On bird toy parts websites, you can get several bamboo finger traps and pieces of plain wood for cheap. Sometimes they have bags of bird-safe wood scraps. Even our Budgies can tear into some thick wood pieces when they want!
Helpful video! This gave me a few ideas for new toys to make. I once saw a comment by someone on a forum, who thought that cardboard boxes might be unsanitary after going through shipping and being handled by multiple people. But other owners said that their birds don't have a problem with cardboard. Seems like your birds are fine with it, also. I think some people on forums nit-pick too much.
I love making toys for my budgies. Sadly, since I adopted them as older birds (over 2 years old) and never got toys, they are picky about the materials I use. They aren’t interested ok cardboard. They prefer to chew the back off their perches, but they do like pine cones which I get for free at a local park.
Hi , a question off piste but I don’t know how to message any other way . I have a 2.5yr old canary and she has suddenly got a bare patch round her neck . I loose her out the cage every day for exercise . What could cause This x
Hi, there can be many reasons for the baldness. I am not a vet but in my experience it could be many things such as red mites, a bacterial infection, diet related, light schedule, hormones, a genetic issue or other reasons. If she has a cage mate, the cage mate may be plucking her. It's hard to say exactly as I am not a vet and can't diagnose. There are online exotic vets that you can search for.
Beautiful sharing ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you for these ideas. I also hold on to wooden beads and other shapes from previous toys to string in-between.
Great ideas, thank you.
You’re welcome!
That's such a good idea with the egg box! I didn't think of doing that!! My Linnie would love it

It's so nice to see you back. I let my java finches out while I watch your videos and, they will perch and watch them, too! 🐦🐦
That is awesome!
Reminds me to make more.. I like wooden beads or yucca circles in between so they can get at them easier!
Awesome and helpful as always 🩷✨️
A few of my budgies have been tail bobbing especially my white one but otherwise appear happy and getting around
My house rabbit would enjoy these type toys too! But I would leave out the string. Thank you Donna! 💗

I make almost all my bird's toys these days!
Same here. I can buy their favorite things from toy part websites. I still buy a few pre-made toys for variety.

Cardboard is totally fine, I've never had any issues with it!
Don't forget to have a good vacuum,, and mop.. my birds are free range only see the cage at bedtime.

I find the bare patch worrying . There are no bird vets near me ??

I wouldn't recommend stuff that could be potentially hazardous especially if you have baby birds
Yes, always use bird safe material
