Wonderful explanation! Extremely accurate word by word. My Neptune squares and opposes my husband's Mercury, Jupiter, Asc & X Mc ... we love each other unconditionally. I can see how we idealize each other and believe we are "the one". As the Neptun person, that feeling that he can't live without me or the high expectations he has from me is overwhelming. I feel pressured to rise up to his expectations and not disappoint and crush his world.
I truly believe that Neptune shows up in a situation/relationship where two people are not fit for each other (age gap, social level, culture, religion, looks, etc.) but the attraction/infatuation is so strong that they can't help but go for it ... even though deep down, if they faced reality, they know they aren't a good fit. I am saying this because I had 2 other relationships with heavy Neptune aspects to Moon, Mercury, Saturn, Mars ... they ended because of those exact reasons ... after years. I don't think the Neptune aspects ended those relationships, but the other Synastry and Composite aspects that made us incompatible in the long run ... opposed to the situation with my husband.
I recommend you do a Synastry, Composite, Verdic, everything from Cafe Astrology's website to see the dynamic of your relationship. Only then you'll have an idea what is going on, opposed to looking at one aspect alone.

I appreciate your appreciation. I am often accused of being negatively biased against Neptune. There are two sides, the delusional and the unconditional. The delusional often disguises itself as unconditional love. Twin flame and soul mate astrologers hate me deeply for showing up and blowing their bullshit out of the water...I’ll continue to do so.

Personnally I've experienced some Neptunian relationships that implied illusion, but I also have long lasting bonds in my current life with some friends, whom Neptune is conjunct some of my personnal planets, and I really feel this soulmate bonds with them, that survived many conflicts and periods of distanciation. For this ones, there's no codependency, but a real appreciation of who the other person is, and the beautiful things we shared together.
I think we can't say that soulmates/twin flames stories are "bullshits", when we can see that a lot of people really experience this deep links in their lives. Unconditional love between humans does exists, but yes, we must take the time to truly identify it.
i have had so many neptunian squares in my synastry & composite with a man i fell hardly in love with (or i thought fell in love).. it sucked out of my energy big times... i was the personal planet, and he was the neptune... there was something in the relationship that made him being elusive, started mind games, manipulated & took advantage of me. but in that stage of life, i was lack of healthy boundary so i let him did that to me (subconsciously)... i am glad i have been through that painful relationship. i think it was such a good learning experience... because after that, i evolved and become someone truly different.
Gacanti Swastika That sounds Plutonic, not Neptune. Its hard to tell which aspect killed your relationship cause its never 1 aspect that makes of breaks your relationship.

Boundaries are easily dissolved with Neptune & it presents itself very safe because of the projecting. Plutionic relationships have an underlining controlling theme & very intense, it’s transformative in nature too.
I think the thing that stands out is in Neptunian themed relationships is that there is self deception & deception from the partner. In Plutonic relationships you’re more aware of the negative but you are magnetized to it & you want the intensity. Plutonic themes unearths that what is within & brings it to the surface it’s not a projection but something that we deny - and for good cause mostly.

Neptune is the second planet that dominates my chart the most apparently after Venus.
I don't get infatutated very often but when I do it's often a recipie for disaster ... I tend to dissolve my boundaries too much and bleed out till I dry up just like you said... and eventually I start to build up this rage just waiting to burst out almost randomly... and even with me trying to contain it, which is super frustrating to do, it still comes off as extremely excessive and out of the blue and I just end up feeling really sour and completely misunderstood and crazy.
I really do take a step back now and know it's just infatuation and that it will pass.
I'm actually starting to have an aversion to situations that present themselves as more than what they truly are.
I'm trying to do something similar in the moment. Trying not to throw out all my boundaries for someone I projected my future upon in the early stages of interacting, became infactuated with & barely even know, anyway.
I have Neptune in the First house and a lot of water in my chart and I resonated with this a lot! Now I can take a step back after so many years of life. I have to worry about getting totally sick of the thing and cutting it off. Have to remind myself to be more grounded, realistic, and nice about it all once I see I am in that Neptunian phase again - and be getting taken for a ride while I want to delude myself otherwise.
I hope all of you are doing ok in your relationships. My chart is Neptune heavy too and I’m realizing that I’ve never been really in love in my life. I set myself up so many times. At my 35 years of age, in my day to day life, I take the conscious effort to ground myself, talk to myself out loud alone, and see situations for what they are. I journal my thoughts if I think I’m getting out of control in my delusions😅 I also don’t take drugs or drink.

I think Neptune may manifest less destructively if the individuals are generally compatible: neither I nor my current partner are Neptunian individuals, but in our synastry we both have our Neptunes squaring each other's Sun (in my case) and Moon (in his case). Our composite has Neptune in 1st House conjunct Venus in Sagittarius, making harmonious aspects only. In our case, I think it has manifested itself in the form of us having to go through mutual losses (supporting each other during death & sickness of family members) and also waiting a long time for immigration issues to be sorted out before actually being able to be together. With him, I also started enjoying wine and he resumed his singing hobby that he had quit for years. We also swim a lot together and travel almost only to places close to the sea.

Plus I'm already very Neptune influenced in my own chart already and the men I've experienced this with were Neptunian as well. It is like being under water floating in your own world...or fishbowl....because everyone else sees you two clearly but you don't see yourselves. We have some small wonderful placements in composite + 1 essential grounding placement in composite but wow - I can definitely see the themes of self delusion and some others you had listed. A two sided Neptune aspect on each side here, and she is 12th house dominant and Pisces Venus. I will run a mile next time, CONFUSION CONFUSION CONFUSION, completely destabalising and exhausting.
My Mum and Dad’s Neptune squares my Venus which is my ascendant Sun and Mercury ruler and Mars which is my 7th house ruler. It’s interesting that for all three of us we have our Neptune inconjunct Venus. I noticed that whatever hard aspects I have with my parents and step parents is reflected in my own chart and in my synastry aspects with others, Hard aspects and planets are here to teach us . I won’t run away anymore .

Your explanation makes so much sense in my confusion. I have natal Neptune on my descendant and I'm always afraid I'm dellusional in relationships. But then the composite and synastry always involve Neptune enhanced, so it's not just me. This one guy has his Saturn opposite my Neptune and in the composite we have Sun opposite the Neptune/Mars conjunction. Big time confusion for the both of us!
I am the neptunian person and I always wanted the other person to see me for who I am. I never lied, I always told everything about me and kept it real. And I also never thought this person was the 'one' - in fact, there is a lot of options that that person does that I simply do not follow because they are not for me.
Now... I cannot answer for them, unfortunately. Since their sun and venus are opposite my Neptune, maybe they are a cheater and I have no idea. Or maybe they are idealizing me - despite the fact that I fight the idealization every day - and I also have no idea because they are not telling.
The oppositing are only in the synastry and not on the composite, though. In the composite there are not opposites nor squares to Neptune. In synastry is enough though. Since I hate Neptune so much it made me sad to see it opposite the other person's sun and Venus. It is what it is, though.

I have Saturn squaring his sun so I never thought the Neptune person was the one because I always found something wrong with him lol it in turn made him very deceptive and hide to keep trying to get me to see him a certain way. I always felt attached to him until I found out what he hid. He felt vulnerable to my Saturn and wanted out lol one of the only times I've loved Saturn lol
Her Venus is opposing my Neptune and I am super honest and interested in the reality like you in your description. I have no idea if she is idealizing me, at least I am not idealizing her or the relationship. But I do have to admit that I sometimes have problems to stick to my boundaries with her, whereas I have no problems with boundaries towards other people.
Very onesided. It depends a lot on the rest of the charts individually and together not to mention the maturity and groundedness of the people. Can be very good for earthy types, for instance. I know plenty of people having been together for years with these bindings.

lol I love you so much, i used to think it was a plutonic relationship but I think it is more neptunian than plutonic. It can be both because there is also prominent pluto. My sun, venus, jupiter and mercury falls in his 12th house in synastry. And there are trines and sextiles to personal planets in synastry. Neptune conjunct Jupiter in synastry. And composite neptune conjunct uranus, saturn, mars and trine moon.

We have lots of positve and negative neptune and pluto aspects both in synastry and composite. but here's a thought: what if we have a trine and sextile between neptune and saturn in the synastry, does it help balance the illusion factor and keep it in check? Also, there's a huge age gap between us, does it translate that way?

Mmmm he lied and hid a lot. The only reason it wasn't entirely self deception was because my Saturn squared his sun so there was a constant reality check 😂 there was always that ethereal feeling though until some point. That's why I love Saturn sometimes.
When I found out the truth about what he hid and lied about he wanted out lol because he couldn't deceive me any more lol he was having a hard Saturn transit during that time.
Saturn has saved me from a lot of trouble with that one lol

With neptune in capricorn i natally have neptune conjunct mars my venus is also ib capricorn. Idk. I just feel like the neptuninan influence in synastry is a littpe outdated with my generation born 1991. No matter what someone is apways touching our neptune.
Since Neptune squares Mars in my Natal chart, and Neptune moves so slowly, most people in my generation will also square my Mars with their Neptune. Clearly this is an issue I will most likely have to overcome on a personal level (and may find relief from in the composite chart) - do you have any recommendations on how to approach this? I really appreciate your grounded approach to relationships.
+Grace Lewis Dating outside your generation is really the only option to dealing with this in synastry. The strength and difficulty of it will be helped or hampered by how you are dealing it in your own character. All you can do is work on you. That's all any of us should be doing anyway.
it just came to my attention the other day that i tend to attract a lot of people with neptune in their 1h and it conjuncts to my ascendant (my moon in the 10h is my chart ruler). i am constantly being idealized and once i show parts of myself aside from how i present myself people become disappointed when i don’t live up to their expectations. it’s tiring because i am constantly being misunderstood

Had worse heartbreak 3 years ago and im the sun person while he was neptune. I still can't get over it because he promised soo much that it is till hard to realize that he was lying. Its so damn hurtful. And yet it seems like i keep attracting same kind of relationships. I starting researching on this neptune thing and found your description spot on. (i am a capricorn zodiac and he was virgo) and i realize that it was also me getting blinded and failing to see why it was never going to work.

We have Neptune conjunct Mercury & other Neptune aspects, loose conjunction to ascendant, trines & sextiles, no squares & 1 opposition to Jupiter in synastry. neither he nor I are deceptive. I missed communication from him at an important stage of our relationship, not seeing he reached out to me & I thought he was ignoring me & I went off from that. but I apologized, he forgave me & now we just know we have to communicate clearly & make sure the other understands. we have great other aspects with sun, venus, moon, jupiter, mars & saturn. we are over 40, mature & grounded. I would only fear if we had squares. look at the whole chart, not just Neptune. we've been together 1 year.

I have my God damn venus and sun in ascendant and my uranus and neptune in descendant...moon conjunct pluto in the 5th...the relationship i attract has all these planets in conjunction or opposite or trine with either partner's personal planets or my personal planets are in aspect to their outer planets...wtf i can do to have healthy relationship?
I often wonder what to do in these type situations. Do you completely cut out a person who you share these aspects with - When you can pick up on this energy that is actually prohibiting you personally but is so sweet - Or do you see it through to the bitter end. Only to be drawn in by the illusion again at some point in the future.

I had 2 of these back to back. One Mars square Neptune and one Sun conjunct Neptune. They were both EXACT 0 degree orbs. I was the Mars in the 1st one and Neptune in the 2nd one and both times I thought I was in love 🤦♀️

It was sooooooo perfect until yesterday. A true fairytale that came crashing down after 5 weeks. I found out he was hooked on pills and was lying about it a lot. A true addict who hides is SOOOOO well and is successful. I kicked him out. It’s so hard but all his 12th house placements in sun, moon, and mercury. That’s a hard life. I'm looking at synastry which has exact squares of Neptune to the Moon and Sun between the two people but in their composite chart Neptune is conjunct descendant with only 'harmonious' aspects, trines and sextile to Moon, Mars, Mercury, Sun.... Wouldn't that be their saving grace?

Yes, but what can you do? Some experiences are meant to be. I am in One of those, i have already started to be in the delusional parte, since i have already started to focus some aspects of him i dont really like and mostly i am not able to cope with. And this is my sucking it up part. I no longer see any "perfection". I find myself struggling because, still, there is a good part in him, and mostly i find it impossibile to break, at least willingly, the emotional bond ( in sinastry his NN is exactly conjunct my moon). Maybe there is a lesson se can learn here. When the expectations are over we can still work with what sas remained, and this can be who really se have in front and mostly who we really are. What do you think?
Really nice way to think about it. I connected with someone immediately but our chart is heavily neptunian but I can’t stop the connection so maybe i shouldn’t run away from it just because of the chart but maybe I should just stop myself from creating high expectations and also make room for being disappointed, that way I can eventually get to see him for who he really is and then I can really decide if I wanna pursue or not

I am about to enter the Neptune fog. It's not completely that way however. We have a ton of Uranus and Pluto aspects. I think where the attraction is settled is way more sexual then ether one if us would like to admit.
I agree with another person on here that age gap plays a part. I am the older person here. I am also the Neptune one, the object of desire. Still, I can feel that this other person is hot for what I represent and my body, but they don't get the real me. How can they, we just met about a month ago.

What does a composite Venus sextile Neptune do/feel like?
I had met somebody and he gave me his birth time we have a really strong connection we talked about marriage and babies right away like.......immediately. We have lots of lots and lots of Pluto in our synastry and lots of Neptune. Mostly sextiles, trines and conjunctions a few tough square and oppositions most the chart looks good. But this mental obsession needs to stop.
It can work very well if the people involved are conscious and grounded, then it's a good thing to have in an otherwise harsh world, for instance. Very compassionate.

Yes!! Especially if the Saturn person is the inner planet person in the neptune connection. It kept me from falling into his claws no matter how much I idealized him something wasn't right (saturn lol) and he didn't manipulate me as much because he felt like I criticized everything he did. Looking back I'm glad because he was really just trying to use me for sex and money.
