Thanks Savoy555 for a great train pick. One of my honey's favorites back in the day, he named his wolf/husky mix dog Savoy. Loved their later work, especially. Great reaction L33. yup guitar needed to be louder, but very good, rock on! Blessings and joy to all.
This band went through many variations and members. They had some really great vocalists through the years. But the one constant was guitar player/ song writer Kim Simmonds until his passing in 2022. RIP Kim Simmonds and Lonesome Dave 🙏 Street Corner Talkin Wang Dang Doodle Made Up My Mind I'm Tired Needle And Spoon
I wish I had time to fill my life with music. I listen to a lot of jazz and classical cause we have good local radio stations. To relive great rock and pop and soul and Afrobeat (what else?)I depend on Lee and you guys so muchas gracias, estoy muy blanco
Another great British blues band and very underrated. If I recall correctly 3 former members of Savoy Brown, Dave Peverett, Tony Stevens and Roger Earl created Foghat. If you get a chance check out Savoy Brown's "All I Can Do".
Definitely gotta hit Tell Mama. Kim Simmons was a very underrated guitarist & kept Savoy Brown going up until he passed, I think two years ago. Got to see him once at a blues festival & he was fantastic. Johnny Winter was the headliner & was still killing it even though he was very frill at the time.
Oh, God. Savoy Brown. My only memory of them: they were backing up the Doobie Brothers at the ertstwhile Cape Cod Coliseum, wanna say 1977/8. The crowd was stoked. Savoy Brown starts the show, fans cheering. But after the third song (they all sounded the same) you could notice the crowd's enthusiasm really drop off. After the fourth song, it got downright angry. Sh*t started being thrown at the stage, and a frisbee struck one of the guitars. I hate to say it, but it was hilarious. All the while, you could see the Doobie's road crew scrambling backstage to get set up. Ultimately, Brown was boo'ed off the stage. Wild. Just wild.
Funny, I had a similar experience on Valentines day 1974, went to see Gentle Giant open for Alvin Lee. After a few songs GG left the stage under a barrage of Valentine hearts thrown at the stage by the blues lovers assembled. Kind of ruined the show for me.
One of my favorite bands back in the early 70s they played everywhere. My favorite incarnation of savoy Brown was when Dave Walker was the lead singer. You really want to check out street corner talking has many great songs on it as does the rest of this album.
I have requested several reactors listen to this song over the last 5 years and no one reacted to it so I gave up. Thank you for reacting to this great song. Savoy Brown made several albums, all with great music.
I was Privileged to have seen Kim Simmonds with his last iteration of Savoy Brown -Pat Desalvo on bass and Garnett Grimm on drums, 3 times between 2012 and 2016, at an intimate venue of about 500 max in Minneapolis. It was very cool to be able to sit 30 feet away from someone that I consider to be one of the guitar gods of the 60s & 70s while he and his band just took us on journeys deep into the blues/rock realm of existence..
I saw them on that same trip. Tiny club maybe 100 people. Started at 9:00 we had to leave at Midnight. The reviewer for the newspaper said when the bar closed at 2am the owner locked the door and they played until 5am. I still regret leaving. Kim is so good and the vocals were amazing.
If you want a great example of their live show, find their album A Step Further. The entire side 2 is their Savoy Brown Boogie, performed live in a London club back in '69.
Great band. Lots of cool songs. I like their Looking In album (epic cover art). Title song, Leaving Again are some highlights. Another popular banger is Tell Mama.
Dave Walker on vocals. He replaced Ozzy Osbourne in Black Sabbath and wrote some of the lyrics on Never Say Die before Ozzy decided to come back. Junior's Eyes was re-written because Ozzy wouldn't sing it and Breakout originally had lyrics but turned into an instrumental because of the same reason. The last song Swinging The Chains had drummer Bill Ward singing.
My first band played 'Street Corner Talking'. Bassist, his GF and I went to see them at the famous El Mocambo in Toronto, got booted for smoking hash at our table stageside. Oops 😬 💫😂😗💨 🖖🏼😁🎶❤️🍁❤️🎄🥃✨️🕊
How could I have forgotten these guys? That won't happen again. That's going on my playlist. Yes ... all train songs are good songs.

A great band overlooked. Kim killed
This was a helluva entrance to the channel... came in on the hellbound train... I dig it. What other tracks should I check out by them??
All I Can Do and Tell Mama.

Thanks, Savoy, for recommending this one. I haven’t heard it in years and it’s bringing back some great memories
That was the DVD version, on the original vinyl the song ends like someone cut the tape, or perhaps the train had arrived so everything you know ends

Thank you, Savoy555, a nice rolling energy.
This is a very underappreciated group. Props to the requester.
They are not recognized like they should be but to be honest they changed a lot personnel-wise.
Thank you for getting to this band I have been a long time fan they have a deep library so enjoy please listen to SundayNight it's a good one peace 😊

Train Songs? "Mystery Train" paul butterfield and the band from the Last Waltz. Butterfield - premier harmonica player and blues singer.
This one is in rotation at my place.
Good stuff

After City of New Orleans maybe the best damn train song ever written.
Foghat was born out this band
Time travel is real and it is on your channel, Lee ❤
They do a great version of 'Can't Get Next To You' from the Street Talkin' album.
Looking in is a great album and title track.
Great song! 🎶🛤️🚂🎶 Thanks Savoy555 & L33! ☮️❤️🎶
Oh yeah it’s a train song

Saw them years ago great a lot of people thought they were second to TYA
Now we need to see some tracks from Street Corner Talkin'
Saw them do this live when it came out. I couldn't believe how mesmerizing and intense the hi-hat was.
More Savoy Brown please Savoy555
It’s coming next month

Check out Tell Mama Street Corner Talkin. 3 of the members went on to form Foghat
"Savoy Brown Boogie" and their hit " I'm Tired!"

I saw these guys open for Judas Priest in 1981!

One of those bands that seems to have been forgotten to time that never should have. Rare Earth is another one.
"I'm tired" is a great track
If you want a great example of their live show, find their album A Step Further. The entire side 2 is their Savoy Brown Boogie, performed live in a London club back in '69.
A couple members went in to form Foghat

I think foghat came from 1 or 2 early SB band members.
best Savoy Brown songs are "I Can't Get Next To You",,Time Does Tell,Street Corner Talking, just FYI
Paul Raymond went onto join UFO on the keys.
Hell yeah. Savoy Brown ranks high in the begats... Bands like Foghat and Bad Co. owe them a lot.
Foghat does not owe them anything. Three of the members from Savoy Brown formed Foghat.
@dianecurtiss7415 that's a debt in my book, but it's all good
Kim Simmons rocks.
Great rockers, check out Poor Girl. Not to be confused with Fine Girl by FZ.

Too bad you did the CD version, the ending on the LP version kinda grabs you by the boo boo.
