This is a real great performance of the famous work. For Antal the most intricate passages seem to be easy. The cadenza is very well concieved with masterful elaborations of the musical material. Very beautiful indeed! It is refreshing to hear something else than the overplayed Sauret Cadenza. Then there are some nice details as for instance the E-major scale at 5.42 with the upper octave played in semiquavers so that the orchestra can come in at the right moment. Antal is a master of the highest calibre.

It's incredible how much of David Oistrakh I see in him, an old-school technique with pure artistic expression with no need to dance around the stage like nowaday musicians. I am absolutely amazed Antal you've just earned a life time follower and fan. I hope you come some day to Argentina I'd love to see a live performance.

@A.H I don't know what you mean, where did I insult other musicians? I didn't want to be mean by any way with my comment, to the contrary, I was celebrating the wonderful technique Antal has. I guess you misread my message.

Yes he looks and plays like David Oistrach.. I like Antal Zalai.

Wow. I feel exactly the same way. First time I saw him play he reminded me of David Oistrakh who was one of my mom's all time favorites.

In my humble opinion Antal Zalai is the best contemporanean Paganini-Performer,blessed with an unique Technique and a very skillfull Art of Interpretation.
His Interpretation of Paganini´s "Moto Perpetuo" just blew me away.

Yes , he is great. But there are also others: try to listen to Roman Kim's "I Palpiti", "God Save the King" and his other recordings like "Ballade Dies Irae".

excellent fiddling. i'm not crazy about the harmonics at 29:50 - it removes the virtuosic nature of the passage. one of paganin's hallmarks is the great leaps - playing it in low positions with harmonics is not paganini's style.

What a disappointing poser...the orchestra, & conductor, accommodated admiralbly throughout...pity about certain individuals....
      Antal, congratulations, it was beautiful.
