He kept eating it to make sure he had the right score out of respect for the name. It was never an 8 pie just off the look alone. If they left it in a little longer and crisped up then sure
And it's not just the story itself. It's the cadence of the speaker. The rise and fall of tone, the rhythm of the speaker. I could listen to this dude banter for hours.
Not for a pizzeria that spent 8 years to get Di Fara’s secrets. Portnoy is not lying. I was born and still live in NYC and Di Fara’s is top 10 in the city. It’s a 9 pizza any day.
7.9 is actually low in my opinion for their pizza. I live around the corner from Dom's and been going there since they opened in 2011. While it surely ain't as great as the original Di Fara in Brooklyn, it is an outstanding pie and probably more like an 8.4. Dave under scored it because it was a bit thicker than he likes after they even left the fresh basil off for him! hahaha
@@michaelderamo1866 I live about a mile from Doms, I think their grandma slice is their better pizza. I'm at Caesars all the time and occasionally use my voucher on a free slice, the price and the quality there is just simply terrible. What do you think of Those Guys? I would put them ahead of Doms
i love how old people say "i could tell you the whole story, it's interesting" and then they go on to tell the whole story anyway. Not that it's a bad thing. Once and a while i run into them and embrace the story in hopes of potentially learning something new.
The old Italians are the ones with the greatest stories. My grandmother, God rest her soul, use to tell me stories of my family and our heritage. All the old crime bosses and the way it was in Italy and in Brooklyn. This guy is legit. Next time I'm in Vegas I gotta try this pizzeria.
Thank you very much for taking the time to listen to him. Shows a lot of class; showing respect for your elders. Good job Dave. With how busy you are, and the money you have…. that can teach the younger men. Good Job Dave.
The American dream and hard work. This guy knew what he wanted and went to work, working on how to become a great pizza maker from the best. Great story
What a great episode! The story time at the end was absolutely a special treat. Being that I am from North Carolina, I had to listen to the story several times to understand what the heck the man was talking about. But, that’s what made it so much fun? Keep up the good work…
As a Dominic who also used to make pizza I feel as if I was put on earth to do it and many other Dominic’s before me have felt the same way it seems. Cheers!
Having the back story of Di Fara and all that history that would have otherwise been lost is just amazing. Dave does great work enabling stories like this to happen through the lens of a pizza review.
I love these little big longer than usual one bite videos... the stories & just feeling like you're kind of there yourself. Dave listens very well and soaks in all the history. Hope to see longer videos more often!! 🙏💯💪🫡🔥👑🐐
Wow ! One of the best reviews ever . All because of the story being told . I'm 68 and actually was born in Brooklyn and lived on Ave J and Ocean Pkwy . Moved to KIngs Point in 57 , but my grandparents stayed in Brooklyn, on 51st street , literally down the road . When we had pizza it was Di Fara's . Crazy good story and man who pursued and conquered . BROOKLYN IN THE HOUSE !
Great story and storyteller. If there's anything I learned from this guy, it's never give up. Keep pushing, and one day, you'll get what you're fighting for.
I love this. I had the privilege to talk to Dom a few times. He worked so hard but if you got to know him, he was a very sweet man. He told me all about how he imports everything. He told me about the ovens. Nobody, even his own family, can perfectly replicate what he did. The pizza is still good but it's not quite what it was when Dom was doing everything. I am sure, just the ingredients alone makes this pizza pretty good but the second Dave opened the box, you could see it's not the same. Not just the missing fresh basil, it was missing the added oil and the look of the sauce and the fresh parm Dom sprinkled on top. It just isn't the same.
Was at DeLorenzo's in NJ for the first time just last week. Ridiculously good pizza. Best I've had in NJ and top 3 all time in my book (followed by Sally's and John's).
He must of told this story a few times because he gives so much information without skipping a beat. It’s so clear and concise. Living in GA this is what I love about going back to Jersey and sitting in a small bar and just listen to real old time Italian’s talk. Only thing missing was being able to smoke in the bars.
This guy's story is better than 99% of the movies being released these days.
Where's the T and A?
All of them hollyweird freaks
Fr. It's like he's narrating a Scorsese film 😂
As I was kicked directly into a marvels movie commercial…….99.9. I hate correcting people, but I think you’re absolutely right, just off by a smidge….
Hollyweird freaks
One 7.9 that Dave can’t stop eating. Everybody knows they deserved the 8.1
8.3 even. Yeah, that's right.
7.9 is a high score for a pizza that thick
Looked amazing but could tell right away was gonna be a bit too cheesy/thick for daves personal taste.
Yeah I knew it was doomed sub 8. You can’t use cheese and dough and get higher than a 7.9.
He kept eating it to make sure he had the right score out of respect for the name. It was never an 8 pie just off the look alone. If they left it in a little longer and crisped up then sure
No crisp...or it would have been.
7.9 Pizza, 10.0 Story.
Rookie score
Meh, he didn't make it personal enough.
He robbed him for the name? The story’s bogus
??? That story was horrible
More like 7.9 pie BS story. What a loadashite.
They don't tell stories like this anymore. That was refreshing, loved it!
And it's not just the story itself. It's the cadence of the speaker. The rise and fall of tone, the rhythm of the speaker. I could listen to this dude banter for hours.
They don't? I could have sworn I just watched that old man Albert drop a great story on Dave's ass.
When an older Italian-American wants to tell you a story, you sit down and listen. The best
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
That guy def aint Italian. Jew all day.
I hope Marty Scorsese is taking notes of this story scene for his next movie. What a gem.
I got the vibe of his movies also
martys bout to beg joe pesci to come back for another movie lol
That WAS Marty
A Brooklyn to Vegas mobster movie focused around money laundering and pizza. I'd watch that.
"Come on in buddy ill pour you a drink" - Favourite line of the video
Hahahaha exactly! Such a Brooklyn move. Love it
Hahaha me too.
In the time it took Prez to finish that conversation he lost half the cheese from the pizza
the loss of toppings inaccurately skewed his rating.
Great content and story
Total goof move
It's criminal to lose all that yummy cheese! He should have picked up a new slice for judging.
Stop talking and eat! 😂
He's done this at least 10 times that I've seen. Everybody knows the rules.
Dave meets an older version of himself, everybody knows the rules!
After the video the old man hands Dave an all leagues sports almanac for 2024/2025. 2028: Dave is declared POTUS
He’s not as angry as Dave. He waited his whole life for this moment to tell his story.
Chefs kiss my friend Great comment!

This was a real treat, thank you for letting him tell his tale.
I'd love to just sit down with that owner and listen to his stories. He's got a ton of passion and it comes through in every word.
7.9 is a monster score for a Vegas pizza..

7.9 with Nevada water? 👀
It’s the best pizza in Summerlin. My go to.
This man seems like the sweetest thing... almost makes me tear for some reason. God bless this man
I swear New Yorkers and Italians could tell a story about paint drying and be the most gripping/entertaining story I’ve ever heard
Prez just letting all the cheese fall off while he yaps

Gawd that bothered me so bad lol 😂
I fucking cringe every time he does that! Lol
He only gave it a 7.9 because he felt as though there wasn't enough cheese 😂😂
@@sftrkrt07 dude I was thinking the same thing as half of it slid off before he bit into it. Dude is giving me PTSD cause of the way he eats.
All the storytellers I grew up with who taught me everything I know are all gone now and they all remind me of this fella. A dying breed. God bless
This guys a hell of a story teller
Emphasis on “hell”
What a great owner. Kind, charismatic.
this dude came straight out of a 1950’s classic, i love him
I could listen to a million more stories from that guy!
You know when the owner is name dropping De Lorenzo’s Tomato Pies and Di Fara that this one’s going to be good!
Dude....yo could a gave him an 8.1. Come on!!!
He deserves the "8" bracket!!!
Yes, he does.
He had to go hard on him but if he had heard the story before giving the score he would have gone 8.6

The pizza there is a def worthy 8.2 plus IMO. Dave did them dirty! lolol
Riveting content. No stuttering, just a clear beginning, middle, end type of tale.

That pizza was way too cheesy. It was a soupy mess. A disgrace

What a story teller. Love this guy

A totally harmless comment describing the video, yet it gives off ominous vibes that I don’t like…
A tale as old as time
Your observational skills are otherworldly!
such an underrated comment. cheers!
WOW!!!
That's an amazing story. Dedication to the game. Both sides of that conversation.
Absolutely love this guy. He sounds like an Italian Timon, he's from Jersey, Dave is mesmerized and this video is longer than 3 mins.

Great looking pie too
The spirit of Dom is definitely still alive. I’m in Brooklyn right now…I still feel his presence. What a damn good story.
Liked the story, interesting to see how protective the family was about Dom's name and legacy.
