    I feel like Ronan leaving Grady to die at the end was a weirdly out of character moment for him, despite only getting to know him in the small amount of pages that we did. I feel like it would have made for a more consistent story if Ronan ignored Tate and went into the tubes after Grady himself to avoid police intervention. That would have been a much more terrifying way to end the story than a casual conversation outside the tube as he was dying. Ronan slowly crawling through the tubes and at first only seeing Grady's sweat remaining on the slides, then his candy wrapper as he got to the checkpoint, and then slowly having to crawl his way through more and more gore, all in an attempt to save a good man. I'm a sucker for good endings, so I'd say that Grady's body would block Ballora from getting to Ronan once he inevitably got stuck, but he would still have to endure an entire night in the rotting entrails of his friend. If you wanted to have a bad ending though, Ballora could cleave her way through Grady's body and grab Ronan, sending him to the same death as Grady but this time having himself be stretched through the middle of his friends corpse.
    Genuinely a fucking terrifying story and 100% one of the best short stories fnaf has done so far. Very reminiscent of The Enigma of Amigara Fault by Junji Ito, a story where a town finds people shaped holes in the side of a cliff face, and people are inexplicably compelled to climb into them. Whenever they climb in, they're sucked down by an unseen force, but the tunnel gets thinner and longer as they go, so by the time they come out the other side of the cliff, the people are horrifically mutilatied into stretched versions of what they once were.
    It's always surprising to see how different each of these stories are, as some are relatively tame and classic horror, while others are fucking BRUTAL like this one. Some of the stories feel written for ages from like 8-12, meanwhile with stories like this one there's NO WAY I'd let someone under 13 read it.
    Anyways, thanks for another great audiobook reading Ozone, even though I'm late to when this was posted. I love hearing your commentary on the novels and I find it so helpful as a theorist when you point out relations to other books and parts of the FNAF lore I sometimes miss. You're genuinely a godsend for recording and uploading these, I swear to god I've downloaded like at least 3 viruses trying to get my hands on these books for free, as my public library doesn't have them yet since they're so new. Really appreciate it man, keep up the good work :]

    • @Sopsy_Hallow
      @Sopsy_Hallow Год назад +3

      i disagree with it being that out of character, your ending is far more out of character, him climbing into pipes that he knows he doesnt fit in, to go after a mangling oozing body?? he's already sickend and afraid of anything oozing and any gore at all, no way he'd go in to try to help, especially not go in after him considering he knows he's bigger and would not fit and he's a very logical guy
      now, it's still not the most "in character" but it's far more fitting for him to leave, i'd say the most in character thing would be to go get help anyway, but him being talked out of it also makes sense, it's not "in character" as far as motivations and moral compass goes, but it's still "in character" for logic and something he'd realistically do considering everything that is at stake. doing "the right thing" vs doing the best thing, and getting help, admittedly, would likely be useless

    This whole place sounds like a nightmare for someone with claustrophobia or if they don't have it before hand they'd gain claustrophobia. The real villains of this whole series is who ever the heck is in charge of construction design for these places. If this a place of exercise then by default you'd picture bigger people of all ages and sizes trying it. Why make the spaces so small and intense? On top of that the Ballora sucks at her job if she's suppose to help and watch out for customers in trouble.
    Also while I've never worked at or been to many amusement park I'm pretty sure emergency exits are meant to be on attractions for these exact scenarios or emergency evacuations due to fires, chemical leaks, etcs.
    I know crap safety protocols are the fnaf franchises main side theme but still.

      a location like a mall or a an indoor playpark/amusement park does not have static booths, shops/attractions change over the years, whether for variety, monitairy reasons or because of maintenance/technical issues
      a good chunk of the locations we've seen so far have had "severe technical issues" i.e. somebody died in it, they wont keep an attraction open if it kills people, both bad press and also bad business. the only potential exceptions would be freak accidents that can reasonably be avoided again (pressure and maybe happs stories) but even places that didnt have death, will still close down in time
      and you may say "fazbear enterprises does not care about death, they sweep it under the rug" which i find arguable, old fazbear, fazbear enterainment incorperated (a different company) did sweep accidents under the rug, but those were from malfunctioning animatronics or suits, and the death or injuries were staff, not customers. the actual murders werent done by or sweeped away by fazbear, they just want to discredit them due to bad press

    • @drawingdragon
      @drawingdragon 25 дней назад +1

      @Sopsy_Hallow "Except it doesn't show in the games" is a HUGE "except" wdym-
      Believe it or not most children, even edgy horror children, still have much lower thresholds for what they can handle. These books genuinely just feel like puking buckets of blood at the screen and hoping it's scary - that's dull for adults who are desensitized to it, and traumatizing for children.
      These things are written as if they're intended for the reading level of a 7th grader at MOST, yet the subject material is borderline rated M. There's 0 tonal consistency and I still to this day have no idea who these were written for. Most kids shouldn't be reading these, and most adults should be way past this reading level.
      Tl;Dr Fnaf has never been visually explicitly gorey, Scott said so himself he isn't comfortable showing outright violence but rather implies it. The same choices are NOT made for the books for the same audience for some reason
