    Thank you to all of you who are new viewers and to everyone who follows me for helping me to reach 6000 subscribers! This is a longer video, so feel free to skip ahead to minute 16:30 if you want to see the resin pour without the full tutorial.
    My Amazon Shop: www.amazon.com...
    I wanted to see if I could create a resin geode with only two colors since most of my geodes are pretty wild and busy. I was going for simple and elegant. I am SO happy with how it turned out. And I found out that you can indeed use only two colors and still end up with your piece being wild and busy! Ha ha! But I do think that it turned out beautifully.
    As always, I would love for you to follow me on Facebook and Instagram as "The Frugal Resinista." You can ask me questions and see what I am up to and what I have for sale. Thanks so much for watching!
    This was my first piece on MDF board. I've heard some not so great things about it, but I think that the thickness that I purchased (3/4 in) combined with the primer/sealer seemed to keep it from warping at all.
    Materials used and where to find them:
    -Resin: www.stonecoatc... or amzn.to/2XiL4jv or amzn.to/2U6HsyR
    -Glue gun: amzn.to/2EwqxAp
    -Hot glue sticks: amzn.to/2XmSt17
    -MDF Board: Local hardware store. Not worth the cost to ship!
    -Glass filler: amzn.to/2tFUAPO and amzn.to/2H328Eg and amzn.to/2Xr0imH
    -Crystals: amzn.to/2Ey1UUg and amzn.to/2Fz9FbO
    -Acrylic paints: amzn.to/2H0uJdr
    -Enamel paints: amzn.to/2XlASGQ
    -Gloves: amzn.to/2XknByi
    -Stir sticks: amzn.to/2Suv3U4
    -Blowtorch and fuel: amzn.to/2BRJtrR and amzn.to/2XqfErd
    -Cups: amzn.to/2BMO5zp
    -Acrylic pens: amzn.to/2TCwXm1
    -Drill and Accessories: amzn.to/2H2Lfd5 -THIS IS ON SALE!!!
    I have included some items in value packs to get more for your money and have also created my list exclusively from internet resources to give international viewers the opportunity to use the same products. Please Note: I am now affiliated with Amazon to bring you my list of favorite products in an easy and convenient way. I receive a very small commission from your purchases if you use my links and I appreciate that so much. It helps me purchase my own resin to continue to share my videos with you! But I encourage you to shop wherever will save you the most money where you are. Thank you!
    Thank you to bensound.com for the music!

    When I remove the tape from my resin pieces, I use a heat gun to remove it. I don't heat it for long - just enough to soften the tape glue

    • @thefrugalresinista
      @thefrugalresinista  5 лет назад

      Thanks for the tip! I do too but for some reason, this time it almost seemed like it made the tape stickier! I must have done something wrong.

    I absolutely love your work... unfortunately in Australia we dont have the awesome and cheap art supply stores you guys have in the States so frugal isn't a word we can use here. However I am so inspired by your work. I fully intend to try and do something like this. Would you consider doing a black and white geode. My son and his partner have just decorated in these colors and I would love to see how you would put that color combo together before I mess it up. Thanks so much for sharing your talent with us.

      @thefrugalresinista  5 лет назад

      Thanks so much! I unfortunately don't know of an alternative. It's a bummer. You could look at a less expensive resin from Lowe's. You would just need really good ventilation or a respirator.

    MDF board is awesome!! We use it all the time for countertops and backsplashes, trays etc... Your work is beautiful!! 😆💕
    Oh as for the tape with the MDF... We have been using masking tape (it sticks to the MDF) and then electrical tape over that to give it more strength when you pull it off. Then if that fails... heat gun it 🤪😆

      You are so nice! Thank you for watching again and again! I don't know what I like better yet. The wood is heavy and harder/bulkier to move around but the canvas really sags if you don't work hard to prevent it. I'm going to do some more wood and see how it goes.

    hello what type of resin should be used for a geode art ? I have a low viscosity resin but everything mixes up I think I didn t choose the resin well thank you :)

    • @thefrugalresinista
      @thefrugalresinista  4 года назад

      It depends on what you like. I like to use a resin that cures fast so that my colors don't mix together too much. Typically, I do Stonecoat Countertop's quick coat (about 15 min. working time): amzn.to/3hH6uAG or Total Boat fast curing resin (about 5 min. working time), but you have to be REALLY quick to do that kind!: amzn.to/31Hs5n3
