I did and apprenticeship back in the 80's, it was 15th regs then!..... I actually went on to do a degree and become an electrical engineer which I did for 10 years, but i did not like office work, so I came back to sparking...I have been a self employed electrician for 12 years now and dont regret any of it..... As you can see once you have a trade you have it for life regardless of your future circumstance.... some good advice there:)
thanks for the help, im 15 and turning 16 in november and hoping to get an apprenticeship as an electrician when i leave school because i know i will enjoy it and when im older i want to make good money so thank you for the video
@Darin King My dad is a Electrician and hes making 645 a day (off-shore) once he comes back in he can choose wether he wants to stay in or not and make 55 dollars an hour.. I plan on becoming one and I have companys who would hire me right away( maybe because of my dad)
i'm just watching these around, since i'm applying for an electrician's apprentice all around, and got someone interested already. hope it pays off and he's willing to take me on with it, heh.
If you can try and get an apprenticeship with pharmaceutical company or state company there the best mostly. Contact all the good reonised companys. Usually 4-5 years.
Currently a college student and have changed my mind about what I wanted to do before I got too far into debt. This looks very interesting to me! It sounds like mostly you just try to get an apprenticeship somewhere, is there not much schooling needed or any?
@BlackGold691 Most companies will give you a work car once you are a bit more confident, before then if you can grt to the workshop every morning it shoildnt be a problem.
Very nice video! It's really helpful and informative,There are two types of electrician resident or commercial work. It will be important to join a field you are interested in and enjoy. This could be a career you are in for the rest of your life and you need to make sure you enjoy it!
i am thinking od doing this stuff.. i have never studied this soo i really dont know where to start! i came from another country in EU and they said that i need to gcse first and get good grades.
is it safe to plug in 12 AWG extension chord into a 15 amp outlet only to power up devices that are normally plugged into 15 amp outlets? the extension chord would be connected to an apc
Thanks bro..I think I'm going to go to a school not too far from my house that teaches CNC programming, milling and the lathe..kinda pricey though, $12,000
exactly, you just have to land an apprenticeship with a company that will sponsor you...OR (what im currently doing) become an electrical trainee...kinda the same thing as an apprentice but you go at your own pace rather than schedueled schooling like the apprentices do...only down fall is that trainees have to pay for their own school and apprentices are sponsored and get it paid for...you do the EXACT same work and learn the EXACT same shit...apprentices make more though by a few bucks
been in the trade since 1986. I make more than most of my friends including one thats a dentist. Great trade if you do it right and above all PRICE jobs right. No need for discounting or free estimates.
Is dis a good career?! And how do u make the big bucks in this field? IN YOUR BEST OPINION! and dont give me no cliche crap like "its watever u make of it." I need to know the cold hard facts about this field ASAP! im 19 and lost in this world
holly smokes !! $12,000 what are the chances you will get a job at the end of it ? I'm from Scotland. I have only worked on lathes a little bit in schools, testing them.
Yes. Most electricians in the states are either high or drunk on the job. Not the union guys though. Also remember the phrase "case a beer" and say it whenever another trade asks you to hurry up or do something for them even if it is contract work. A real electrician doesn't hesitate to dick over the other trades. Also remember the fire alarm guys and data guys are better and smarter than you.
Yeah..I had worked just for a bit on lathes and mills many years ago. Not to say that I know how to work on one, so that's why I'm thinking of getting some training..and yeah man that's perdy steep isn't it?..That's why I'm second-guessing it. Also, I'm looking online to see how much CNC programmers get paid and they start off at $10-13 an hour...I just think it's this country going to shitter lol
After watching this video,I decided to take a fеw mіnutеs and tеll you that I hаd found it absolutely fantastic .Very good way you explained "how to become an electrician".Fabulous work
I was a kid when started, 1 year before leaving school, 37 years later am still in the trade. Must be pretty good at what I do, else would not have lasted so long, disagree with your comment regarding Adult leaner's v kids.!!
My dream is be one eletrician in Canada,New Zeland ,Austrália etc... but i don't understand, here in Brazil to make one course of electrician of houses and buildings we make only 4 months of course and in this countries 4 years! why?
i know im jumping into your conversation with someone else...but i HIGHLY doubt he takes home 3gs a week...in central california, Journeymen make between 25-30 bucks an hour...thats around 900-1000 a week for a normal 40 hour work week...and im speaking from a non-union stance...just saying, dont get all giddy and make any brash decisions...let me know if you want more info.
NEVER choose to become an electrician in USA where are serious fluctuation in the volume of work, therefore, expect to be un-employed 3 months a year on average. The pay is medium-low but consider that the employer's request in terms of delivery time has been sliced in half in less than 6 years. Compared to any other developed country, the electrical trade is not an option to consider in US. Never. (Electrician and electrical contractor for more than 20 years)
ive been looking at tradequalified.co.uk, anybody use these before? they offer a course which comprises of, (Inspection Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations City & Guilds 2391),The 17th Edition, City & Guilds 2382, PAT - City & Guilds 2377, (Domestic Installer Certificate - Full Scope for Part P certification),Essential Electrics - CITB, Appointed Persons First Aid Health and Safety Executive, CSCS Site Safety Card, is this worth doing will it allow me to work for my self?
Where I'm from i had to go to college for 11hours two days a week in first year then in second 1 day for 11 hours , I'm from northern Ireland btw , then the pay is pathetic , I could get more working in McDonald's or other easy jobs , there's much more but I can't be bothered saying
yes in Alberta, Canada it is. Ibew 424 Electricians make $50+ an hour. and it pays weekly Thursday $1849 to $2500. $2500 when the economy is good though.
My dream is be one eletrician in Canada,New Zeland ,Austrália etc... but i don't understand, here in Brazil to make one course of electrician of houses and buildings we make only 4 months studing and training (1 and half year as one technician ) and in this countries 4 years! why?
+Gui Ariel (A-380) it's actually 4 years up here too! 1500 hours to progress into the next year, and school is 4 years but only 2 months at a time and 3 months for a 4th year!
tim sim i'd like to take some informations with you about standars eletrical in Canada i pretend leave my land coming soon,so is possible you send-me your e-mail?it is very important to me,to clear many doubts and information, have a nice day thank you!
Oh ya, No better time to be an Electrician and yet there all going to Oz/Canada how ironic? I love how these house basher's think there the bread and butter and thats fine in one picture. Get into the Commercial&Industrial sector if you want a good Trade, You can easly go back into domestic later if you like. Or better try for a company that does all, Don't end up a one trick pony and stuck in the one sector. Commerical is a good alrounder.
HAHA man my friend is a handyman and he had some milf "pay" him in the bedroom. But then one day some gay dude tried to do the same and it was totes awks. hahah.
I did and apprenticeship back in the 80's, it was 15th regs then!..... thanks for the help, im 15 and turning 16 in november and hoping to get an apprenticeship as an electrician when i leave school because i know i will enjoy it and when im older i want to make good money so thank you for the video

Haha, I changed my mind..as teenagers tend to do..
I'm now half and half; probably not going to go through with it as I'm suck in what I want to do😑

Thanks bro..I think I'm going to go to a school not too far from my house that teaches CNC programming, milling and the lathe..kinda pricey though, $12,000
@BIGDADDYDUKE2 Electricians start at about 14$ on the first year and after avout 5 years you should be making between 34-38$ an hour
Get a loan, do a 17th Edition, Part P and inspection and testing course. Takes about 2-3 months then you can go and start work
exactly, you just have to land an apprenticeship with a company that will sponsor you...OR (what im currently doing) become an electrical trainee...kinda the same thing as an apprentice but you go at your own pace rather than schedueled schooling like the apprentices do...only down fall is that trainees have to pay for their own school and apprentices are sponsored and get it paid for...you do the EXACT same work and learn the EXACT same shit...apprentices make more though by a few bucks
as long as you do your job well.
Great Video Guys...I'm an electrician also...
been in the trade since 1986. I make more than most of my friends including one thats a dentist. Great trade if you do it right and above all PRICE jobs right. No need for discounting or free estimates.
