  • The city of Tampa's vision for historic streetcars is changing.
The idea that tourists would be the ones using the streetcar system to get around is shifting in a modern, commuter-centered direction.
The state is stepping up to help fund a $234 million expansion of Tampa's streetcar, with the Florida Department of Transportation contributing $67 million for new tracks into Tampa Heights and a new fleet of modern-looking streetcars.

They need to expand the service. In terms of Transit, Tampa is so far behind other major cities in the south.

Uh, no. The line literally just needs more tracks. You don't have to fix what isn't broken, the old trams are fine, they don't need to be replaced with a modern tram to go on such a snort line. Sometimes I don't like you people.

Make it cheaper and uses electrical for people to go work daily and other places and less wait time and it should go everywhere in Tampa or all over Florida until 1am make good facility inside for older and disable people to seat. Also add 24 hrs. 7 days bullet trains see how Europe has best public transport.

I dont want these streetcars to go, I want the modern ones to run side by side with them, getting rid of them would be disrespecting history and heritage, screw the people demanding for modern transit! Even if they do get rid of them, they better end up at a museum or something to be preserved or another place to run

All the people who construct the new rail, the businesses who profit from tourism, the businesses who have employees that want to live near by, those who would like to decrease their carbon foot print, The new businesses that will pop up along the new 1.7 stretch of rail, the people that are employed to develop buildings along the new 1.7 mile stretch, the Florida Aquarium, the cruise terminals which the rail passes right by, that bring in over a million tourist and passengers every year. Literally everyone makes money or saves money off this, weather directly or indirectly it will trickle down helping all of those who live in Tampa. It might be a little costly but definitely worth it if you want to see Tampa to continue to grow.
