There's a N64 homebrew tool you can load on an Everdrive (I'm not sure if all models can do it but the X7 definitely can) to back up saves through the transfer pak. It's not very convenient but if you already have all the hardware it saves you the cost of a dedicated dumper.
Dumpers would be cheaper if you don't already own a ever drive. An ever drive just for the PCB alone can set you back $100-$300 and typical dumper is like $30-$60
as someone like me who was only passionate about Pokemon back then but it's interested in tech it's very cool to see this process docummented. I'm sure there'll be an unofficial way to transfer games to gen 7 at some point but I'm wishing you the best in getting all of these godspeed
@@TheA_Gamer554 There are some pieces of software online that require something like EZFLASH or EVERDRIVE. I’m planning on going through the journey of transferring the stadium prizes and rby trade mons to pokemon home. But man you took it a dozen steps further by getting the trades from the JP games too! (And the mews from your second vid) I’m impressed!
GREAT CONTENT!!! I'm surprised you didn't include the YOSHIRA/B mews to this. There must have been a couple more event mews back then, if I'm not mistaken. If not all of them, both yoshir versions are available online inside sav files and you can simply trade them using original hardware after you load said saves.
Instead of using a coverage move in Thunderbolt, what if you went with Substitute? In Stadium, Substitute was buffed to block status moves. Hyperbeam was nerfed to require a recharge no matter what and explosion/self-destruct will always cause the user to faint. Since there are no dark types in Gen 1, you don't have to worry about Psychic not working. So you should be able to just Substitute, Amnesia, Recover if needed, and then sweep with Psychic when you are done boosting with Amnesia. Another thing to note: Aerodactyl's base speed is the same as Mewtwo, so in theory, if you are able to get a Mewtwo with 15 speed DV's (Gen 1/2's version of IV's) and max out its Speed Stat Exp (Gen 1/2's version of EV's), you should be able to force a speed tie if the Aerodactyl also has 15 Speed DV's and maxed out Speed Stat Exp, causing a 50/50 chance for Mewtwo to go first. One more thing to note, Pokemon transferred by poke transporter actually do not have a fixed nature. It is actually based on how much exp they have, specifically the last two digits. For example, if the last two digits of a pokemon's exp are 10, 35, 60, or 84, they will always have a timid nature.
is there something special about the gen 1 pokemon that you would want them directly from gen 1 and not other gen pokemon games where the pokemon are the same?
I did this with a Stadium Kabuto last year Also just to clear up some mis information pokemon transfer/bank isn't region locked so if you're already going through the effort to to cfw your 3ds if you install the Japanese versions of the pokemon virtual consoles they will work as well no Pkhex needed
I'd love to do this myself but my childhood versions of the games have been sold when I was still young :,) I have blue, yellow and midori in cartridge form as well as red on my 3DSXL which is modded but I am short of a Transfer Pak for Stadium 1.
@@robmalcolm8042 VC games actually contain the real ROMs which can be dumped and extracted, provided you have a modded 3DS. Funny your comment reaches me now too because I bought a cartridge dumper for N64 games and modern N64 emulators can actually load compatible GameBoy ROMs along with its save data. It won't be the same but I could use my team in Stadium 1, unlock Surfer Pikachu and carry it over as long as Home still works.
Helpful to know Surf Pika and Psyduck won't be legal with those moves, doing this process myself right now. I will say, towards the end you mentioned PKHex for the JP Pkmn - I got my JP Pkmn to move via Transporter and Home by uploading the saves to Homebrewed downloads of Green, Red, Blue, Yellow, etc - and Transporter and bank allowed it to go through to Moon without issue, no Hexing required.
For breeding more Eevees etc, why not transfer it to gen 2 using time capsule or the PC in Stadium 2, and then back again? Also Blue has Porygon for a lot cheaper. Region changing a 3DS is not difficult, though you might not even have to. I have not tried to use PokeMover but most Japanese games run just fine on my US 3DS since it's hacked. Some need LumaLocaleSwitcher, some don't.
Great video! I had just gone through the painful process of getting the Stadium Prize-mons into Home. Didn't know that you could get the distributed Mews from 1st gen transferred up to SV, did the 8F glitch last summer. Going to try and get one of the original Toysrus Mews transferred up as I had one as a child. Subbed and can't wait to watch your future videos!
@@ElectroBlastLuigi that's kinda the point though lol, there's several whole pokemon communities based around going completely out of your way to hunt down cool and rare mons that don't really serve a purpose other than being trophies. I myself used a glitch in a Japanese copy of Ruby to steal an NPC trainer's shiny Relicanth, and now it's on its way to becoming a ribbon master. It serves no purpose and was a major pain to get and transfer up to later generations, but it's super cool that it's even possible to begin with tldr because I hear the nerd emojis incoming: its cool to do this if you care, but if you don't, then... just don't do it. hacking is more accessible than it's ever been, just look at the automated twitch stream pokegenning services

If you do this with Gen 2, Farfetch'd gets blocked because PokeTransporter doesn't like the apostrophe.

Given Nintendo is reluctant to provide any support for previous consoles there is zero reason to assume this.

The name of that japanese trade ninetails is rather apt, because in japanese ’Aka’ Means red (赤)。So it makes sense considering its fire type.

Really great vid, super informative and well written!
You could also use a gba rom dumping tool for Wii homebrew with a gba to GameCube adapter to dump the rom and/or save file.
Natures on gen 1 and 2 Pokémon are determined by the total experience gained when transferred.
Also the dotrio speed is best used in gen 2 after getting shiny ditto to pump out eggs at rapid rate

Ok, so only a hacked 3DS staying in my Way to preserve my Pokemon.
Wait? When will Pokemon Bank end?! OO
Awesome job, it would have been easier to catch the safari zone Pokemon on Red/Blue using the old man glitch though

Virtual console games can still act as real cartridges or are they just pure emulation?

How much would this whole set up cost? Lol

Answer to video title: Not legitimately possible. You need to hack your 3DS to be able to do this.
