@@ShootThatVideo Definitely check it out. The 6k is beautiful! There was another RUclipsr that did a blind test between the GH5 versus a Red camera for 6k footage -- and people were struggling to figure out which camera was which. The GH5 is that much of a monster!
The GH5 is a great camera. Its the camera that i set my sights on years ago and finally got one. Its does everything I need and more. I use the 12-35mm 2.8 lens and will be getting the Sigma 1.4 lens shortly. The AF is good if one knows how to use it and take there time. The low light is the same. Having a lens with a lower f stop such as 1.4 or 1.7 even 2.8 is okay enough to use in low light. The GH5 is a camera for those who enjoy standing behind the camera instead of front. I wont be upgrading to another MFT camera.
Hi, I will do a film documentary for my student project. I'd like to film 4k footage. Do you think that Lumix GH5 is good enough for a student project? Any issues such as over heating, or limited time for 4k filming?
I shot my GH4 with my FX3 for a client and the production crew I help(who shoot all on FX6’s) picked the GH4 image thinking it was the FX3 once I sent them a comparison. Goes to show how good Panasonics image can be even against a workhorse like the FX3. Having shot on Lumix for 5 years, I still prefer the overall image over my main Sony camera that I use with other film crews.
I personally have 4 GH5 and also use 2 FX3 in another work place. Still I like GH5 and upgraded one of them to GH6 but I see FX3 beats them in focus, and picture quality. Although GH5 beats them in budget, and easy to use
It's an in house Panasonic look they started with their pro broadcast cameras. I can remember their MiniDV cameras were really good and better than competitors even in the very early 2000s. Just know what they're doing.
A very accurate and honest review of this camera - I own both the Panasonic GH5 and the Sony A7II and have to say I end up taking this with me on family trips more than the Sony. Why - firstly, it feels more nimble, it can record non-stop video given the Micro 4/3 is much more cool and does not overheat much, for photos I still find the colour science of the Panasonic nicer than the Sony. Overall, a very good cinematic camera if you know how to use it correctly.
Michael how about for a novice person just getting into Photo/video wanting to make small family/sports/everyday things a person who just purchased the studio ver of Davinci Resolve and is learning that... I just recently purchased the GH5 (4 months now) from a Sony professional user who was given the GH5 as a gift he stated that he liked it but was no way going to switch from the Sony eco system so I got a great deal in the GH5 with a 12-35 lens for 960.00 but do I ever struggle with the AF focus so a straight forward question from me being a noob and the fact that I only have one lens would it be better to grow into the field using the new full frame S5ii I will never touch the features of each camera but having used Nikon, Sony and Olympus cameras I really like the Panasonic interface and menus and I want to commit to using Panasonic cameras. The new S5ii with the new phase AF seems like it might be a reason to switch just for that alone. I have watched 100's of videos on how to use the GH5 focus and many videos saying that it is crap... I take the GH5 with me every day trying to get it right but have missed many a shot or video with blurry images..... Thanks
The GH5 is what I film with now. It looks so professional. It is a huge upgrade from my phone and old camcorder. Especially with the 25mm F 1.7 lense. Great bokeh and sharpness. Major upgrade.

I use this camera on every wedding shoot with a sigma 18-35 with a speedbooster (so it's sort of a 55 and with a 1,6 stop now the low light is not bad at all) and a variable nd filter. It's all I need. c1 is 24fps with iso 200, c2 30fps and c3 60 fps. Run and gun, I set the Iso on c2 and c3 so that it matches the 24fps. All in Cine-D (I found LOG converting doesn't work that good on the 8bit 30/60 fps). Highly recommend this camera.

Very interesting video. I was never a GH5 fan and never in a million years consider myself to be a GH5 fan, mainly because of the low light problem. Now I own one and I'm delighted with it. One thing that I truly love about this camera is the versatility that it provides. For one, you can adapt so many lenses with either a regular adapter or a speed booster. The other thing is the focal length that it provides. You can purchase just two lenses and end up with a wide range of focal lengths, due to the 2x crop factor. An 11-20 lens can either be a 22-40 or a 16-30 thereabout, depending on the adapter used. a 24-70 gives you 48-140 or 35-110, again depending on adaptation. A fast lens and speed booster eliminate low light and DOF problems. And the anamorphic 6k recording is awesome. I had no idea that it had terrible high dynamic range issues though, but as you said, nothing is perfect. A very good camera. I have my eyes on the Gh6 and especially the S5II.
Nice to hear, yes, can't argue about the quality and with good lens choices you can eliminate a lot of the MFT problems. I think knowing what the "cons" are, to avoid them or working around them is an important thing to get the most out of your camera. I'm also very exited about the S5II mainly because of the auto focus. But with switching to that I have to switch/invest in a lot more than just the body. So not anytime soon for me.
And don’t forget the etc extra tele conversion mode for video, you get essentially full 4k pixels readout on the sensor with another additional 1,4x zoom (or even 2x for 1080p). If Sony to give the best of their tech even to low end camera, it may kill their rivals business and Sony will also be affected. That is the reason why theIr APSC sensor has not been upgraded so much for than many years. This is all my personal thought based on info on the net and my experience with the camera.
Forgot to mention one of the most important aspect of GH5ii. I’m a journalist and i purchased the camera on my own so that i could study them and teach the young journalists which camera to buy, if they want to use the camera, if not they could opt for just a phone. I also teach them how to edit and use app on the go using solely iphone or ipad. Light weight and cost effecient will always be my main concern. I’m editing in Lumafusion, which for GH5ii it is easy and no lagging for 8bit colour. I’m also going to test on 10bit as well as GH5ii’s streaming via any phone, which is awesome to me.
I love this camera also and only wish the auto focus was great, that's why I must take a look at the new G9 ll with auto focus. With aging eyes auto-focus is a must!
this camera looks like something i need, i want 2k60fps / 4k30fps - 10bit color, this is the only one i found with a ok-ish price range :O (well there is also Fuji X-T3 but idk about the 10bit? and i would need to save up more.. but i think i should do it anyways, than testing the camera non-stop to decide if i still want it lol) i want to do cinematic videography (mainly) and photography! is there something better for my needs or should i def. go for the camera? (i see some used ones under 650€) and if i go for it? how do i make sure it doesn't overheat? which battery? how long until the batteries r empty? my budget ofc is lover than the price of the camera but i still would try to pay a little more~ it should be a full package way under 600 Euro, too much would be 900~ 😭
I have had the gh3 now since 2013.... I see someone selling the gh5 house for about 750 euro... is this a good deal I 2023 or is It a too high price still? anyone that can suggest me on if I should keep the gh camera set up or if there are other ways to make content today that might be better? some people tell me, just get a black magic pocket camera.. but is about 1600 for the house... and what mic is relevant to look into today in 2023? is the Zoom M3 a good choice with the 32 bit float abilities? I like to take beautiful shots and then add poetic voice overs to what I feel and think of things in life , like philosophic frames of mind... what cages, ways to hold the gh5 camera are the best ones for 2023? please link me guys if you seen and tested gear you feel is really nice! thanks a lot
Hi Joey! I'm interested in the open gate feature in the GH5, you know, vertical and horizontal deliverables from the same recording (16:9 & 9:16). Is it possible to use an external monitor when recording in open gate mode? Are there guide lines available on the external monitor to frame 16:9 or 9:16?
Is this camera able to be used as a primary camera capturing video for use with obs for live streaming twitch and webcam? Using the hdmi? Does it have an input Jack to incorporate the sound coming out my dj mixer? These are my main uses.
Awesome information. Thank you. I have been debating over this camera: GH5, the Sony A7C (cheaper lenses) & Canon R7 - for a hybrid camera. For video (travel - no Vlogs) and occasional photography.
Great to hear, the R7 is the best hybrid camera I think as you already mentioned. And the GH5 has endless lens options (also cheap) because of the MFT mount.

Ik heb pas een smallrig cage en monitor aangeschaft voor mijn gh5 .. Welke smallrig accesoires kan ik kopen om mijn hdmi kabel en poort van de camera te te beschermen?
I know your probably wary of giving advice as it’s so situational. But I’m considering getting a used one with a Leica 15mm, f1.7, for about $1000 usd I just got monetized on RUclips and am thinking of upgrading my kit. I do capentry style vlogs and how-to-video, so this involves uncontrolled low-light situations, and movement in and out of frame. To top it all off, i know nothing about cameras. Thoughts on if this would be a decent camera for what I do? Appreciate any advice Thanks!
To be honest, I think your better of with something that has better auto focus. I recommend this camera more for the filmmakers out there than for the content creators.
pfft ben op zoek naar een goede betaalbare cage met top handle met start en stop knop.any recomendations? Weet jij toevallig of de gh5 start stop recording werkt met een bedraade trigger?thx
Yes, the wired triggers should be working. I use one myself. I think smallrig has some good options. But to be honest, with a start-stop trigger, it will be expensive.
i have gh5 with 15mm f1.7 and olympus 14-42 f3.5 - 5.6,. 2 questions. 1) do you think its worth buying the mk1 version of 12 35 considering i have the olympus kit lens? i am asking bc i am assuming f2.8 and 3.5 isnt probably much different and if i ever do use those then it would be outdoor with alot of light. 2) for how many more years do you think gh5 will be still "professional" i guess for videos like vlogs or travel or just normal videos.
I got the 12-35mm 2.8 mark 1 for the GH5. I also have the 14-42 3.5-5.6. The kit lens is good cant fault it though the 12-35m is better. Reason is it goes down to 2.8 and has stabilization. So you get really smooth shots. You could always by a NDV filter for when shooting in outdoor and its sunny so you could keep the lends at 2.8. The best way to think about it is. If the 12-42 was better then the 12-35 then why is one a kit lens and the other cost around 300-500, The GH5 will be good for a few more years yet.
QUESTION, SHOOT THAT VIDEO? On High Quality Bit Rate Long Run VIDEO'S...DO Either GH5 Or Olympus EM-1 MKII Video FILES Get Split Up Into Multi Piece Bits? IF One Does But The Other Doesn't ..PLEASE Tell Me Which One Does & Which Does NOT? Or IF Both DO? I'M Want One That Just Spits OUT One Big FILE & Not a TON Of Multiple FILES That Need Special Software Stitching Together? THANK YOU 🙂
i think that camera does interpolation , faking FPS , in all your shots i see it , just look at edges of moving subjects , its a mess , that is an interpolation thing , which means , you can take other cameras and interpolate it , and make a 200FPS if you want . It will take you some time , but you can .

is strange you cannot take a professional photo with etc GH5 when I worked wit the GH3 and made amazing photos and got 5000 euro for every ten days doing that work! now that was in 2013... so how is possible you cannot do the same in 2023
It is not impossible but compared to a more high end (maybe full-frame) hybrid camera, there is a big difference. For me, a bigger difference than with shooting video.
@@ShootThatVideo I see... maybe yes, but it will also depend on the media your photos are presented on in the end, how compressed. will your work be in the end, if no one can see your work as you see it in your own photoshop how will t matter to have some fancy camera if is just photo in social media content that are so compressed that none of that will come out in the end result of your work? I do not mean you per se now, just mean us all, when we work, the reality of hard work vs how it is presented by a client and seen by the audience... I think that should be taken into consideration as well before one purchase a new and vey expensive camera...

With
aging eyes auto-focus is a must!
this camera looks like something i need, i want 2k60fps / 4k30fps - 10bit color, this is the only one i found with a ok-ish price range :O (well there is also Fuji X-T3 but idk about the 10bit? and i would need to save up more.. but i think i should do it anyways, than testing the camera non-stop to decide if i still want it lol)
i want to do cinematic videography (mainly) and photography!
is there something better for my needs or should i def. go for the camera? (i see some used ones under 650€) and if i go for it? how do i make sure it doesn't overheat? which battery? how long until the batteries r empty?
my budget ofc is lover than the price of the camera but i still would try to pay a little more~ it should be a full package way under 600 Euro, too much would be 900~ 😭
Good video mate
V good video, plz advice me best camera for wedding videography under 1500$ without overheating issue, used or new one, plz reply.
Great video and camera I have 3 of them
I have had the gh3 now since 2013....
Hi Pablo, I really need to look further into the open gate feature. It's pretty promising but I hadn't had the time to invest in really testing it.
What is the best all around lense for a complete beginner for this camera?
Is this camera able to be used as a primary camera capturing video for use with obs for live streaming twitch and webcam?
Using the hdmi?
Does it have an input Jack to incorporate the sound coming out my dj mixer? These are my main uses.
so this or fujifilm xt3 ? :D. I am looking to record hiking videos, landscapes etc
Have 3 Gh5 love them
Team GH5 ❤️
Awesome information. Thank you. I have been debating over this camera: GH5, the Sony A7C (cheaper lenses) & Canon R7 - for a hybrid camera. For video (travel - no Vlogs) and occasional photography.
Great to hear, the R7 is the best hybrid camera I think as you already mentioned. And the GH5 has endless lens options (also cheap) because of the MFT mount.
@@ShootThatVideo thank you 🙏🏼
great video. Id have to agree.
Thanks!
please help me i have gh5 for long time but nowadays when i shoot vlog it gives me weird magenta and green cast color i tried to upgrade the firmware but i couldn’t i tried all the method but no use really i started to get made with it
I just got one in box for 300 bucks 2 days ago
I just picked up a GH5 for $440 🤯
On which site?
Hi, i have gh5 mark I since 2019 i haven't bought vlog ever, but if i would go for Ninja V what could i record with it ?Do i need vlog still? As i remember Ninja only ads fancy pancy 4k/60 what about prores 4k60?Is it ads as well?Is that 4k60 to external recorder 10 bits?
Just received my GH5
Anyone have any recommendations on carrying case/bag?
Ik heb pas een smallrig cage en monitor aangeschaft voor mijn gh5 .. Welke smallrig accesoires kan ik kopen om mijn hdmi kabel en poort van de camera te te beschermen?
hello sir...how can i install v-log file.... i don't have a card.. how can i buy
leuke video😀
Fantastic!
GH5 is very good, I had both cameras.
I know your probably wary of giving advice as it’s so situational. But I’m considering getting a used one with a Leica 15mm, f1.7, for about $1000 usd
I just got monetized on RUclips and am thinking of upgrading my kit. I do capentry style vlogs and how-to-video, so this involves uncontrolled low-light situations, and movement in and out of frame.
To top it all off, i know nothing about cameras.
Thoughts on if this would be a decent camera for what I do?
Appreciate any advice
Thanks!
@@ShootThatVideo yesszz i bought one today from smallrig with start/stop trigger.....
i have gh5 with 15mm f1.7 and olympus 14-42 f3.5 - 5.6,.
@@orinorio1 ok thanks, you are right. If I didn't have the kit lens it would of been definitely a no Brainer to get mk1 version
@@davidvictory9764 no problem.
I am going to get one tomorrow 😊
Nice, get a good lens with it and you will be verry happy.
What camera cage are you using on the GH5?
QUESTION, SHOOT THAT VIDEO?
On High Quality Bit Rate Long Run VIDEO'S...DO Either GH5 Or Olympus EM-1 MKII Video FILES Get Split Up Into Multi Piece Bits?
IF One Does But The Other Doesn't ..PLEASE Tell Me Which One Does & Which Does NOT? Or IF Both DO?
I'M Want One That Just Spits OUT One Big FILE & Not a TON Of Multiple FILES That Need Special Software Stitching Together?
THANK YOU 🙂
GH5 spits out one file, unless it switches SD cards, I'm not familiar with the other camera you're talking about.
i think that camera does interpolation , faking FPS , in all your shots i see it , just look at edges of moving subjects , its a mess , that is an interpolation thing , which means , you can take other cameras and interpolate it , and make a 200FPS if you want . It will take you some time , but you can .
I don't think you're right...
@@ShootThatVideo how do you explain the blurred edges of everything ? dont tell me you dont see it
Sorry, erg off topic. Had jij “vroeger” niet een comedy channel? Haha you sound familiar!
Btw Fijne video’s met goede tips, nieuwe sub erbij!
I'm active on RUclips since 2011. So there is a big change you've seen me before talking dutch 😉
Hey
I really love your vidéo
I am a gh5 owner and i want you to help me get some good LUTs for color grading.
Hi, I have a big library of LUTS that I found for free in the last years. Some are good, some aren't.
But I did buy the Panasonic pack from Christian Maté Grab for Cinnelike-D footage which I really like.

@@ShootThatVideothanks
A link to get them please
I added the link already 😇
Me too
is strange you cannot take a professional photo with etc GH5 when I worked wit the GH3 and made amazing photos and got 5000 euro for every ten days doing that work! now that was in 2013... so how is possible you cannot do the same in 2023
It is not impossible but compared to a more high end (maybe full-frame) hybrid camera, there is a big difference.
Do i understand right that it can only shoot 4k60fps in 8-bit? 10-bit is not available for 4k60fps?
Yes, that's right. For 10-bit you have to switch to 4K 30fps & 24fps or 1080P 60fps, 30fps & 24fps. Check the full list at 3:38
You can with Ninja V - hdmi rec
The GH5 Mark II is capable of 4K, 60 fps, 10Bit.
talk about how you rigged it
