Seriously, she went from being an under-the-radar Disney star with 4 albums that didnt do much in terms of numbers to then receiving an egregious amount of hate and death threats over some petty relationship triangle drama to NOW HAVING 2 GLOBAL #1 SINGLES AND PEOPLE SCREAMING THE LYRICS TO HER SONGS ALL AROUND THE WORLD!! That is truly spectacular! She's really had that main pop girl status potential for a while now, and I couldnt be more happier that people (including me cause I hopped on the train late too LMFAO) are FINALLY starting to realize that! 😊
Honestly, I think between the patience and the hard work was also a matter of timing. Sabrina always felt either right ahead or slightly behind but now she’s right on time! I’m genuinely glad she’s gotten her justice though. The lopsided hate she got during 2021 was just… not it. Re: being late (which happened to me), better late than never!!!
I think all of Sabrina’s albums are incredible and I think her success is well deserved. I just strongly resent the fact that she got a lot of hate before her album release and new found success. She didn’t deserve that.
I’m sure the same people that probably bashed her online are now blasting her album and calling themselves fans. So glad I’m a lot older and missed that whole Disney drama. Never even heard of Sabrina until Espresso but I already find her pretty amazing as an artist.
Sabrina also has the underdog arc that started after she was treated badly during driver's license period which takes an artist so far. And her personality is amazing. She witty and quick to replt in a humorous way

I think it’s really the trends. Feather in particularly did well as well as Espresso so PPP had to sound similar-ish. Though on Emails she has a few songs where she gets to be as vocally strong.

I think she really found herself authentically with the emails album. When she was rolling out the Singular Act albums, I've always felt some of the songs were forced despite a couple of them being fairly successful singles (the Saweetie collab, Diamonds Are Forever, Sue Me song, Almost Love, last two I heard on the radio a lot during its time) and she was trying to fit into what other pop acts were doing.

I think without that public splat, she AND Olivia may never have gotten this chance to have these career bumps and rise to their current height of pop fame.

I need you to do a deep dive of emails i can’t send. It’s honestly one of the best pop albums of this decade and the way she named the deluxe version “emails i can’t send fwd:” is just so unserious yet so clever at the same time. Definitely a no-skip album
THUG is one of my favourite books so I was BEYOND gagged to find out she was in the adaptation. But it also shows a lot of her unexpected charm since despite Hailey being a thoroughly unlikeable character, she just brings the character some life that makes her somehow easier to like. She has a really subtle IT factor.
wow - its crazy how a "rebrand" combined with a matching song sound is KEY - she blew up with this new pink pop princess look and it FLEW - her blonde playful look really made a difference, just goes to show how important the brand and look of a singer is for commercial success
I think the aesthetic change def helped but the timing of the music for sure was a key. She was already making fun sounding pop right as we pivoted back into it.

In my opinion that feature really changed her reputation from a Disney singer into a proper pop singer as she absolutely nailed the pitch and lyrics. I think it was by far her most popular song at that time and by far her most popular song on RUclips and still her second on Spotify.

I’m the same age as Sabrina, and I’ve been listening to her since I was 15 when I found “Eyes Wide Open“ on RUclips! It really is cool to see Espresso make her such a viral phenomenon, and she so deserves it for her really exceptional vocal talent and overall aesthetic! Island probably will, but it’s down to respective management. I think Sabrina’s team (with some new players involved) will do well, Chappell’s clearly overwhelmed but thriving (saw a video of her being shook while performing at the size of her crowd.
For a long time I think Sabrina just wasn't the "look" the music industry wanted to push. I think it was more so Doja Cat and Ice Spice. But Ice Spice failed to make an impression and then T-Swift took Sabrina under her wing instead. Like clockwork. That seemed to stick more. (Tyla is also the look / genre they're trying to push but she's promising so she is likely here to stay.) Granted some people were still walking past Sabrina during her opening sets, but I think her current label is actually doing their job and pushing her, and that helped make Espresso go viral. Utilizing TikTok also helped because that's how everything goes viral. just lots of viral tracks with short lifespans.

Here's how long i've been following Sabrina Carpenter. I remember when she was the voice of Princess Vivian in the Disney Junior Series Sofia The First, my little sister use to watch that show when she was little. So i've seen Sabrina's growth for a long time.
I've only known her since 2022 because of randomly getting her mv of because i liked a boy recommended and then checking out her album eics out afterwards. I wasn't completely in the loop when the driver's licence stuff happened but after getting to know her story, i have been rooting for the this woman ever since. She's been working hard for so long and the first time she got mainstream attention in recent years, it was because everyone was painting her out to be as a homewrecker and olivia's worst enemy and sending her so much hate, it's amazing to me that she managed to handle all of that with the grace that she did even tho she had every right to be pissed off. Now in 2024, it seems like the world is finally catching up to what many carpenters knew since her early days, what i knew in 2022 when i first saw her mv and heard her gorgeous voice; Sabrina Carpenter is a star. So glad She's beginning to get her flowers.

About skin, I wouldn't say it *isn't* a disstrack entirely, however i definitely wouldn't say it's a disstrack about olivia, or even joshua for that matter. the lines in the song that do directly reference olivia or the drama itself, are so forgiving and understanding, "maybe blonde was the only rhyme" "maybe we could've been friends if i met you in another life" she's literally giving excuses as to why olivia didnt mean it like that, or for this to happen, and i feel like skin is more-so a "disstrack" about the media and the internet, in the same vain as vicious and even because i liked a boy is, and saying that the media can't get under her skin with all the homewrecking allegations and name calling. *side note, i also heavily agree that skin probably wasn't a great choice to release at the time, and if because i liked a boy was written by then, it would've been a much smarter choice, however skins a great song so yk what, i'm not complaining about it being released!
@@EljohnMacaranas honestly i didn’t even think about that but yeah, i more meant it as the fact that she released a song that so heavily reads as a diss track against olivia when the internet already hated her for “wrecking” olivia’s relationship, although now that you mention it, it is generally such a shame that her first experience as an artist outside of hollywood records and disney channel was having the internet hate her and call her horrible things, it can not be easy having to in some ways start all over and rebrand yourself in the midst of all that. to be fair though, a lot of the best disney stars had controversies post disney channel and they turned out great, so as unfortunate as it is, scandal does actually help an artist sometimes.
Espresso reminded me of teenage dream (Katy Perry) . Just the way the video looks and the sorta vibe. I think she would be really similar to Katy. Fun, versatile, and capable of having depth when wanted
That last part is why I think she’ll have longevity, like when she goes deep, she really does have substance. Sure everyone is “me espresso” now but when she comes for us with a newer ballad or a darker track, she’s already had years of experience!

What a shady practice. I can’t stand these labels taking advantage of children. They did that to Jojo and she spent years trying to get out of a 7 album deal while they refused to release any of her music. She eventually found a loophole in the contract that in NYC minors can only be obligated to a 5 year contract, doesn’t matter the albums. She spent an extra like 5 years in that label that she didn’t even need to be.
Honestly, the labels do NOT act in the interests of clients. They’re more than happy to waste people’s time and potential if it means no one else can tap into it.
I know I'm not a fan of Sabrina or her music (I have different music tastes) but I already knew Sabrina back in her Disney Channel days 10 years ago (Girl Meets World) and honestly I don't think she should've signed with Hollywood Records in the first place cuz they are soo lacking of the promos and even the lack of giving singers creative freedom even of wanting to cuss out in the songs. Sabrina would've been open act of Taylor's Reputation Tour instead of Eras Tour in my opinion cuz Sabrina was still under Hollywood Records at that time and would've sung some songs from "Evolution" and "Almost Love" leading up to releasing Singular Act 1 in 2018. And as for her in Island Records I wished she would be giving an opportunity of able to own her music masters cuz her songs are copyrighted to Island Records NOT " (c) Sabrina Carpenter, under exclusive license to Island Records ". Overall it's just me ranting in my opinion of how Sabrina's career would've been during 10 years if you know what I mean 😐, she has something, it's just I wished the opportunities for Sabrina would've been better, including of wanting Sabrina owning the music masters, but I'm happy she finally caught up this year now and wish her the best 🙂🙂
I think Sabrina will eventually get to own her masters (starting next record likely) because whatever deal she has with Island probably was written up as she was leaving Hollywood with very little but some name recognition 😭
Well... The first I heard of her was because of the rumored love triangle with Olivia 😂. There might be a bit of truth about that beeing a PR stunt. I just heard Espresso two weeks ago, and I can't say it impressed me. I heard it and just thought "meh". I think it's pretty generic tbh. I heard it a couple of times since then, but it always leaves my mind instantly 🤷🏼♀️. For me, that song doesn't have anything memorable about it. Even the lyrics... Yeah they have a few "uncommon" rhymes in it, but I don't think they are really that impressive. Though to be fair, song lyrics don't always have to be "clever" or "artistically valuable" for me to enjoy them. They just have to be relatable for me. But, yeah... I do think she is one of the more talented emerging stars right now, her music just isn't for me. But it also doesn't have to be. I was just very curious about her, because she kept popping off in my feeds constantly recently.

Also her perfume receiving great reviews from the beauty and fragrances community helped her a lot. I got curious to listen to her because I bought her perfume and loved it and thought let’s see what the girl of my perfume sings which made love espresso. I think many women like me loved her perfume sweet tooth first then we listened to her music which is great too.

I've been very emotional lately seeing how she's turned into a household name, she truly deserved this years ago! Sue Me was such a potential hit. Her last label… ugh… they really didn’t know how to market her at all. I had to secure those tour tickets for this era even if it’s a steep climb from last era.

No I wouldn't say anything about the driver's license song releasing did her any good because all of 2021 she was internet's enemy No.1. It didn't get her good PR. It was only her own song on the drama "because I liked a boy" a year later that put a light on how much unjustified hate she had to deal with that got her back in many people's good graces.

@@EljohnMacaranas No it was planned a long time in advance. His debut EP if I remember correctly was announced before Olivias album. Sabrina song "Skin" was of course a response put together quickly. But Olivia had teased the songs through shorts for many months before. He had a song with Sabrina on it also for his first EP but I guess they dropped that one because of their breakup OR because it would cause even more harassment from the extreme side of Olivia fans. But there is 1 song on that EP that is co written by Joshua and Sabrina called "Heaven is You". But its interesting everyone interpreted Joshuas songs as a response to Olivia, but it was not. His songs are always written long in advance. Lie Lie Lie was about a friend. One of his best tracks "Only a Matter of Time" was about some girls that falsely accused him for sexual harassment the previous summer. So the only real response to the situation is those trio of songs. But there are songs he have released that is probably about Olivia. I would guess Doppelganger, im Sorry. I bet one of the two new songs he have released "The Golden Years" is also about her. The other songs would just be guesses as he have probably been with more girls then just those two. We know of 1 girl before Olivia that some songs can be about. "Would You Love Me Now" is a good guess. In an interview he did recently his album which comes on july 26th also titled "The Golden Years" is about his experiences of the last 4 years. Which he said have been both the best and worst times, but that it teached him alot. I think each of their teams knew what was coming from Olivia and that made the machine start rolling. Joshua said his label wanted to go all in and capitalize on the situation. But thats what I like about Joshua, he didnt want to do that. And the label was ok with it. He have said that Warner Records have been amazing and have let him control most of it himself. Now lets see if they start to really promote the album. It still lacks a "Main single" and a music video. You dont get plays on youtube with lyric videos. You need music videos and so far it seems the first to releases have been more as promotional singles. Like they are testing the waters. He have been quiet for a year since he ended the last tour last year. Except for the release of "Just Love" last september, which in my opinion was a big mistake and his only bad song. I have followed this from the beginning closely😅 And it made me a fan of him as I can see alot of myself when I was at that age, with his searching for who he is etc. So did I for many years, but now at 35 I have realized that "searching" is a waste of time. You change all the time and should just live day by day and have a more relaxed view on life. So thats my rant and some extra insight for you 😊 I like all 3 of them though. And I wish all of them great success.

I think all of Sabrina’s albums are incredible and I think her success is well deserved. I just strongly resent the fact that she got a lot of hate before her album release and new found success. She didn’t deserve that.

Sabrina also has the underdog arc that started after she was treated badly during driver's license period which takes an artist so far. And her personality is amazing. She witty and quick to replt in a humorous way

I think she really found herself authentically with the emails album. When she was rolling out the Singular Act albums, I've always felt some of the songs were forced despite a couple of them being fairly successful singles (the Saweetie collab, Diamonds Are Forever, Sue Me song, Almost Love, last two I heard on the radio a lot during its time) and she was trying to fit into what other pop acts were doing.

THUG is one of my favourite books so I was BEYOND gagged to find out she was in the adaptation. But it also shows a lot of her unexpected charm since despite Hailey being a thoroughly unlikeable character, she just brings the character some life that makes her somehow easier to like. She has a really subtle IT factor.

Island probably will, but it’s down to respective management. I think Sabrina’s team (with some new players involved) will do well, Chappell’s clearly overwhelmed but thriving (saw a video of her being shook while performing at the size of her crowd.
For a long time I think Sabrina just wasn't the "look" the music industry wanted to push. I think it was more so Doja Cat and Ice Spice. But Ice Spice failed to make an impression and then T-Swift took Sabrina under her wing instead. Like clockwork. That seemed to stick more. (Tyla is also the look / genre they're trying to push but she's promising so she is likely here to stay.) Granted some people were still walking past Sabrina during her opening sets, but I think her current label is actually doing their job and pushing her, and that helped make Espresso go viral. Utilizing TikTok also helped because that's how everything goes viral. just lots of viral tracks with short lifespans.
Tyla needs to blow up beyond Water, loved her debut! Nut yah, Sabrina genuinely has that factor that just needed some cultivating.

I remember when she was the voice of Princess Vivian in the Disney Junior Series Sofia The First, my little sister use to watch that show when she was little. So i've seen Sabrina's growth for a long time.

I've only known her since 2022 because of randomly getting her mv of because i liked a boy recommended and then checking out her album eics out afterwards. I wasn't completely in the loop when the driver's licence stuff happened but after getting to know her story, i have been rooting for the this woman ever since. She's been working hard for so long and the first time she got mainstream attention in recent years, it was because everyone was painting her out to be as a homewrecker and olivia's worst enemy and sending her so much hate, it's amazing to me that she managed to handle all of that with the grace that she did even tho she had every right to be pissed off. Now in 2024, it seems like the world is finally catching up to what many carpenters knew since her early days, what i knew in 2022 when i first saw her mv and heard her gorgeous voice; Sabrina Carpenter is a star. So glad She's beginning to get her flowers.
2022 was honestly a perfect year to get into her: EICS dropped, tickets for her tour were actually accessible, and she was killing it quietly. I fear for Tuesday’s presale 💀

About skin, I wouldn't say it *isn't* a disstrack entirely, however i definitely wouldn't say it's a disstrack about olivia, or even joshua for that matter. the lines in the song that do directly reference olivia or the drama itself, are so forgiving and understanding, "maybe blonde was the only rhyme" "maybe we could've been friends if i met you in another life" she's literally giving excuses as to why olivia didnt mean it like that, or for this to happen, and i feel like skin is more-so a "disstrack" about the media and the internet, in the same vain as vicious and even because i liked a boy is, and saying that the media can't get under her skin with all the homewrecking allegations and name calling.
*side note, i also heavily agree that skin probably wasn't a great choice to release at the time, and if because i liked a boy was written by then, it would've been a much smarter choice, however skins a great song so yk what, i'm not complaining about it being released!

@@EljohnMacaranas honestly i didn’t even think about that but yeah, i more meant it as the fact that she released a song that so heavily reads as a diss track against olivia when the internet already hated her for “wrecking” olivia’s relationship, although now that you mention it, it is generally such a shame that her first experience as an artist outside of hollywood records and disney channel was having the internet hate her and call her horrible things, it can not be easy having to in some ways start all over and rebrand yourself in the midst of all that. to be fair though, a lot of the best disney stars had controversies post disney channel and they turned out great, so as unfortunate as it is, scandal does actually help an artist sometimes.

What a shady practice. I can’t stand these labels taking advantage of children. They did that to Jojo and she spent years trying to get out of a 7 album deal while they refused to release any of her music. She eventually found a loophole in the contract that in NYC minors can only be obligated to a 5 year contract, doesn’t matter the albums. She spent an extra like 5 years in that label that she didn’t even need to be.
Honestly, the labels do NOT act in the interests of clients. They’re more than happy to waste people’s time and potential if it means no one else can tap into it.

I know I'm not a fan of Sabrina or her music (I have different music tastes) but I already knew Sabrina back in her Disney Channel days 10 years ago (Girl Meets World) and honestly I don't think she should've signed with Hollywood Records in the first place cuz they are soo lacking of the promos and even the lack of giving singers creative freedom even of wanting to cuss out in the songs.
Sabrina would've been open act of Taylor's Reputation Tour instead of Eras Tour in my opinion cuz Sabrina was still under Hollywood Records at that time and would've sung some songs from "Evolution" and "Almost Love" leading up to releasing Singular Act 1 in 2018.
And as for her in Island Records I wished she would be giving an opportunity of able to own her music masters cuz her songs are copyrighted to Island Records NOT " (c) Sabrina Carpenter, under exclusive license to Island Records ".
Overall it's just me ranting in my opinion of how Sabrina's career would've been during 10 years if you know what I mean 😐, she has something, it's just I wished the opportunities for Sabrina would've been better, including of wanting Sabrina owning the music masters, but I'm happy she finally caught up this year now and wish her the best 🙂🙂

I just heard Espresso two weeks ago, and I can't say it impressed me. I heard it and just thought "meh". I think it's pretty generic tbh. I heard it a couple of times since then, but it always leaves my mind instantly 🤷🏼♀️. For me, that song doesn't have anything memorable about it.
Even the lyrics... Yeah they have a few "uncommon" rhymes in it, but I don't think they are really that impressive. Though to be fair, song lyrics don't always have to be "clever" or "artistically valuable" for me to enjoy them. They just have to be relatable for me.
But, yeah... I do think she is one of the more talented emerging stars right now, her music just isn't for me. But it also doesn't have to be. I was just very curious about her, because she kept popping off in my feeds constantly recently.

I’m stillll mad at how singular act 2 was handled 😭 if I recall correctly all the best songs were singles before the albums release like in my bed, pushing 20 etc and then there were no singles after the album came out so after all that excitement and build up for it the label gave up on the album promo :((( personally out of her 5 albums, singular act 1 is stilll my fave and completely skipless, I hope S&S can dethrone it lol
Singular as a project was robbed. She was really coming into her own and the label was just not the right one in a crowded year.

I hope she stays safe or nothing destruct comes out of all of this success of life. Lord God, let her stay with us for a full life.
Honestly, I think she has a smart team, good head on her shoulders, and the delay in getting fame has made her a pretty humble and savvy person who knows the industry well
Also her perfume receiving great reviews from the beauty and fragrances community helped her a lot. I got curious to listen to her because I bought her perfume and loved it and thought let’s see what the girl of my perfume sings which made love espresso.
I think many women like me loved her perfume sweet tooth first then we listened to her music which is great too.

Great video! As a Sabrina fan since 2016 who's seen her live twice, I have to say you really did a wonderful job summarizing her career in retrospect. I've been very emotional lately seeing how she's turned into a household name, she truly deserved this years ago! I was always a little grumpy "Sue Me" wasn't her breakout single back in the day lol but I'm just glad she's getting recognition one way or another.
Sue Me was such a potential hit. Her last label… ugh… they really didn’t know how to market her at all. I had to secure those tour tickets for this era even if it’s a steep climb from last era.
Don’t get me wrong, what to happened in Drivers’ license was messed up, but in a way it was good PR and really cemented Sabrina’s image. Blessing in disguise perhaps?
No I wouldn't say anything about the driver's license song releasing did her any good because all of 2021 she was internet's enemy No.1. It didn't get her good PR.
It was only her own song on the drama "because I liked a boy" a year later that put a light on how much unjustified hate she had to deal with that got her back in many people's good graces.
I think it helped with name recognition but definitely did derail her chances at mainstream immediate success at the time!

"Lie Lie Lie" wasnt about Olivia. Joshua didnt have any song about that situation until his Crisis/Secret/Set Me Free EP.

@@EljohnMacaranas No it was planned a long time in advance. His debut EP if I remember correctly was announced before Olivias album. Sabrina song "Skin" was of course a response put together quickly. But Olivia had teased the songs through shorts for many months before. He had a song with Sabrina on it also for his first EP but I guess they dropped that one because of their breakup OR because it would cause even more harassment from the extreme side of Olivia fans.
But there is 1 song on that EP that is co written by Joshua and Sabrina called "Heaven is You".
But its interesting everyone interpreted Joshuas songs as a response to Olivia, but it was not. His songs are always written long in advance. Lie Lie Lie was about a friend. One of his best tracks "Only a Matter of Time" was about some girls that falsely accused him for sexual harassment the previous summer.
So the only real response to the situation is those trio of songs.
But there are songs he have released that is probably about Olivia. I would guess Doppelganger, im Sorry. I bet one of the two new songs he have released "The Golden Years" is also about her. The other songs would just be guesses as he have probably been with more girls then just those two. We know of 1 girl before Olivia that some songs can be about. "Would You Love Me Now" is a good guess. In an interview he did recently his album which comes on july 26th also titled "The Golden Years" is about his experiences of the last 4 years. Which he said have been both the best and worst times, but that it teached him alot.
I think each of their teams knew what was coming from Olivia and that made the machine start rolling. Joshua said his label wanted to go all in and capitalize on the situation. But thats what I like about Joshua, he didnt want to do that. And the label was ok with it. He have said that Warner Records have been amazing and have let him control most of it himself. Now lets see if they start to really promote the album. It still lacks a "Main single" and a music video. You dont get plays on youtube with lyric videos. You need music videos and so far it seems the first to releases have been more as promotional singles. Like they are testing the waters. He have been quiet for a year since he ended the last tour last year. Except for the release of "Just Love" last september, which in my opinion was a big mistake and his only bad song.
I have followed this from the beginning closely😅 And it made me a fan of him as I can see alot of myself when I was at that age, with his searching for who he is etc. So did I for many years, but now at 35 I have realized that "searching" is a waste of time. You change all the time and should just live day by day and have a more relaxed view on life. So thats my rant and some extra insight for you 😊 I like all 3 of them though. And I wish all of them great success.

Singular was such a solid pop project but emails definitely was an era that deserved so much more!
i dont think a lot of ppl are calling this her 2nd/sophomore album out of spite... i think it is more so acknowledging this is her 2nd album where she actually has some semblance of true creative freedom because it is outside the clutches of Disney. at least thats how i see it!
