Fun fact. This comic is also Canon in the Transformers Marvel Comics series. And is the reason Spider Man is out of this story. He and Gears fought Megatron. Its shown it it cause Fury mentions that he is dealing "With a giant green lizard".
After reading Vol. 1 of The Transformers Classics, I realized that Godzilla, Transformers, & The Avengers once existed in the same universe. Hell yeah.
The interesting thing about this is the fact that NECA tried to make Marvel’s Version of Godzilla into a figure along with Hanna Barbara’s Version and the scrapped Ghost Godzilla but Toho rejected the idea
Godzilla's confrontation with J. Jonah Jameson is my absolute FAVORITE part of the entire series. I love it SO much! Jonah WOULD stick his head out a window and yell at Godzilla. It's great!
6:52 Funny thing about that, there's an episode of the Original Powerpuff Girls with a Godzilla-esque Invincible Monster that ends LITERALLY the exact same way
Whats absolutely crazy about this is that in the original Marvel comics universe, The Avengers, Godzilla, Transformers AND GI Joe... ALL TAKE PLACE IN THE SAME UNIVERSE!
The sentiments are shared. This was a series that I initially dismissed for a long time and thought that the series wasn't even Marvel canon. But when my pop dropped the Essential onto my lap from a co-worker of his, I was like "Might as well read it." And honestly, I'm happy I did. The series is a lot better than I originally gave it credit for, and as you said in the video, it gets surprisingly deep in areas I wasn't expecting. This series, while not perfect, definitely gets my recommendation. Though it is a pity that I can't see it in all of its colored glory, but black and white will suffice. ;)
Hey MIB, ever heard of the Marvel character named American Kaiju? It's basically godzilla, heck even the guy that turns into Americsn Kaiju is named Todd Ziller
I'm always getting this weird feeling that, in 2030, or some other miscellaneous year after Kong and Godzilla Beat the sh*t out of each other, Marvel might somehow buy the rights to Godzilla again for a Marvel x Godzilla film(s), possibly based off the comics. Probably won't happen, but hey... it could
Patrick Campbell Yes! Glad I'm not the only one that thinks this. I would love for Marvel for get the rights back to Godzilla and maybe make a trilogy based off the comics or something, :)
How is this for an episode the two baby Godzillas explore the whole island but then the green run run into an old fashioned atomic bomb he play with their fit and end up making it blow and mutating the two Baby Godzilla into teenager Godzillas and a piece of Destroyer that was blown up for the original Destroyer regrows his whole body and now Destroyer is back for Revenge please do this it sounds like a good episode PS can you look at the video game Super Godzilla ?
I have most of them. I actually framed the first few issues as backdrops for my SH Monsterarts. If you like the Marvel Godzilla I strongly recommend a few of the other Marvel Licenced but in Universe offerings from the same time period. Shogun Warriors are very similar to Godzilla, being Reideen, Combatra (Combatler V) and Danguard Ace. It's a short series ending a few issues early at 21, with a final 2 story close out issues in Fantastic Four. It's just fun seeing the super robots. Then there are the two masterpices that ran 10+ years each. Micronauts and Rom Spaceknight. Utterly amazing stuff. There is a pretty strong rumor that IDW Comics is losing the Hasbro license. Wouldn't it be nice for Marvel to pick it up again, just to bring these two back. (Sadly we will never again get Bill Mantlo's writing :_( )
Technically, the Super Sentai franchise is also in the Marvel comics universe, as one of the alternate earths. See, Marvel had a hand in 3rd, 4th, and 5th Super Sentai series, after they had previously partnered to create the live-action Japanese Spider-Man series. And in one comic (not sure which) that mentions that the 3rd series, Battle Fever J, was on a different earth. I believe it has been listed as non-canon, but at one point, it was in the official canon.
Toei Spider-Man (Supidaman) is canon as well. Too bad the Shogun Warriors, another property Marvel licensed aren’t canon. I’m not too sure if Marvel’s rise of Ultraman comic is canon yet or not.
*Godzilla teleport front of Hawkeye* Hawkeye: I find the lizard is over here. What why you want to attack me first Godzilla: because you are the aquaman of the marvel comics Hawkeye: you son of the b--- *Godzilla punch hawkeye*
I loved this series a lot, it was a fun romp through and through, I dare say that even this interpretation of Godzilla is up there as one of my favorites, im also just kinda a sucker for more dinosaur-esque Godzilla designs
I love this series. It got me interested in checking out devil dinosaur too which I also liked. My favorite line in this series has to be when Godzilla is shrunk and that one guy drops him in the water and says "oops." Then Dum Dum is like "oops? That's all you can say? Oops?!?" Cracks me up every time.
I'm guessing he de-mutated and stayed in the sea. I agree, there's no way the Leviathan is Godzilla, the only other way to back it up is how the mutations made him slightly weaker (as seen in his encounter with Ironman and then the robotic Devil Dinosaur in the thing comic).
I love this comic as this was what got me into Godzilla. I even to this day have the marvel comic essential Godzilla king of the monsters for Christmas, it has a bit of damn through out the years I had it, a few of the chapters of the first volume are gone and I had color a few chapters with crayons because I was a dumb kid back then so I had no idea that you needed to be super careful with comics back then but overall I can get a good read out of it.
I personally love Matt Frank's artwork from Godzilla Rulers of Earth, but because I love Marvel more than DC, and just the fact alone that Godzilla was in the Marvel Universe is mind blowing, IDW, and Marvel did the best in my opinion.
I own a copy of the Essential collection. It was a Christmas present from my dad; he used to have the original issues but I think most were destroyed. Either by flood or by me reading them too much. Unfortunately, my Essential collections cover fell off thanks to bad gluing on the spine, but the rest is still intact. I've been working on making a new cover since then. I just need to properly fit and glue it.
Goddamn, I knew about this comic already, but didn't fully realize the potential crossovers between all the Marvel-owned and borrowed properties. Marvel's OG 616 universe has Godzilla AND The Transformers in it. Any word on the Marvel Star Wars comics being in 616? That would make my f**king day.
U know it’s weird that marvel comic creator Stan Lee didn’t get the other Toho kaiju but instead marvel’s own kaiju for marvel godzilla to fight so why and how the other toho kaiju not appear in marvel’s Godzilla comics
This comic series is responsible for making me a diehard Marvel fan. Before I read this series the only Marvel character is cared about was Spiderman but after I read it I started to become more interested in other Marvel characters.
In Avengers V1 # 198, Red Ronin appears and they explicitly say he was built to fight Godzilla. Despite Herb Trimpe doing the art, the Hulk never appeared, except for a gag panel. In an X-Men issue directly after Secret Wars 1, Japan is said to have a recurring daikaiju problem and Godzilla is seen in silhouette in a children's reference guide.
So basically they treated Godzilla like the Hulk. I'm not upset or anything, it's just an amusing thought cause they pretty much have only two ways to depict him, either big rampant monster or misunderstood beast.
I think that Demonicus' Mutant Kaiju isn't Godzilla, I think it is a mutant made using Godzilla's blood cells mixed with prehistoric sea creatures' DNA, Demonicus' Kaiju isn't on the same field of intellect as Godzilla because Demonicis' Kaiju was made using Godzilla's Blood and the DNA of Prehistoric creatures.
Great and awesome analytics as usual MIB! I've heard about this series a long time ago so wasn't that surprised. However, I didn't bother reading the entirety of the history, so this is where you come in to fill the awesome gaps! This also brought me a memory on a "what-if" that was thought about by Toho but couldn't bring it into fruition I think for not obtaining the licensing rights to it. Basically, picture this... Batman vs. Godzilla. Yeah, 1960's vintage Adam West era Batman against the 'Big G' on the silver screen. But again, it never let the chalkboard. Again, fantastic review. I never get tired of them. :)
Fun fact. This comic is also Canon in the Transformers Marvel Comics series. And is the reason Spider Man is out of this story. He and Gears fought Megatron. Its shown it it cause Fury mentions that he is dealing "With a giant green lizard".
That IS a fun fact. Godzilla, Megatron, and Spider-Man... all in one shared Earth. Wow.
@@MonsterIslandBuddies Yeah. Sadly it got retconned.

SmashBlaster 1-Up they should make necas to more godzilla monsters like anguirus or rodan. I think thed be good at gamera monsters as well.
Orga would make for a good neca. Or sh monsterarts could probably do well aswell.
Damn Toho, won't let us get 2 green godzillas and transparent godzilla
Aww mann
Godzilla's confrontation with J. Jonah Jameson is my absolute FAVORITE part of the entire series. I love it SO much! Jonah WOULD stick his head out a window and yell at Godzilla. It's great!

I bring Justus lol definitely xD
Forgot to switch accounts buddy
@@decapitronboy45 ?
@Jason Berryman Lol I think it would fit if it fallowed the original comic from the 1970s
@Jason Berryman in spider man far from home earth 616 is heavily referenced. (The the world mysteryo lied he was from)
Shame he never fought the Hulk. The two are just begging to meet each other!
Godzilla did fight the hulk. Hulk got stomped by the g man.
Or Fin Fang Foom.
If only Godzilla is in the mcu the money will be rolling in
Actually they did fight off screen or panel he slapped the hulk and one shouted him

As a Godzilla and Marvel fan this has to be one of my favorite comics of all time!
if Godzilla was in the Marvel cinematic universe,

Wasn't their Godzilla vs Thor, like they both push a giant building and doing a reverse tug of war?

I’ve read the essential collection of that series (which I still own) when I was a kid, it was awesome
Jacob Waters but how did Godzilla co operated with rob to wear a trench coat ?
Beats me
Jacob Waters hmmmm
Now I got the new omnibus IN COLOR! 😊
My collection of the comics is almost done, just a few issues left to get.
So Robert is this comic’s Kenny okay...
Reading the comics again he’s not that bad

Red Ronin = Pacific Rim + Evangaleon (but old)
Really more of the likes of Mazinger Z, Raideen, other classic 70s Anime Super Robots and Jet Jaguar.
Rest In Peace Stan Lee 😢
Yay a new comic book review video.
Stay Awesome MIB!
But what about when the Thing punches Godzilla into a tank full of sharks? That part made me laugh.

Hey orga can you review zillas movie please and what's your favorite snack??
Was one of my favorite comics as a kid when it was coming out, and I still love it!
Marvel Godzilla is probably still alive and hibernating and waiting to come out one day. All those creatures were clones of Godzilla nothing else.
I really would love to see them bring it back as a re-release.
The Marvel wiki finally gave Leviathan his own page that is separate from that of Godzilla.
Godzilla in Infinity War. I’m calling it right now 😂
Turns out this is the same earth as the transformers marvel comic, just gonna let that sink in
That's kind of cool seen a Japanese monster in the Marvel Universe imagine that he was fighting Power Rangers holy Power Rangers

One of my favorites i see and it would be cool to see Godzilla In Marvel comics again
pretty sure i'm not the first one who will say this but, y'know what would be cool? Godzilla in the MCU. wouldn't that be fucking awesome?

I like the idea of the avengers charging into battle with the green marvel Godzilla alongside them

Continuity!
And people say the Big G would get pulverized by the avengers?......HA!
Poor big guy, I feel for you big G.
If only Spiderman had his robot to fight Godzilla!
Marvel's releasing a Godzilla Omnibus in October 2024!
The First Marvel Godzilla reminds me a Lot of The Hanna Barbara Godzilla.
So basically they treated Godzilla like the Hulk. I'm not upset or anything, it's just an amusing thought cause they pretty much have only two ways to depict him, either big rampant monster or misunderstood beast.
Nice observation!
I really wish we got a fight between Godzilla and Marvel's Godzilla Fing Fang Foom
Godzilla getting hit by Mjolnir, and barely feeling it.... Wow!
Wish they would put out another, collected book. The one that exists is up there.
This needs to be in the MCU
I wish Godzilla could be in the MCU... or that mutated Godzilla branded as it’s own thing.
The issue 193 Godzilla is Titanosaurus
Maybe Leviathan is a monster made from Godzilla's DNA. Like Biollante, SpaceGodzilla, and Orga.
Well Godzilla was used again as one of the creatures that mole man used but any appearance after the main comic line is up for debate
The only two issues I had was Godzilla versus Bigfoot.
By the way when Godzilla spewing out fire it looks a bit like the image on the Ben Cooper Halloween costume of Godzilla
I have the essential Godzilla and I love it! (Don't care for the b&w tho)
Godilla in marvel world, huh. Thought id never see it.
Marvels top rival DC now have their own Godzilla series
I think that Demonicus' Mutant Kaiju isn't Godzilla, I think it is a mutant made using Godzilla's blood cells mixed with prehistoric sea creatures' DNA, Demonicus' Kaiju isn't on the same field of intellect as Godzilla because Demonicis' Kaiju was made using Godzilla's Blood and the DNA of Prehistoric creatures.
well, did you know that they try to make their own version of godzilla 2014. his name is "american kaiju." you should check it out.
I own the first issue. It sells for about $250
Too bad Marvel Legends never made a Godzilla figure! Sigh
In a way, Marvel Godzilla is like King Kong.

Imagine if godzilla shows up in the mcu
You should add more ultra monsters to your videos like gamora ,Eleking, Pagos,Geronimon, Neronga, and Alien Baltan just to name a few of them
Own all but one issue of the series. Need to re-read the series
