Say what you may like, but to ME the former QM is simply more beautiful. A true Blue Riband winning greyhound of the ocean. And this is but a skyscraper put to water. ♍
….and came into service 88 years ago and out of service 57 years ago so she’s been retired longer than when she was active…Just to give it a clear perspective for you in your cloud of nostalgia… Sure, classic ships like classic cars are pretty, but given you’re used to modern convenience, you sure as heck wouldn’t like sailing on board this ship as it was from 1936 to 1967 for any extended length of time. Her cabin decor and service standards as well as her well documented instability and famous rolling ability would see your modern insights challenged rapidly. She’s long outmoded compared to her successor on which I will be enjoying a transatlantic sailing in a few short weeks. Put away the rose coloured glasses. She was a product of her time. That time, thankfully, has long passed giving us the splendour of the mighty QM2, her very worthy and only, ocean liner successor….
