It's amazing to think that God so orders our lives, our biology, our human interactions, our experiences, the knowledge we aquire during our lives, in such a way that when we write, we write exactly what needs to be said.
wow! the best description of God's process for giving old and new testament prophecies and how biblical doctrines were providentially developed in the early church. What a wise man! Thank you for continuing to share Dr. Heiser's videos! Such a gift
One of The Most Effectual Individuals to Grace Us w/His Presence and Allow Us a More Meaningful Relationship w/God !!! Thanks Mike - We Will Forever Be Grateful!
I could not agree more. What happens in too many cases is we substitute superstition for faith and never understand that we are doing it. And then we wonder why it's not "working"? (Is. 58 "Why have we fasted and Thou seest it not?" Is. 58: 3)
I love how Francis Schaeffer put it in one of his books, and I suspect Michael would agree, were he still with us: God, through men, told us about Himself truthfully and accurately, but not exhaustively.
Are the flat earthers here? I want to be entertained 😂 Seriously though, Dr. Heiser was amazing. What a great understanding of scripture he had. R. I .P
Doctinal development sort of reminds me of a parent explaining something to a child a bit at a time, more as they grow older...like the facts of life...lol
The Lord Jesus doubles down on his claim of divine Sonship and Not being a mere human like they are. He is in the Father and the Father is in Him. They are ONE.
"I long to be zapped." Says the inner Thomas. Oh Lord, how long must we endure? The physical is not my meaning, but your presence for adoration and awe! So we may stop leaning. My spine is as wilted palm branches piled near gehennas flames. Help us! Oh our Lord, please don't find me to blame.
Hi there. I want to know an answer to this and how to explain it when a pastor or Sunday School teacher ends up dealing with these jaded theologians that are not believers or act like it. I feel I at times a battle with this at a lot of churches who are hostile to those types of people. Heiser I find is not one of them. It's just hard to find a church where it's mentally stimulating sermon and instead they just buck, holler, and are enthusiastic over the pulpit. It's just this anti-intellectual mindset church leaders and laiety has and I want to articulate it in a way that they are incorrect and should intellectualize scripture. I think my area mostly struggles with poverty, "reverse racism" if I can dare say that, drugs, and misunderstandings of scriptures like in songs that take it out of context. One of them I think is fear and how to approach fear and anxiety better, because it sounds like certain people in churches stuff their feelings down that are negative. But I like to be mentally prepared to challenge an atheist, agnostic, unbeliever, etc. I wouldn't be able to go to seminary due to finances, and not knowing what to use it for since that is hard field to get into as a woman or how to use it to make money.
Even God said “come let us reason” and then presented an argument. The entirety of Ecclesiastes is a philosophical argument about the meaning of life. Paul used both philosophical and psychological arguments to support the theological arguments concerning Christ, living for Christ, etc. There is no such thing as anti-intellectualism in the Bible. That’s on the same plane as “Blind Faith” beliefs. If Christ had not lived, died and rose again, what would we believe in? I’m pretty certain that Jesus, His life and His teachings are all evidence that there’s a God and He can do whatever He promises to do, and Has done, is doing and will continue to do so. We don’t believe because a really old book says we should. We believe because Jesus proved that the entirety of the really old book is absolutely true. That’s not blind faith. That’s trust in the Truth! That’s not anti-intellectualism, that’s reason and responsibility from a True theological foundation. But I digress.
What you need is an Episcopal Church, where they don't ask you to leave your brain outside and they teach that faith rests on a tripod of scripture, tradition and reason.
If God is not in the kingdom of death, what about Psalm 139,verse 8? I only have a Bible in Norwegian, so l do not know what your American Bibles say. Is God everywhere or not? I'm not a scholar in this. Just wondering, cause one preacher says this and another that, and l need to know whom to listen to.

I appreciate Mike with all my heart! Thank you Lord for the time we have. I love You 🤍

I concur. There's a palpable old timer anti intellectual vibe.
