl but last week I picked up an original of On The Beach.
No, I bought them all individually. I'm not the biggest fan of 180 Gram, so other than that and the box, same thing, and it was cheaper. Thanks for watching!

Lots of envy for that Sleeps WIth Angels. It's my #1 Neil and currently my #1 vinyl want.
Yeah, so many of his 90’s albums are tough to find on vinyl. I’m sure it’ll see a reissue soon.
Holy impressive Neil collection, Batman! The only Neil vinyl I have is the 180 gram Archives box set, a questionable pressing of Zuma (sounds like the 90's CD), Le Noise, and the 2-lp Buffalo Springfield collection.
@polderpoet you should make a video showing them all. Thanks for watching!
Yeah, have them all. I'm a Neil fanatic for sure... seeing him live for the 18th time in December.
@LongLostLPMan Thanks man- personally I think each one has merit and each one needs to be examined based on how it stands up by itself as well as looking back down at the man's life and career. great neil young vinyl collection.
Thanks for watching ! It’s gotten bigger since this. Neil puts out a lot of material. Cheers
You have the best complete Neil Young Collection .I'm Looking to one day get Eldorado when my funds get right.
I'm gonna have to pick one up then. Id be nice to hear a pristine record sourced from the original masters.
You have, "Are You Passionate," and Harvest Moon! Are the archive series sourced from the original analog tapes?
I've got most NY albums on cd but found your video very inspiring, infact today scooped up a copy of ATGR & El Dorado - any advice, pitfalls you wished you avoided? Congrats btw.

@EarlofSuave308 Yeah! You'll love it! Just remember my advice! Make sure you give us a full report as only you can do! 8-)

Did you get the neil young official release series vinyl box?
Yeah, definitely from the original tapes... that was a selling point. Neil is a nut when it comes to sound quality.
Hey so sorry, I thought I replied to this... it depends on the album... the first album definitely sounds better on reissue. EKTIN sounds better on original, I think.... the first pressing. Overall though, the reissues do sound amazing and are worth getting for sure.

@bubbajk Wow! No, I've never seen this before. Very odd. I'm sure its rare- hold on to that!
Haha, thanks Man!
@MrFartboy79 That's one of my my Rust Never Sleeps Pressings. Do you know something about this one? /bit "dot" ly/hKLPJb
@bubbajk Wow! Really? $90 US? That's actually a STEAL! I wish I paid that for those albums! Thanks for watching man- you should really think about doing some videos! I'd love to see your stuff.
