Loved this episode, it was so nice we got to see what happend in the loops where he dies, i always thought he just goes back in time to a point where he’s alive, not jump to another reality. Hope we see more of this in the final episode of the first half of season 2 next week. After that oof 3 month wait for the second half.
I know Emilia would react like that but I wasn’t ready...it hurt my soul to see her that way. Also Subaru saying “this one is already dead” or something like that shows how disconnected he is to his other lives
I disagree with the multi-verse theory because that would mean each universe where Subaru dies would be a universe where Satella is left alone to morn the death of her love, why would she do that to her self. If the multi-verse theory is true, then after the first episode where Satella gifted this power to Subaru, the moment he dies, the original Satella which gifted that power would suddenly lose her Subaru, and some other Satella split off from the original timeline now has the original Subaru. So It just makes more sense that time is reversed instead, in that way, Satella will always have the original Subaru, and can see his journey.
I agree. I think its far more likely that she granted the ability to send Subarus memories back in time. That would require far less power than changing universes. Also wouldnt the Subaru in that universe also have RTBD? What do Subarus just keep pinballing around the infinite universes trying to find a Subaru that doesnt have RTBD and has the same time period?
Another interesting concept I find is that instead of going back in time, what is really happening is he is “vivid dreaming” a possible future. So vivid he can’t determine if it’s reality or not. Basically when he “dies” it’s not he going back to the past but just waking up with the knowledge of a possible future.
@@dragonnsv9710 Steins;Gate isn´t something like that if i remember correctly? The protagonist can send back his memories over and over as he tries to prevent the death of his friends.
So u saying there is a universe that there is a Subaru who is like naruto that can clone himself and actually have a happy ending being anywhere if the multiverses thory is real

Man I've seen your videos in the past and never really liked your content, but with the hitting of season 2 of this show, which is pretty much my favorite one, I came back and see your perspectives have really evolved a lot! You have my respect, amazing analysis videos
I find Echidna to be somewhat tragic in her relation to Subaru She is such a neutral entity; selfish beyond measure, with 1 thing separating her from being a very good force in Subaru's life Empathy. If she could only understand emotion, and consider how Subaru feels As was said, what she does is all calculated, and what she proposes certainly seems good on paper. She has it in her head that it will be good for Subaru, but as a fact, just information, not something that comes from the heart. The dividing factor is whether or not she 'means' it. To know it AND feel it. She is so close to being a full person, and that is a little heartbreaking Still best girl tho
Subaru: There's absolutely nothing you could offer to mak me sign a contract! Echidna: How about my _body_ Subaru: *Gulp* Y-you drive a hard bargain. Are you sure you're not the Witch of Lust? Carmilla: P-please don't mislabel my title. Minerva: My fists shall fix that perverse heart of yours!

Emilia: I love you Subaru Subaru: NO! Emilia would never say that! Rem: You can rest now Subaru-kun Subaru: NO! Rem would never say that! poor boy, isnt he?
It's kinda weird that I can say this is an amazing season when it's basically about a guy suffering over and over again. And it's getting to a point where he is losing his sanity and humanity.
Stella Entrance Reminds Me So Much Of The Undertaker. Also As A DC Fan This Episode Reminds Me So Much Of How People Goes Through When They Enter Darkseid’s Anti-Life Equation And Omega Sanction.
One detail that supports the theory of him moving onto another timeline is that people say he is talking normally and then just goes blank and stops talking and then he starts acting weird and back to normal
As much as I get Echidna's greed for knowledge and that curiosity, really goes to show that it stunts her emotional output. Like...(Re) Zero output of true emotion. I wish I could write such fascinating characters like her and Roswaal. Oh well, still find her adorable even if deviously so. ☕ still no on the tea though, I'll take chamomile please. Wait so If Subaru Actually dosnt return in time ...... It means that his return by death Just teleports him to another isekai world similar to the original....... So Subaru gets constantly isekaid to other worlds when he dies? Now thats some isekaiception
@Jimi Tzimaki If when Subaru dies he creates other timelines then Satella's objectives would never become real so relax, Subaru's powers just erase the future that would become real. This was and will be heavly implied in the next episode LN and WN
This episode is amazing! I can't believe how this show keeps surpassing itself episode after episode! P.S. Satella coming at the end to retake best girl throne was the best cliffhanger, I can't wait!
I’m happy I allowed to watch season one and season two together but I now keep watching season one and season two because I really wanna watch season three
After yesterday's episode, I like Echidna more as a character. Yeah she manipulated Subaru through sweet words, but she never once said that she was good. Can't wait to see Satella next episode.
Well like he described in those moments where he is completely broken down and vulnerable Subaru thinks of Rem to comfort him as he doesn't want Emillia to see such a side of him it would embarrass him otherwise.
Maybe, I'm too chaotic neutral myself, but I can't bring myself to see Echidona as evil. She's certainly no good, but she apparently is less willfully ignoring other people's needs, than being genuinely struggling to understand them as she's too far detached from such mundane things herself... Moreover, if she's actually driven by her sin, how much can she be held accountable?
I was laughing so hard when the internet went crazy with: "Echidna best girl". But can we take a moment to consider how horrible Subaru's trial where he saw all his previous death's were? I mean he never thought about it if he was going to different timelines like in Steins;Gate. And it's horrible to see the people you tried to protect heartbroken after your death and not be able to do anything. I mean it's worst! Worst than anything up till now (not considering the rabbit.. Lol). But the fact that he had to witness that maybe all those other world's could be in utter chaos right now is horrifying. Re:Zero stay's true to their characters. Keep the lowest low.
Honestly I would think besides obvious trauma this would bolster Subaru's resolve to not so easily consider dying to redo and take advantage of RBD like Rosswal and Echidna want him to because that guilt of possibly leaving them behind will push him to act even more carefully. He'll hold onto his humanity more.
The point of showing the rabbit was Subaru realized that the great rabbit ate all his friends within the sanctuary, making him go through the same anguish over his weakness
I too was confused at the number of people jumping on the Echidna bandwagon. No one ever seems to stop and consider ulterior motives for "nice" actions, even from obviously shady people like Echidna. I guess all it takes is a pretty face, some -calculated- acts of kindness (devoid of actual empathy), and some cute posturing for the simps to come out of the woodwork. I presume Emilia's trial involves her turning into Satella and watching herself murder everybody. This is her "unthinkable present" that is a manifestation of her deepest subconscious fear.
Seriously, Subaru realizing he might never see his parents again and how they might feel about it was sad enough. The sheer possibility that all these failed realities still might happen without him there is a whole nother dimension of sad. Edit: Also with Satella now being there, he may might even ask her if these realities are still real... problem with that, even if she where to not lie to him and not even want to answer his question, Subaru would certainly have to assume the worst.
I really hope you cover the if stories, they are so damn interesting and really put into perspective how easy it is for everything to change drastically over 1 decision.
Not necessarily. Whether you do evil things with good intentions or good things with evil intentions, you're evil. Those two things are just two different sides of the same coin. Everybody has a different concept of 'evil' based on their views on morality. From my observations, it's impossible for anyone to be truly 'good' as everyone has committed some degree of evil. Whether or not one is aware of their inner evil is dependent on their self awareness, wisdom and shame.
i feel it makes more sense if Roswaal made a contract with Echidna, that would explain the gospel... so that gospel's content is written by echidna since she has been watching Subaru from the start, that also explains what Roswaal meant by "becoming like him"... making a contract. Also could explain why the sanctuary is in Roswaal's property, Bea being with him, having the forbidden library, etc... i don't know if he made a contract with her, but if so, explains a TON of things ^^U
It's probably both. Though I'd wager that Roswaal's family in general made some sort of deal with Echidna, since the Tome and everything else has been passed down for generations.
Echidna can never be evil in my eyes psychopaths can't tell how humans think/feel in my eyes evil is knowingly doing the wrong thing Echidna cant tell what is good or bad she is not a good person i know this BUT SHE IS NOT EVIL.
I am basically a masochist, considering my favorite part of the anime adaptation from season 1 until now are these god damn amazing title drops and cliffhangers. I live for this weekly.
@vincent 2 problems 1. I don't know where to find translations to any arcs besides arc 1, 4, 5, and 6 2. I haven't been this invested in a series since the Warrior Cats books in 4th grade and maybe Kill la Kill when I was getting into anime. I'm impatient as fuck and currently disappointed at how much slower I am at reading compared to my 4th grade self.
i believe the biggest issue is that because shes so detached, even if subaru succeeded in a goal, she is likely to cause / force him to reset to see if she can achieve the same result through different means theoretically forcing subaru into an infinite loop until her thirst / desire is sated.
We tried to tell y’all Echidna wasn’t what she seemed, hell even she told him. Also why does the host refuse to pronounce her name correctly? At this point he’s just being stubborn and antagonistic
Sorry if this might be long, but those that think it's worth, hear me out: I happened to see - spoil mysefl, I guess - the LN illustration to Echidna's two facets a while back when I was looking for pics of her, so I had a lot of expectations for when she finnaly would reveal herself, not only because of that pic but because of the way they always cued that she had hidden objectives, and, oh boy..... I can't express how much they surpassed my expectations with that monologue, from voice acting to the camera angles, and how all ties perfectly to the themes and cues they have been given since the least tea party - for instance, the immortality part or the similarity she has with subaru, to the point he says to Ryuzu that she is kind of a kindred spirit of his thanks to both being ton simmilar grounds. It was so beautiful and masterfully done - and honestly, far better than the illustration -, I don't even remember when was the last time an anime caused such an impression on me. Echdina is such a fascinating character, and the way they slowly developed her revelation up to this climax is something I won't forget in a long time. Not only that but they finally entertained the possibility of thw world continuing without Subaru made me really glad: ever since his death when Betelgeuse took his body last minute - the one he techinnally came closer to that point of achieving victory in that arc - when the last segment showed his screaming interrupting and Emilia heading towards the forest to check him out, I began to think about what of the people that didn't die. Feels good to have such a long standing itch scratched hahaha Season 2 has already beaten Season 1 for me - and that's from someone who felt Season 1 was a masterpiece on itself Edit: (Just show how far that lasting impression goes, I ended up getting far more into Echdina as a character, and yes, as Waifu status updated, and yes, I now she is nuts, than after the bunny episode, which was already something. Yeah, you guys can judge me alright, but I simp - more than before, at least - for Dona now, YES, SPECIALLY, NOW! AFTER THIS EPISODE!)
Also, Echidna is truly something. I like how all the witches joined together at one place and talk with Subaru. Especially when "she" showed up in the end. I'm curious to know what else will happen now.
Another fantastic episode, I have been looking forward to seeing all the witches at some point. I wouldn't have been happy with this first half of the season if we didn't get to meet the others. Would have been totally bummed out.

no, just the witch of envy since that's her split personality from being incompatible with the witch gene. And since the witches could not identify which personality was in front of them, they would not act.
Loved this episode, it was so nice we got to see what happend in the loops where he dies, i always thought he just goes back in time to a point where he’s alive, not jump to another reality.
Hope we see more of this in the final episode of the first half of season 2 next week. After that oof 3 month wait for the second half.
Jimi Tzimaki well it’s honestly up for debate weather there are different dimensions
Holy shit. Personifying “lust” as taking the form of the person they need in the moment*... is a brilliant metaphor for it.
What if I tell you that her existence is above time and there is only a single Satella and not multiple as you said in your comment...
So u saying there is a universe that there is a Subaru who is like naruto that can clone himself and actually have a happy ending being anywhere if the multiverses thory is real

I find Echidna to be somewhat tragic in her relation to Subaru
She is such a neutral entity; selfish beyond measure, with 1 thing separating her from being a very good force in Subaru's life
Empathy. If she could only understand emotion, and consider how Subaru feels
As was said, what she does is all calculated, and what she proposes certainly seems good on paper. She has it in her head that it will be good for Subaru, but as a fact, just information, not something that comes from the heart. The dividing factor is whether or not she 'means' it. To know it AND feel it. She is so close to being a full person, and that is a little heartbreaking
Still best girl tho
She is Sociopathic/Psychopathic.

Actually dosnt return in time ......
It means that his return by death
Just teleports him to another isekai world similar to the original.......
So Subaru gets constantly isekaid to other worlds when he dies?
Now thats some
isekaiception
Wow, that means subaru has a dozen isekai animes published by now
It’s a big IF tho.....it wasn’t actually confirmed
@Jimi Tzimaki If when Subaru dies he creates other timelines then Satella's objectives would never become real so relax, Subaru's powers just erase the future that would become real. This was and will be heavly implied in the next episode LN and WN
It's likely that is not actually the case. Just like how the events of the first trial (parents) never really happened...

"When my boy Subaru almost kissed Rem but didn't" : noooo!
"It isn't actually Rem" : NOOOO!!!!!!!
I find it interesting Carmilla became Rem and not Emilia. Since she’s the witch of Lust, she takes the form of someone he loves.
Prolly due to the fact that subconsciously Subaru is still shook by his last few loops with Crazy Emilia and possessed Emilia.
Well like he described in those moments where he is completely broken down and vulnerable Subaru thinks of Rem to comfort him as he doesn't want Emillia to see such a side of him it would embarrass him otherwise.
I think it was more so who you want to see most. And rem is gone currently so i see why it's not Emilia since she hasn't gone anywhere
He's always loved Rem. The anime skipped over their relationship in season 1
@@Rexpart wdym?
Maybe, I'm too chaotic neutral myself, but I can't bring myself to see Echidona as evil. She's certainly no good, but she apparently is less willfully ignoring other people's needs, than being genuinely struggling to understand them as she's too far detached from such mundane things herself...
Moreover, if she's actually driven by her sin, how much can she be held accountable?
there must be lots of "approaching me" meme after end of this episode.
Steins gate isn’t different timelines lol
I too was confused at the number of people jumping on the Echidna bandwagon. No one ever seems to stop and consider ulterior motives for "nice" actions, even from obviously shady people like Echidna. I guess all it takes is a pretty face, some -calculated- acts of kindness (devoid of actual empathy), and some cute posturing for the simps to come out of the woodwork. I presume Emilia's trial involves her turning into Satella and watching herself murder everybody. This is her "unthinkable present" that is a manifestation of her deepest subconscious fear.
@@Zarastro54 I thought she never got past the first trial?
The tea party had to be the weirdest episode of Jerry Springer I’ve ever seen. Especially with Satella pulling up like she did lol
Echidna never did anything out of malicious intent so in my book she isn't evil. Just well a witch
Read greed If she’s evil bro she even flat out admits it twice.

When puck said “you can only be a hero”, I interpret it as “I have no choice. Do your duty as a hero and end me”
To me it feels like most of the characters we know have no free will, or at least dont think that they do...
Sorry if this might be long, but those that think it's worth, hear me out:
I happened to see - spoil mysefl, I guess - the LN illustration to Echidna's two facets a while back when I was looking for pics of her, so I had a lot of expectations for when she finnaly would reveal herself, not only because of that pic but because of the way they always cued that she had hidden objectives, and, oh boy.....
Feels good to have such a long standing itch scratched hahaha
Season 2 has already beaten Season 1 for me - and that's from someone who felt Season 1 was a masterpiece on itself
Edit: (Just show how far that lasting impression goes, I ended up getting far more into Echdina as a character, and yes, as Waifu status updated, and yes, I now she is nuts, than after the bunny episode, which was already something. Yeah, you guys can judge me alright, but I simp - more than before, at least - for Dona now, YES, SPECIALLY, NOW! AFTER THIS EPISODE!)
Subaru really cock-blocked himself when Echidana offered her body and everything at his disposal and he rejected it. His mind is truly broken.
No, hes just not as shallow to accept a pact just because echidana wants to offer herself for his power
Echinda has offered her body, but the questions is what body, tehnicaly she is dead
Also, Echidna is truly something. I like how all the witches joined together at one place and talk with Subaru. Especially when "she" showed up in the end. I'm curious to know what else will happen now.
