Next true MJ? Closest thing we'll ever see to MJ was Kobe. Melo was an all-time great SCORER, and a HOF, but "next true MJ" is kind of outrageous. Melo could have been the greatest version of himself if he would have stayed bought in to a team concept and where George Karl was tryna take his game. Had his greatest shot at the title in 09 with Chauncey Billups and they couldn't get passed Kobe and the Lakers. He didn't quite have the character, the drive, the competitive dog or the hate to lose mentality that MJ and Kobe had. That's not even entirely a knock against him. It's just that there are levels to greatness, and Melo was somewhere below tier 1. Respectfully.
