I played Winter Wind every day for 30 days

We've all had teachers who tell us to not just play through a piece but to really focus on each section and work through things methodically.
But sometimes that's a tall order when you're having a long day or losing motivation for the instrument. The thought of having to really work and focus can be draining in and of itself. So is it possible to learn piano by playing through something once a day, even if it's unfocused? Is inefficient playing better than no playing whatsoever? I decided to put that to the test in the 30 day challenge.
However, it wouldn't make sense for me to work through a beginner method book this way since I'm already competent at playing the piano. So instead, I chose something that would be challenging for me to learn normally, and is a piece that I'd like to learn at some point but don't feel particularly motivated to grind at the current moment to approximate someone who wants to learn piano enough that they're willing to play but is not motivated enough to grind.
Enter Chopin's Op. 25 No. 11, Winter Wind; a piece that you guys want to hear me play, a piece that I would like to get to at some point to complete my run through of all the Your Lie in April classical pieces, but a piece that I don't feel any particular desire to learn at the current moment. Checks off all the boxes.
Sure, it ended up not being a straight 30 days, but I completed all 30 play throughs in less than 2 months, so I'll say it counts. And along the way, I had every reason to not practice, from wanting to eat dinner to traveling to getting sick to personal life issues. Seems legit.
So how did it go? I guess you'll see in the video.
And of course, despite whatever conclusion you may draw from my video, I as a teacher wouldn't recommend you practicing this way, but I will say (and have said) that at least playing some is better than playing none, provided that you're not actively doing anything destructive towards yourself or the instrument when you play.
And yes I'm doing ok, yes I've been watching too much IDAT, no this channel is not dead yet. Thanks for asking :)

Side note: Personally I think it's more interesting to watch my hair grow day by day than to listen to me practice, but maybe that's just me.
Everybody talking about the intro and the length of the video, but nobody's talking about the outro and the dive Miku took at the end
Honestly I actually enjoyed the whole length of the video, but I can see that for some ppl. (That have tiny tiktok attentions spans) this is too long. Would be interesting to know how long you practiced (in hours)
I watched up to 24:36 just look at the rest of it lol
@@aaalbeert According to the audio file I have, around 4 hours and 20 minutes no joke
@@WattKeys lmao
,.,.,5.
Winter Wind is hip with the kids these days. This is bound to blow up
Not really, 20 minutes of practicing is not that exciting to watch
Well I was recommended this
@FrodosBeutel you were correct it hasn't blown up
😂😂😂😂😂
As a certified Watt listener, I can say listening to you practice while watching your hair grow as well as all your other content is interesting
Glad you are showing at your high level that it takes a long time to work through a piece like this. This piece can’t be whipped into shape quickly. Thank you!
I think this was a great video, I enjoyed the little introduction but I think the best part of this video is at the beginning you were playing the Etude quite slow, It really goes to show how even though these are etudes they are still musically difficult. Great job!

I like the subtitled kind of videos, and honestly? Really liked the idea for the intro/outro. You improved a lot in 30 days, and surely played it better than 99% of the human population. Keep it up!
You deserve a thousands moreeeeee of views. Enjoyed it!!
i just figured out the "Hey Watt's up everybody" joke and I'm so proud of myself
Hey man, I found you're chanel just a few weeks ago and you already helped me improve, even tho I'm an intermediate player already, so pls keep feeding the chanel
i started learning this piece around 2 weeks ago. its nice to see the learning process and learning curve of other people than myself :) great video
I’ve been listening to your recording of the revolutionary etude a lot lately. (On iTunes). I’ve been playing the revolutionary etude for…. two years lol. Winter Wind is another piece that I hope I can eventually learn!
i’m addicted to your voice 😂 extraordinary
I am playing the tempest right now but soon I’m going to start the etude. I’ve never came across your RUclips but you’re the one few that I can watch a whole long video of practicing. It motivated me!! Thank you :) new sub!! 🙌
I liked the process of learning this piece, how u show the process to the people, bcause some people thinks the speed its all, but u show this process is slow and exhausting. Nice video and i loved the poster of your lie in april in the background ;)
I am one of the subs that don't really watch every video and I gotta say the idea and title are good but like another person said a 25 minute practice video is not exactly entertaining to watch in it's entirety unless you actually care to learn the piece yourself and you wanna see the progression or something.
That said, its still good content and I appreciating longer videos like this that take more effort than a 20 second meme video.
I just don't expect it to blow up. Might be wrong tho. The youtube algorithm works in mysterious ways
Wind can be particularly valuable during the winter season when natural gas demand is high-as a direct heating fuel in homes and businesses and as a source for power generation.
I trust Bing
I have been practicing it nearly every day for a while now (since finishing double 3rds, which I did after jeux d'eau, which I did after not playing piano since high school, nearly half my life ago)
obsessive over enunciation, and experimenting with alternatives as exercises (also it kinda can sound cool )
Damn you deserve more views fr
Awesome progress already, Keep practicing!
I'm definitely all for nekuzo-chan
I'm trying to learn this song on a 61-key keyboard, without a teacher... Faith
10:21 shhhhhhhhh....we don't talk about that
Loved the way you arranged this video 😂🔥
"On day one, I played the first two measures"
He just like me fr!
Horowitz once said that after a few pages of this etude his fingers felt as though they were ready to fall off.
You rizzed me up with your hair cut❤
Goteem
No need to talk bad about yourself, imao you did really well and pulled through with the challenge
The intro is enormously funny
Your videos are awesome and very useful
Also speedwagon is best waifu
With the YLiA art in the background. Seems like I wasn't the only one inspired to practice Winter Wind because of YLiA. Difference is I gave up after two days...
I really need to improve my sight reading, learning pieces would be so much easier. I can only take things one measure at a time for individual hands then put them together, all while looking at my hands too often 😅
sameeeeee
algorythim just gave to me
You did good in 30 days 😎🤩
this one isn't as annoying to learn as wrong note etude at least for me (gave up on that one lol)
13:56 Relatable af
What do you think about learning a piece backwards by starting at the end and going progressively to the start?
I think you'd have to start a few measures before the end so that you can play going forwards at least a bit since playing all the notes backwards essentially makes it a different piece.
Jokes aside, I think it's a good idea especially if 1) the piece has a very difficult ending so you spend more time letting it sink into your fingers (think Chopin ballades) or 2) if you have a tendency to keep playing parts that you already know, so starting from the end might help with motivating you to keep learning since the starting points won't be as nice as starting from the beginning.
I personally learn this way sometimes, and I frequently work through things that I know the notes for this way so that I stay engaged and don't just end up playing straight through every time because that can be tempting, so the opposite of this video XD
I just started learning piano 6 months ago and I’m learning pretty quick but I absolutely suck at sight reading. Any tips for how to get better at sight reading? I’m willing to learn more advanced music theory if that will help.
The main advice I give is to learn to recognize 1 or 2 notes for each clef, then base the rest of the notes off of them by the interval. So instead of seeing a note as a "B", it would be "the note that's a third up from G", which helps also with your hand recognizing the shapes of certain intervals.
Unfortunately the rest of it just comes down to practice cuz it is a bit like learning to read a new language. What might be helpful is sightreading pieces that are comfortably within your skill level, so that you only have to focus on reading and not how to play as well
Imagine how cool if the video would've gone on for 4 more seconds. xD
Don't mind me I'm just here to help with the algorithm!!!
It’s possible to learn anything if you have the mental capacity and work ethic to achieve it.
Is Day 4 sightreading? :O
3K LIKES AND ILL POST A VIDEO OF ME PLAYING LA CAMPANELLA FOR 100 DAYS.

Risque 🤣🤣🤣
Did it work? Did the gun show bring more subs?
I was trying to see if I recognized any anime shirts 😂
This video gave me an idea, and maybe I'll start when we are done with school for the year. But I thought I could try to learn to play a piece, just a few notes to start, then add more on every day.
Also, are you ok? Did I miss the part where you said what the MRI was for?
Seems like it's working lol
I don't think I specified, the MRI was for my migraines. It came back clear so I'm fine
@@WattKeys oooo, I get them too. I do plenty of coffee, water, and salt, because medicine is not always helpful 🙄
I haven’t seen anyone do this on an actual piano and want to know if this is possible so I ask you to play this part from one of camellia’s song #1f1e33 (Another long “”#ant1p01e”” version) on minute 5:04 there’s these piano notes I’d love to hear on an actual piano is there any way you can try that? =^-^=
I'm a sunscriber who doesn't watch everything. I liked this though. Maybe go back to it and really learn it - show us your drills, process etc.
👍
I did a thing vibes
Bro really fired at Winter(tv) 😭
Content idea:
Breakdance on the piano (will Definitely boost ur subs)
ikr can't believe he be doin me like that
New title, how fast he grew his hair back 😂
nice fumo
Yamaha c3 gang
Yuhuu viral clickbaity content 🤪🤪🤪
it didnt blow up
making content about having no content
Just make piano covers of popular music in top 50 spotify or something like that, that sure will bring you views
Think economically, look at this channel as a tool to generate money and not just only pursue your hobby.
so your a classical pianist and you still after all the years of playing not able to play this
i want to play this at the future since ive benn playing for 2 eayrs (selftaught)
but gess this will be just a dream that i won't achive
