  • This is a simple display of the Boston Tom Scholz sound using (2) simple effects - The Vintage Rockman Stereo Chorus Delay module and a GOAT Distortion Generator floor pedal, a Perfect combination to get that 70’s Boston sound. Nothing fancy here and all played LIVE.
Tony Garofalo is from the band “New York to Boston” a Tribute to Boston and Long Island based, and yes, the hair is real! (Someone actually asked me that in a comment).

Sounds wonderful. Interesting enough, when I play I also tend to have my left hand middle finger up in the "F you" position.

That sounds killer. This is, somehow, the first time I've heard of the GOAT Generator. I didn't know anyone did such a faithful reproduction of the original Rockman circuit.

The GOAT distortion generator is quite amazing and faithful to the Rockman sound. It’s hard to find now, but a little trade secret- July 10- GOAT is re- releasing the DS pedal, with a new pedal
Boost remote 1/4” Jack you’ll see it in Reverb.com I’m sure

I can't afford over 1000.00 used to sound like a Tom Shultz. Very nice tones though

I had so much Rockman gear back in the 90s (when it was inexpensive)… why did I get rid of it?😢
Great sounds here. Can I suggest using a noise gate to help keep the hiss down a bit?

@@vincerusso5619 it’s a simple kitchen table (2) pedal setup for this demo video. My stage rig is elaborate with a noise gate of course. Thanks buddy.

    hi…
you seem to know your rockman stuff, hope you dont mind me bugging…
i received a new goat sustainer pedal today, and it has that vibe i was looking for…
i’ve been chasing that bass rockman sound for years, and this has that quality for sure…
but it is noisy in a weird way….
it gets this fluctuating sound that reminds me of camping and hearing the ebb of crickets or cicadas going off…
    is that normal for these?
i cant run the treble boost past 9:00 to stop that hiss, but this is different…
running a bass with EMGs, clean and clean 2 modes, i dont want this for any dirt…
    thanks

@@jymyben first make sure your using the supplied DC 9V adapter. If not you’ll need one at least 1 Am or 1000 Milliamp. Second, I don’t believe that this GOAT sustainor pedal was ever designed for bass guitar, although the clean channel on this pedal sounds very sparkly and even has a preamp in theta channel to give it a nice sound. You might want to write to GOAT - TC Gakki for questions about compatibility for the bass guitar. Good luck buddy

@@anthonygarofalo4151 thanks, i’m using a 9 volt battery, not a wall wart. hope it gets sorted, until the electronic noise kicked in, the pedal was everything i hoped for as to capturing “that sound” the bass rockman gives with a little more control over things…

Is that a wig? No offense, just my hair look almost exactly like that in 1986. BTW IMHO Rocktron belongs with Boston and only Boston, that's all it does well, that processed early 80's sound. My buddy Chris had one of these when the rest of us used Marshalls in those days. Sounds so processed to me, not bad just not a natural cranked tube amp which is more my jam. The bands I was in were rawer, not thrash just raw blues rock. Think AC/DC , Tesla, GNR (appetite for destruction) and the Cult melted together. My buddy Steve Blaze from Lillian Axe used a Rockman as a preamp into a power amp back then.
