I have always believed that beer and working on my bike was an essential part of everything working out! Thanks for this info it was super easy to follow and I still have half a beer left. Cheers!
I have my first bike with a fob and I seen someone make a post about the battery and until then I've never even thought twice about it so now I'm going to keep some on the bike.
Do you have to re-program the fob or just swap the battery out and get to riding? I’m fixing to take my first Harley trip & I want to swap out the batteries on my key fobs. So thats why I’m asking & I don’t wanna screw anything up. This will be my first ever swapping out a Harley key fob battery. I’ve done car ones & with Ford I had to re-program it thats why I ask.
How long does the first battery last? In approx lengths. Mine is just over 4 years old and now it seams to be arguing with me. I'm guessing its the key fob, though I've never seen that it says the battery is low.
To keep your fob looking nice and not all dinged up go the a guitar shop and buy a Fender Heavy pick. It does not mar the surfaces just force the tip in to the sides on both side to get it to pop up.
I had to practically destroy the FOB case in order to pry it open. I hang it on my belt loop and it gets exposed to sunlight a lot, so that is maybe why. I don't have baggy pockets, though--hence the belt loop option.
I destroyed mine getting it open. Nickle plastic scraper. Never had a key fob that hard to open in my life. I have my spare but the battery is dead. Don’t wanna destroy that one also
Good job ... keep making these videos. Also what is the brand Helmet on the shelf behind you in this video. I'm looking to upgrade to helmet and intercom system.
Apparently these fobs are waterproof because I accidentally washed mine & dried it & it don’t seem to have hurt it all, I was pleasantly surprised because I know it would have been HD HIGH DOLLA’!
I rewired my entire hand controls on my harley. Why, you may ask . I put the battery on my key fob the wrong way . Talk about feeding like a complete idiot. I had never put a 3v battery with the flat facing down always with the flat facing up . That was my mistake 😅😅😅😅 when installing 5 new batteries on my fob.
I despise HD. They charged me a huge fee for supposedly ensuring my used Road King Special was 'Certified pre-owned' ... every little thing like bulbs and the Key FOB failed within six months of my purchase. I hate these expensive cheap bastards... I'll never step foot in a big HD dealership again.
Using a coin as he suggested is not the best way to open these. The edges of the coin rip up the plastic. I find a flat blade screw driver is the least damaging device to crack them open.

Good pointer! I got a few 2.5 mm dunlops always sitting around
Can this prevent a bike to charge
Positive down?
Hi, I have problem with harley davidson 883 key fob won't connect after battery replacement
Did you find out why ? Mine takes about 4 minutes to start, im wondering if its the FOB battery.
Nice!!!! 1 beer👍

HIGH DOLLA’!
The plastic on mine is all screwed up trying to pry it open.
I bet the fork lock key would work great in that little slot. IJS
who sells those batteries
Most any stores.. got mine at Walmart
Looks like the positive side was up. Mine has to be down.
You forgot the clear plastic cover on + side of battery that must be taken off.
I have stripped the fob trying to open the damn thing
MODELO Beer Cabrones, good for you
So I don’t need to get it reprogrammed, that was my main concern to be honest

mine fucking cracked trying to open it
🤦
cheap garbage plastic. $70 for one. chewed the crap out of the plastic before it popped

@@beer1for2break3fast4 i used a flat screw driver 1st. Coin worked better
@@beer1for2break3fast4 , yep, mutilated mine getting it open. Owned many vehicles with fobs and never an issue until this Harley pos fob
You spent two minutes explaining what you culd use to open the fob. I guess it's for the US audience?
